It was another two hours before we were able to go in and see James. Nova managed to keep Everlyn sane while we waited, but as soon as we walked into the hospital room, she dropped to her knees and cried. James was unconscious as silver poisoning is extremely painful so its better to be put in a coma to heal.
“The bullet was removed,” the doctor said. “He was lucky that it hit him there, but it did its damage. The silver was purest caliber I’ve ever seen. I don’t even think those are legal.”
“How long will he be out?” Nova asked as she held a whimpering Everlyn.
“A few days probably,” he said. “He’s got a drip to help cleanse his body of the silver. Once it’s out of his system completely, he’ll be able to heal himself. He was very smart to drive straight to the hospi
