Lily “Ms. Carver?” asked a large woman and I raised my hand. “Come with me please.” I stood up and followed the woman into her office and sat in the chair facing her desk. She looked over my file and tapped away on the keyboard of her computer while I sat quietly. I had just been sentenced to another six months in this halfway house while I attend several mental health programs. If I pass the evaluation at the end of the six months, I’ll be free to go.
