CHAPTER1
A 6.3ft-tall-skinned man got out of the elevator. His form is breathtaking with a broad shoulder. His nicely maintained brown hair appears very lovely. His outfit was wonderfully designed and pricey, and it matched his look. He looked to hold a soft kind of expression, and he emerged with a sense of confidence. Levi Vance rose from his chair to shake Aiden’s hand, a man in his late fifties with a governing behavior. His piercing blue eyes seemed to penetrate Aiden’s soul. “Thank you for coming, Mr. O’Neil,” Levi said in a firm and polite tone. “I believe you’re aware of why I’ve asked you here?” nodding slightly. I assumed it was about the proposed merger between our companies. Uneasiness tingled with Aiden’s intuition, he knew where this was headed. “I’m listening,” he said in an impartial tone, not feeling the conversation. “Uh, uh….,” Levi cleared his throat and leaned forward, with his gaze fixed on Aiden. “ I want you to marry my daughter,” he declared with confidence in his voice. “I..I.think she would be the ideal wife for you because she’s attractive and smart.” He stammered, his voice barely above a whisper, his eyes shining with pride. Aiden felt a knot form in his stomach. “I’m flattered,” Mr. Vance said and chuckled, carefully picking his words. “However, I’m afraid I’ll have to say no,” he continued. “ I’m not ready to get married, nor do I feel any affection for your daughter, and I certainly don’t want to go into a union just to close a business deal.” He shot back, his tone sharp and filled with fury. “You're making a mistake, Aiden,” Levi’s eyes flared with rage as his face went gloomy. “A very big mistake,” he snarled with disappointment written on his face. “I understand you might be disappointed,” Mr. Vance, “unfortunately my response is final.” Ignoring Levi's facial expression, he got up, turned, and walked out of the office, his head pounding. Stepping into the cool refreshing evening breeze, Aiden felt an overwhelming sense of relief. He had stood up for himself rather than being forced into a marriage he never thought of. He felt as though the deal was at risk, he was already at the point of losing it, he thought about it as he made his way to his car. He climbed in and turned on the ignition. He muttered to himself, “ I should have let my driver drop me off,” he was too exhausted to drive. He left the parking lot and hit the road, a black SUV suddenly drifted into his lane. His heart raced at that moment, he swerved to avoid it, he lost control of the car, and it flew off the road, crashing into a tree. Immediately after the airbag defused, Aiden’s world went dark. He felt as though he was being drawn into a whirlpool of unconsciousness. He made an effort to struggle, but his body felt inactive and heavy. He heard glass breaking, metal crunching, and the faint murmur of a voice as he drifted off. The voice was soothing and soft, as if it were calling him. Then Aiden’s eyes opened and he looked up at the stranger. She rested him over her shoulder and placed her hand on his chest. It was obvious she felt concerned. She asked, “Hey, wake up, are you OK?” Her voice was more like a little whisper. His eyes opened slowly, he saw a woman with long ginger hair and brown eyes. He was still in shock at how that happened in a short period, the SUV already sped away. He was still looking at the lady beside him as he tried to regain his balance. The lady who helped him to get on his feet took him to the seat across the road. He felt a wave of dizziness but he was held by the lady. He felt a sharp pain in his waist and he gasped, clutching his teeth. The pain went through his body like a bump of electricity. “Relax, I got you,” she said to him. He felt a sense of gratitude for her. “Thank you,” he said with a smile. She waved down a taxi, so he could be taken to the hospital. “Come on, let’s get you to the hospital,” she said and reached out for the taxi door. “I’m feeling ok, I don’t need to go to the hospital”, Aiden replied with a mixture of smile and pain. The lady insisted and they both got into the taxi and went to a nearby hospital. They got to the hospital, and the nurse recognized Aiden and attended to him, the lady left without telling him. After the nurse was done with him, he asked the nurse about the lady that brought him to the hospital but unfortunately, she had already left. He felt a bit of heartbreak, he felt bad because he felt he owed her his life, and he hadn't thanked her enough. The moment he saw her he felt connected to her, he couldn’t ignore how he felt the time they were together. He had never felt that way before. It was as if the universe had brought them together. “How did I not ask for her name? How am I going to see her?” he questioned himself, in a soft masculine voice. He used the hospital landline to call his secretary and told her to inform the driver to come pick him up at the hospital. He mentioned the hospital to her and dropped the call. He couldn’t take his mind off the unknown lady, he pictured her face every second. The meeting he had with Levi Vance did not cross his mind, because all he could think of was the lady that saved his life and how he would get to her by all means. The driver came after 5 minutes and took him to his house. He lives alone in a mansion with his staff and chefs. The exterior and interior will leave you awestruck by its resplendence. He got out of the car and headed straight to his room, his whole thoughts occupied by the unknown lady. He went to his bathroom and stood in front of the mirror observing where he had a cut, his forehead, and his waist, and everything reminded him of the lady. He went to bed hoping someday they would meet.
