kayla walked into the bank reception, dressed in a crisp business suit, she approached the reception desk, her movements Swift and jerky, like a puppet on a string. she slamed her purse down on the surface, making the contents rattle. the receptionist looked up at her taken aback by her " I NEED TO SEE YOUR BOSS CALEB" Kayla asked in a dangerously low tune looking straight into her eyes, the receptionist fumbled with the dialer as she made to call him, and then she directed her to the office after dropping the phone. she stormed into the office, her heels clicking on the floor like a ticking time bomb. Her face comtorted with rage, her eyes blazing like hot coals, her jaw clenched as she pursed her lips, as if she was biting back a torrent of angry words. Her eyes scanned the room, and she found caleb seated across the table, legs crossed, apparently busy speaking to someone on the phone, Kayla took in the man across from her in his expensive look, of course he had always had a taste for the good life and he obviously had his life going perfectly for him but what she couldn't understand was why he was trying so hard to ruin hers. she stared at the source of her ire and her anger intensified. Her breathing became rapid and shallow, like a bellow fanning the flames of her fury. seeing her Caleb dropped the call, She took a deep breath, and her voice cut through the air like a knife. "How could you...?" she began, her words dripping with venom. "Kay?... isn't this a pleasant surprise, except you don't look too happy honey" Caleb came around walking towards her with his hands wide opened as though he was going to hug her "you saw me with Mr okwori at the restaurant and knowing fully well he was my client, you found a way to convince him to open an account with you instead?... how dare you!" she jabbed his chest with her fingers "are you trying to sabotage me Caleb?" she asked balling her fists at her sides "hey it's just business strategies baby" Caleb replied with a smirk on his lips " why don't we sit over lunch and catch up, I've missed you" Caleb continued taking strands of her hair in his hand "well I didn't come to banter words," she pulled her hair off his hand " transfer the account or watch this go viral" she slammed a file on his table and stormed out. getting into her car Kayla took in a steadying breathe, thank God George was able to do some digging on him and they actually found dirt on him, he wasn't ready to feed himself to the press so she was sure he was going to take the bait. she geared her car in motion and drove off A few hours later she sat in her office twirling a pen in-between her fingers as though she was eagerly waiting for something. suddenly the phone rang and her lips curled into a smile." I thought you'd never call" she said as she answered the phone. ************************** "ohhh daddy" Kayla jumped out of her car and ran into her father's arm in excitement and sat on his lap after which she gave him a kiss on the cheek . Simon was sitting in the cottage reading a news magazine taking in the evening fresh air when he saw his daughter drive in, he was supprised when she ran into his arms like she was five, he chuckled at her childish behavior, it was one of the reasons he loved her, she brought smiles to everyone's face. "is this a bribe Kayla, is there something you want?" he asked with laughter in his tune, "oh no, I actually want to take you out on a date as my first love" she said, her eyes dancing with mischief. "well I'm a very loyal husband these days so i must beg you to let my wife come too" he replied with feigned innocence and Kayla Bursted into laughter "so what's this about, what's the goodnews" he asked, curiosity getting the best of him "I got my client back " she finally spilled "wow... Kayla that's awesome, congratulations darling" Simon said his smile turning into a full grin, he had known Kayla was sad when she said she lost her client but just like her, she fooled everyone into thinking she was okay but not him, the moment she said she was going to bed early he knew she wasn't fine because she never went to bed early. Kay headed to her room dialing George's number the moment he answered she let out a squeal of excitement, barely containing her joy, "oh my God, oh my God, it worked! we did it" Her voice was bubbly and energetic, like a champagne bottle popping open. She couldn't contain her excitement, and her words tumbled out in a happy jumble. "I can't believe it! I was so unsure, but I went in there and showed him the files just like we discussed, and he got the message he is backing off, My client is creating an account with my bank, and it's all because of your brilliant idea! She took a quick breath, and her words came out in a rush. "I'm so grateful, thank you so much for your help! You're the best, I don't know what I would do without you!" Her excitement was infectious, and he couldn't help but smile, feeling happy for her success. "That's amazing news! I'm so proud of you, you did it!" She squealed again, her happiness radiating through the phone. "I can't wait to celebrate, allow me buy you lunch one of these days, I owe you that much!" George laughed but yielded to her demand "as you wish ma'am" he said jokingly. The call ended and Kay let her self fall on the bed still completely dressed in her office clothes but too happy to care.
