CHAPTER2

Aiden was finding it so hard to sleep. A lot of thoughts went through his mind. The deal with the Vance family remained 6 days. Some other significant companies were also after the deal, and he didn’t want to lose the deal because of his reputation and standard in society. Isabelle is not his type of girl, and pretending to marry her will make things complicated because they will be living together, and he can’t hide his true feelings from her. He went outside the house, he went to the poolside. He was pacing around for some minutes, then he stopped and raised his head to look at the stars. He thought about the unknown lady and wished that fate would bring her back to him someday. He stood there for minutes and headed back inside to sleep. “Beep beep.” his alarm sounds so loud like a fire warning. He jumped out of bed, grumbled, and clicked the snooze button. He was about to go to the bathroom when his phone rang. It was Mr. Vance. He sighed and picked up the call. On the other end of the phone, “ Have you given further consideration to my offer in exchange for the deal?” The thick gravelly voice asked in a loud tone. “You don’t have anything to lose by just marrying my daughter,” he continued. “You marry my daughter, you get the deal, remember time is not on your side. Five days and few hours left. "Remember other companies are dying to have this deal you want to lose,” he said and dropped the call. Aiden was speechless till the end of the call. He dropped his phone on the table, and he swiftly got ready for work, because he knew his PA was already waiting in the living room. The scent of his subtle blend of citrus and woods, with a hint of spice, filled the air with an undeniable aura of luxury. “Good morning sir.” his assistant said with a smile. “Good morning Brittany,” he responded as he moved to the dining area and sipped the coffee that the maid served him. He handed his phone and they moved outside the compound. “Good morning Mr. O’Neil,” the driver uttered as he opened the car door. “Good morning,” he replied as he entered the car. Brittany sat at her usual place beside the driver and he drove off. Aiden told his secretary to call Mr. Vance’s office and that he was ready to take the deal, he had already given it good thought. He was not ready to lose the multi-billion deal because of a mere marriage that he could later call off. He had already thought about it, and to him, it was just a way of getting his deal signed. After a year, he will end the marriage. He called his attorney to prepare a fake wedding agreement document. Aiden was invited by Levi Vanceto to his office after he was told he had already accepted the offer. He made sure his daughter got to his place before Aiden, so he could formally introduce them to each other. “Can I come in?” Aiden stood outside the office door. A lady in her early twenties, tall and slender, with a pointed nose that complimented her blue eyes with long flowing brown hair that cascaded down to her back is seen backing the office. Enjoying the view of the city, Aiden opened the door and entered, Mr. Vance stood up from his seat to shake him as he sat in the same place he did the last time. She walked to where Mr Vance and Aiden were seated and sat beside her father. Aiden already knew before Levi introduced her to him that that was the girl he was being forced to marry. “Aiden, meet my daughter, Isabelle,” Levi Vance announced, his voice as cold and calm as a glacier. “Isabelle, that’s Aiden, your husband-to-be.” He chuckled. Aiden was silent, he stretched forth his hands. Her eyes sparkled with warmth. “It’s nice to finally meet you” she smiled, extending a hand. He tended, his voice barely a whisper. “It's nice to meet you too.” This was more than just a business bargain; it may be the beginning of an uproar of impossibilities. A heavy silence descended on the room for several minutes, Isabelle admiring Aiden's looks and body. Levi sensed the awkwardness, and he cleared his throat and started a conversation concerning the business deal. Aiden listened intently, his mind was full of positivity about the project. He was an intelligent engineer and the opportunity to work on a project of this scale was a dream come true. Yet his focus kept drifting back to Sera. He exchanged a glance with Isabelle. “If you don't mind, Aiden, I was wondering if we could go on a dinner date tonight, just you and I” she uttered in a low tone. “I..I'm..” Aiden stammers, trying to give an excuse, but before he can say anything further, Levi Vance interrupts him “So you both can get to know each other well before the wedding,” he giggled excitedly. He was short of words, he nodded in affirmation and smiled when his gaze met hers. It was past 6 in the evening. His driver took him home to change and get ready for the date with Isabelle Vance. He chose the restaurant and sent her the location. The soft hymn on the keyboard gives a soothing background as they both enjoy their meals. Isabelle had been looking around since they got there and she finally asked, bothering her mind. “Why is there no one here, except us and the waitress,” she asked curiously. Aiden raised his head, and took a sip of his wine, “ because I booked the whole place for tonight." "I love a quiet place,” he added. Isabelle looked at him again in surprise. “No man has ever done that for her before,” she said in her mind. She could not stop staring at him. His physique and appearance drove her crazy. She was happy her father matched her with him. “ I can't wait to get married to him and live as a couple” she excitedly said to herself as she walked to her room, Aiden headed home after he dropped her off.
