Yukita pulled into the bar parking lot and hopped out still humming the song that had just been playing as she walked to the doors meeting up with the group. They walked in and found a table each ordering their favorite drink.
“So Yukita do you have anyone you are interested in?” Lila asked.
Yuki just about spit her drink out at the unexpected question. “No, not right now. I am focusing on advancing in my career right now.”
“Really?” Lila squeaked, being a huge romantic and in a loving relationship she was surprised at the answer. “You just moved here where there are some damn fine looking people who are actual gentlemen or women if that’s how you feel and no one has caught your eye yet.”
Yuki chuckled, “That is correct. Also I just got out of a bad relationship so for now I'm going to focus on me and my career.”
“Oh.. I’m so sorry.” Lila said sadly.
“It’s okay. I know you didn’t know, but for now let's forget about that. We are here to have a drink and have a good conversation.”
“That is absolutely right.” Jake said, jumping in.
“Indeed. Hey Jake, how is your friend David doing?” Josh asked.
“He’s great. Actually he and his girlfriend just got engaged.” Jake replied.
“What? No way!! That is awesome. They do make a good couple.” Josh said.
“Indeed they do, and guess who he asked to be his best man.”
“No way it’s a loser like you so maybe..” Josh was cut off by Jake playfully punching him.
“I am not a loser like you are. At least I was there when he asked.”
“What? You got to be there when he asked?” Josh exclaimed.
“Yup, and let me tell you she was sure surprised. Damn, I can still hear her squeal.” Jake said, rubbing his ear.
Josh laughed, “Ya she can definitely get loud.”
Lila, Yuki, Josh, Jake and Ash all continued talking and laughing for almost two hours.
“Alright as much fun as this has been, I do need to get going.” Yukita said.
“Alright, be safe.” Lila said.
“You guys too.” Yuki said standing and walking over to pay her bill. After that she walked out and unlocked her truck and drove home. When she got there and opened the door she was almost taken down by a mutt that was excited to see her. Thankfully she was able to catch herself. Getting through the door she set her things down and petted the happy dog. After she let Alex out in the backyard to have some run time.
Sighing she slumped down on the recliner she had gotten last week. Her mind thinking back on her last relationship and how bad things had ended. Her last boyfriend was someone introduced to her by a different friend. The first few months had been amazing, almost something out of a dream or fairytale. Unfortunately after that the dream came to an end the fairytale shattered and he became abusive, emotionally at first then later it started to become physical. Thankfully nothing too bad to send her to the hospital but she couldn't get away from him; this was one of her main reasons for moving. Right before she moved she found out that he and the one she thought was a friend had been dating the whole time. She was confused and sad and hurting but it seemed everywhere she went she was either seeing them or hearing about them. This is no surprise as it was a small town she had been in and they had become the “new perfect couple.” Not being able to stand being there longer she started looking and found both a new house and a new job here several hours away from her last home.
Distracted and lost in her thoughts she jumped startled when a knock came on her door. She got up and went to go see who it was, thankfully it was just a delivery driver dropping off a package. Smiling, she thanked him then shut and relocked the door. Taking the package to her living room she set it down then went out back to throw the ball for her dog. About an hour later she decided to go in for a snack and a drink, bringing Alex with her so he could get some water. Then she sat back down in her reclining chair deciding to watch some Netflix for a bit.
A few hours later she decided it was time to get some sleep. She got up, went and did her nightly routine then plopped on her bed. Unfortunately it was a long night of tossing and turning and restless sleep. Groaning when her alarm went off she reached over, hitting the snooze button. After ten minutes when it again went off she sighed and shut it off. Getting up she decided to skip her workout for a little longer of a shower to help her wake up. Feeling better when she got out she made a cup of coffee and then went out to her backyard and threw the ball for her furry friend. About fifteen minutes later she checked the time and went to finish getting ready for another day of work. Her drive was smooth as was her work day. After work just as she was about to leave Jake called out to her.
“Hey, are we still on for tea and a tour tomorrow?”
“Of course, I'm looking forward to it.” Yukita said.
“Me too. Well have a good night, see you tomorrow.”
Yukita just smiled and nodded before walking out. Getting to her truck and driving to the store getting a few things like more dog food and some other groceries. When she got home she unloaded, putting things away, her pup running around her excited and wanting to play. After getting in and settling she changed and went outside with some treats to work on training starting with sit, stay and heal. After about twenty minutes she took off his leash and grabbed the chuck it thrower to play for a while. Another thirty minutes went by before she decided it was dinner time for them both. Going in she got him water and food, before reheating some leftovers for herself. After eating she turned on her music and laid down on the floor with her drawing supplies beside her she started drawing. Getting in the zone a few hours later she stood up to use the bathroom and saw the time. “Crap, I have to get to sleep or I'll be late tomorrow.”
