I parked down the street from my old home and waited for Everlyn to leave, but she never came out. I saw James leave earlier this morning. I talked to Gloria about Nova clearly hating me and wanting to give up. But we had a long talk and she agreed that I needed to get rid of Everlyn before James could mark her. She also said that he could contest the marriage license since I had left and was gone for twenty-five years.
Around noon, James came pulling into the car port beside Everlyn’s maroon car. I ducked behind the wheel even though I was far down the street and he wouldn’t be able to see me. I stared at the house; wondering what they were doing when I saw Everlyn finally emerge and hurry to her car. I started mine up and started to follow her.
