"Uh..."
William was already enjoying the gentle pressure of Sophia’s arm on his right. Suddenly, another small hand wrapped around his left arm. He felt like he had died and gone to heaven.
The sensation of two beautiful women pressing against him made his heart race.
But just as he was secretly enjoying the moment, Nora dropped her bombshell.
William almost tripped over his own feet.
Sophia was dumbfounded. William is clearly my fiancé. Why would Nora say that?
Even if she's using him as a shield, isn't that going too far?
How can he be my fiancé and her boyfriend at the same time?
Sophia stared at her cousin in shock.
Tyler looked like he was about to have a stroke.
What is going on?
What kind of complicated relationship is this?
Miss Sophia and Miss Nora both like the same man? One is the fiancée, the other is the girlfriend?
His excitement from thirty seconds ago evaporated instantly. He wilted like a dying flower.
Gavin, who had initially thought Sophia and William's relationship was fake because of Nora's actions, now felt his hopes crushed.
Fiancé of Sophia! Boyfriend of Nora!
Haha... am I dreaming, or are these sisters crazy?!
Anger simmered in Gavin's heart.
"Now that the relationships are clear, do you two gentlemen still want to treat us to dinner?" William smirked, acting as if he totally bought into this bizarre scenario. He looked at Gavin and Tyler provocatively.
Clear?
Clear my ass!
After a long pause, Gavin shook his head. He was angry but helpless.
How did I run into such a weird situation? Who is this William guy anyway?
"No thanks. Enjoy your meal," Gavin's attitude dropped to freezing point. He glared at William like he was an enemy. "William, right? I'll remember you!"
With that, Gavin turned to leave.
Tyler had no appetite left either. He shot William a glare filled with disdain and turned to follow Gavin.
Suddenly, Gavin stopped. He turned back to Sophia. "Oh, by the way, Sophia. I heard you love racing. Tomorrow, there's a race at the Speed Park hosted by Young Master Zhou."
"If you're interested, you can join. I can sign you up..."
"And Mr. William here? I can sign you up too. If you have the skills, that is."
Gavin’s invitation sounded polite, but his eyes were mocking.
"Not interested," William waved his hand. Ordinary racing wasn't exciting. Back in the Middle East, he used to race Death Cars with Arab princes—smashing into each other at high speeds. That was exciting.
City racing seemed boring by comparison.
"Sign me up," Sophia said coldly. "And sign William up too."
Gavin smirked, his plan succeeding. A hint of malice flashed in his eyes. "As you wish."
With that, Gavin and Tyler left the hotel.
Outside, Gavin's expression turned dark. He whispered to Tyler, "At the race, make sure we teach this William a lesson! Bastard. Two flowers stuck in cow dung!"
"It's our race. We can handle a little 'accident'," Tyler said grimly. "William is scum. I'll make him pay!"
Gavin and Tyler exchanged a knowing smile.
Inside the hotel, as soon as the two men left, William frowned. "Wifey, why did you drag me into a race?"
He knew exactly what Gavin and Tyler were planning. Why did Sophia agree for him?
He didn't want to waste time punishing rich brats.
Of course, if they messed with him, he would make them regret being born.
"I want to see you perform," Sophia looked at him with disdain. "What, scared? If you're scared, I can tell Gavin to cancel your registration."
"Scared?" The corner of William's mouth twitched up. So my wife wants to see if I'll chicken out.
William didn't know the meaning of the word. "There is nothing in this world William is afraid of! It's just a car race. You think that's a big deal?"
"Go William! You and Cousin get a good ranking! Hee hee..." Nora beamed at him, clearly confident in his abilities.
She still vividly remembered the moment William flew the motorcycle over the highway barrier yesterday.
Sophia snorted. "Good. I hope you don't run away tomorrow! And I hope you can shut up those people who think you aren't qualified to be my fiancé!"
William’s expression shifted. He looked at Sophia in surprise. Wait... Wifey is thinking about me? She wants me to prove myself to them?
Suddenly, William was full of fighting spirit.
"Bastard! How long are you going to trap our arms?!" Sophia suddenly snapped.
William was still clamping their arms tightly against his sides with his elbows.
He shuddered and released them, looking sheepish. "Heh heh, I didn't mean to... want to do it again later?"
The softness of their arms rubbing against him had been too good to let go.
"William, you're so bad!" Nora giggled sweetly. "You're always like this."
"Nora, don't listen to his nonsense. Nothing serious ever comes out of his mouth," Sophia scolded, her face frosty. She knew exactly what small movements his elbows had been making against her chest earlier.
If they were alone, she would have kicked him where it hurts!
She glared at William. "Someone like you is destined to be a slacker with no future. My fiancé should never be like you! That is why I will never like you!"
Uh.
Seeing her cousin get angry, Nora quickly sat next to Sophia and held her hand. "Cousin, don't be like that. William will make you happy. Right, William?"
"It doesn't matter," William waved his hand, his smile turning wicked and thick-skinned. "If my wife doesn't want to be on me, I can be on my wife! Over time, she'll learn to like it."
At first, Sophia and Nora didn't react. But seeing William's lecherous grin, Sophia suddenly understood the double meaning. Her face turned cold, and she glared daggers at him.
In reality, William was a little hurt. He just didn't show it.
He admitted he had thick skin, but everyone had a bottom line.
Even though he knew Sophia said those harsh words to drive him away, it still stung.
Dinner ended strangely. William excused himself to go to the bathroom. When he came out, Sophia and Nora were gone!
Then, he received a text: We left first!
No explanation. No emotion. Just a statement. William laughed bitterly.
"Tomorrow is Saturday. I have the race, so I can't do sales work. But I can arrange some contracts tonight," William calculated.
He pulled out his phone and scrolled through his contacts until he found a name: "Caitlin".
He dialed the number.
"Looks like I have to trouble my Senior Sister to help me out. Come to think of it, I haven't told her I'm in J City yet... More importantly, it's been so long. I wonder how she is?"
The phone rang a few times before connecting.
A woman's voice came through. Even over the phone, you could tell she was a beauty. "Hello? Who is this?"
"Miss Caitlin, are you free for a drink tonight?" William smirked. Hearing her voice brought a rush of emotion.
When he was small, Caitlin had always protected him.
Whenever he was mischievous and got into trouble, she would cover for him or take the punishment from their Mentor.
When he was small, she gave him warmth and care.
Back then, he was afraid of the dark and couldn't sleep alone. Every night, he would crawl into her bed and sleep in her arms. That lasted until he was fifteen.
When he was small, she supervised his training. Every time he slacked off, she would s***k him.
...
William walked slowly down the street, listening to the silence on the other end of the line. He felt a pang of nostalgia.
Ten years!
He had left his Mentor and Caitlin ten years ago. In those years abroad, he built the Red Wolf Mercenaries and became the Wolf King.
When he left, Caitlin was the campus belle of Peking University. Ten years later, she surely hadn't changed, right?
Thinking of the past, William felt a sourness in his nose.
"You are..."
The voice on the other end hesitated. Caitlin froze. After a two-second pause, she suddenly shouted, her voice trembling, "Are you... Wil... William?"
Her voice cracked, thick with emotion.
Hearing her choke up, William felt like crying too.
Ten years apart. Who could understand this feeling?
"You brat! Speak! Where are you?!" Caitlin suddenly roared, her sadness turning into anger.
William flinched. Well, that ruined the touching moment.
The Cruise Ship Café
The Cruise Ship Café was a large ship docked at the seaside, converted into a high-end restaurant and bar. It was a unique cultural landmark of J City.
William sat on the deck, looking at the Senior Sister he hadn't seen in forever. He didn't speak; he just looked.
Caitlin swirled her glass of red wine, looking at him with interest. Her voice was soft. "Little Rascal, what are you looking at?"
"Guess," William said honestly, staring into her eyes.
Now that she spoke, William felt like his soul had returned to his body.
Years had passed, but just as he imagined, she was still beautiful. She would still be the unrivaled beauty on any campus.
However, at twenty-nine, Caitlin now possessed a mature allure. Her eyes held a natural magnetism, her features were exquisite, and her pinned-up hair gave her a capable, sharp look.
She wore a mysterious, tight-fitting black V-neck t-shirt that revealed her pale collarbones. Below, she wore a cool denim miniskirt that showed off her legs.
"The Little Rascal has been gone for ten years. Have you turned into a Big Rascal?" Caitlin giggled, staring straight into William's eyes.
