It was getting later in the morning and things were starting to quiet down. Jack led me back to the middle of the room again. Even though everyone had kinda broke up into their own little groups, they were still acutely aware of where Jack and I were, so it didn’t take much for him to call for their attention.
“Hey guys,” Jack said in slightly raised voice. No reason to shout in a room full of shifters. “I just wanted to thank everyone for being so welcoming and kind. I can really feel that you guys are more like family than coworkers and I’m grateful that Nova and James have you all. I look forward to getting to know you all more.”
