CHAPTER3

The wedding was planned at short notice, and Mr. Vance only promised to hand over the contract and sign it on the wedding day. A day before the wedding, Aiden went to a*****e that evening with his assistant to get some stuff for himself. He sat down and faced outside while the store attendant showed him things they had in store. He saw the lady that saved him from the accident. He ran out of the store and went after her. She was a few steps ahead of him, and he then tapped her lightly on the shoulder. She looked back, not recognizing him, and she looked confused, and her facial expression was questioning. “Any problem sir?” she asked. “No…yes, then, I'm sorry, but I’ve been meaning to see you thank you properly, and I’m happy I did,” Aiden replied with excitement in his voice and face. Sera looked confused. “Do you know me?” She asked more curiously. Aiden now looked confused and lost. “You helped me when I got into an accident a few days back,” he fixed his gaze on her as he explained, hoping she remembered. “Oh my Gosh..!, it’s you,” she snapped as she remembered the incident. “I'm so sorry I didn't recognize you,” she apologized and smiled. “I should thank you for saving my life. I owe you a lot,” he expressed genuinely. “Will you do me the honor of telling me your name,” because if I don't get to know your name this time again, I'll be so mad at myself, he said jokingly, and Sera laughed softly. “ I'm Seraphina, but you can call me Sera for short.” She uttered with a glimpse of a smile that softened the heart. His heart was beating fast, it was as if the universe had brought them together. Why did I meet her a day before the wedding? Why haven't we crossed paths since that day? Different questions ran through his mind, but he kept a smile on his face. They both went back into the store after so much persuasion, that he offered to drop her at her place, but she refused. He insisted like a stubborn puppy, who refused to take no for an answer. He knew if he asked her to pick things for herself she was going to refuse, so he told his assistant to help her pick whatever she felt would suit her well. Aiden noticed, and he asked his assistant to pick things she knew were going to fit her. Sera and Brittany are almost the same size, but Sera is a bit taller and thicker than her. Aiden was staring at her now and then, she was feeling uneasy and timid. Brittany took her into the changing room to try the clothes on. She thought after she made it clear that she had no interest in purchasing, but he was very adamant that he still went ahead and purchased them. Britany gazed at how stunning she looked in every dress she wore. She carefully dragged her out of the changing room so she could see herself in the mirror. Aiden's heart skipped as he saw her. He couldn't speak or move. He was awestruck, and a smile spread across his face. “You look gorgeous,” he whispered, his voice burly with emotion. “Thank you,” she replied, facing downward, and she rushed back into the changing room and changed back into her clothes. Sera was surprised by the amount she heard. After the attendant packed their belongings and gave them to Brittany, Sera glanced at him as he handed her his card without shrinking, “800k dollars for those items!” she screamed in her mind and she tried to compose herself. The driver is already at the entrance of the store. They got into the car and the driver zoomed off. The night was quiet and cozy as they drove past rows of streetlights. The only sound was the gentle hum of the engine. He broke the silence and asked her what she does for a living. She told him she works in a restaurant, not so far from where the accident occurred. He was about to ask her another question when Sera suddenly pointed at a story building ahead and told the driver to stop there. Aiden thought about how it would have been perfect if he was getting married to her instead of Isabelle. When they were in the car he was staring at her so much that she felt uncomfortable. “Thank you so much for today. "I appreciate your kindness,” she said with a smile on her face. Aiden also smiled back at her then she gently got out of the car and closed the car door, heading towards the gate. “Hey!, you forgot your stuff,” Aiden said from behind. “Oh, did I?” she turned to look back, and acted like she had forgotten, but in reality, she left it on purpose. “Have a good night, Sera,” He whispered as he approached her and handed over the items. He turned back and got into his car and the driver zoomed off. He was overwhelmed by the wedding happening in less than 20 hours. But thinking about Sera made him smile again. Sera was so exhausted her eyes were fixed on those shopping bags lying at the side of her bed. Everything in those bags is designer. She took off her clothes and went to bathe. She felt relaxed, and suddenly she thought about Aiden for some minutes. He was so nice and soft, the way he gazed at her she recalled everything and smiled. She hadn’t come across a very wealthy man who was as humble as Aiden, she had encountered a lot of arrogant and inconsiderate people at her place of work, so she could tell Aiden was not one of them. It was past midnight and her phone rang waking her up, it was an unknown number. She ignored it and lay back to sleep. The phone rang again and this time she looked at her phone screen and answered the call. “Hello,” she mumbled, still sleepy, she sounded uninterested that the person over the phone could sense it. “It’s Aiden,” he whispered into the night. “Oh, Aiden, can we talk at dawn? Your call woke me up,” she said softly and hung up.
