‘'We were kids Jessica, we didn't know what we were doing, we were just acting with feelings'’

'’I love you Jessica, I love you'’ he said and he hugged her, he stopped their fight one more time by backing up like he did all these years they were together. He wanted many times to break up with her but he was feeling sorry, very sorry for her.
As soon as he felt the known smell of Midmond city all the memories he buried for so long came back to his mind, all his friends, his family their trips ,laughs , drinks, Paola.. he never forgot about Paola, he remembered her as a sweet memory from their childhood, he was wondering if he wouldn't leave, what would happen between them. With all the fame she had now and with the whole world knowing her, he was sure that she was dating someone and that she wouldn't even care that he was back.
'’It's the third time am talking to you honey, did you call for a cab?'’
‘'No, Mario is coming to pick us up'’
‘'Did you tell him not to tell anyone?'’
‘'We haven't done anything bad to hide Jess, our friends will find out that we are back’'
Mario soon was honking at them.
‘'Six years, it’s like we are away twenty years, everything looks so different'’
'’Everything is different, I wanted to tell you face to face guys, I am getting married to Chloe and soon she is giving birth to our son'’

'’Did you keep contact with all the persons in our class?’' Jessica asked abruptly
'’Yes, with all our squad, we go out often'’
‘'Is Paola invited to the wedding?'’
‘'Paola will give us the honor to sing our first song'’
She haven't said a word after that, she spend the rest of the days, weeks complaining as she was always doing. She was locked in the house all day, calling Matthew many times at work, he was trying to adapt, to get to know the job, the clients, get used to be back home after such a long period of time being away, but she didn't seem to care, her only concern was Paola, she was watching the videoclips, her interviews, her shows and she was praying that Paola will leave their city, not for her tours but forever, since the night that Jason revealed what happened between her and Matthew she never spoke to Paola or Bailey again, it was the end of their friendship and the beginning of Matthew's torture.
Mario wondered why he was still staying with her and he asked Matthew straight when they were the two of them for a beer at Marty's that now was named Darkville and looked way different, however the vibe of the place was still the same.
‘'As you realized, Jess is not doing well
'’Man, If I wouldn't see her with you, I wouldn't recognize her, what happened?'’
'’She has leukemia'’

'’She is suffering two years and unfortunately the situation is not getting any better..’' he finished his beer in one shot and he said it very fast .
'’The doctor said she has only two months left’' he showed the waiter the empty glass, soon he was finish his third glass.
'’We are getting engaged, is the last thing I can do for her, for all these years we were together and all the things we passed together, she was always possessive and jealous but I could handle her, after she got sick, she got worst, she was not accepting to go for treatment, not following her medication, kept saying that she will die and I will live happily with Paola.'’
'’Still she is upset for what happened back then? it's been so many years, you went with her for studies, you will engage her. Paola has her life you have your life'’
'’She never got over it, I don't know what bothered her more, me and Paola or her not being friends with Paola and Bailey’'
‘'I would say both, those three were inseparable'’
'’I feel so guilty'’
'’You shouldn't ,also I find it wrong that you stayed with her for so long without loving her, come on, it's obvious that you just feel sorry for her’'

‘'What happens if she won't die, you will engage and then marry to a person who you don't love?’'
'’As soon as her health will be stable I will break up with her'’

'’Well it's all about the wedding now, you know Chloe.....’' He stop listening to him, the voice caught his attention and turned behind him looking at the door, he was sure that it was her, Paola, she was smiling and signing autographs, Mario turned to that direction as well and then looked at him
'’I swear I didn't tell anyone we will be here tonight, this is a coincidence even though you may not believe it'’
‘'Chill I didn't say anything'’

He turned his head back on Mario trying to get back into their conversation.
'’Mario?’’
Her voice was now deeper, she was smoking a lot, he was sure about that. They kissed with Mario and then she turned and froze, she left staring at him
''Ma..tthew’' she mumbled ‘'You are... back?'’ He didn't reply to her, he stood up and hugged her very hard, in that moment she got lost in his arms, his known smell of bergamot orange mixed with his body smell, she was filling dizzy, confused, she felt like all this was a dream, she would wake up and he would disappear as it happened many times in her sleep.
Even though Matthew was away for six years, she didn't get into any relationship, she was dedicated to her studies and her career, the sweet thoughts of them being together couldn't get out of her mind. She tried to date and gave the opportunity to many guys however nobody ever made her feel like Matthew did, she tried to convince herself that it was just a whim and she was just stuck because she didn't find the right person. In that moment while she was in his hug for 1 or 2 minutes all her doubts were dissolved, she was hopelessly in love with Matthew Maclean, after so many years and still her heart belonged to him. When she looked in his eyes, nothing reminded the old cocky Matthew, he looked serious, down to earth and also sad, like something was eating him from inside.

‘'Take a sit, said Mario'’
‘'Actually am waiting for Bailey and Derek, they won't take long'’
'’All girls hooked up with guys from our class?'’ said Matthew trying to ease the tension of the moment.
'’Almost everyone except from Paola, she is a tough one'’
She couldn't help it, she asked where Jessica was
‘'Home'’
'’Did you guys get married?'’
'’No, we are getting engaged'’
‘’Congrats’’ she said '’Oh there comes the couple'’
After the meets and greetings, Paola informed Bailey that they came just on time before her heart would betray her and her real feelings will show on her face.
'’Still you like him?'’
'’I love him Bailey'’
'’This can't be real Paola'’
‘'I loved him since the first moment I saw him and I will never, you hear me? never forgive myself for being so selfish and stupid, I lost him forever, he is engaging with Jessica. I thought it wouldn't last between them but...I guess I was wrong, what he is feeling for her was stronger from the few times we spent together'’
'I’ll start crying too, relax, take a deep breath. Maybe is for the best, now you saw him, you realized that nothing can happen between you, you will finally realize that it's over and you will start living your life, you are twenty four and still you never had a relationship, girl still a virgin, if anyone would find out'’
