The moment we step through the door, I'm hit with the most delicious honey dew scent. I'm not sure if it's someone's perfume or a dish being served but either way it's amazing. I can't quite pinpoint where it's coming from exactly, but I know it's a bit stronger the closer we get to the bar. Molly, the bartender, notices us as we all walk up and greets us with a warm smile.
"The usual girls?" Great , now we look like alcoholics, I swear we aren't here that often. Molly is just really good at remembering people's favorites and faces. "Haven't seen you in quite a while hun, you holding up ok?" She looks to me with a bit of concern etched on her delicate face. Molly is a bit older than us, I only know that cause she celebrated her 50th birthday the last time I was here. Just by looking at her though you'd never guess that was her age. Molly is a petite pixie-esque built woman and of course very pretty. Though don't let her size and demeanor fool you, she can definitely handle herself. She's been known to throw some unruly drunks out a time or two and honestly they've never dared come back for a round two with her. You'd think that would be bad for business but I've never seen this place empty. I don't think Molly cares much, being that she's the owner, she can keep whatever patrons she wants. She doesn't like violence in her bar, however if you start the fight she will definitely finish it. Guess that's why it's called "Molly's Place".
"I'm doing alright Molly, but thank you for asking. The girls decided I've been hiding long enough I guess." She chuckles, "Well I figure they're right. Now what can I get you dear?"
As I take another whiff of the air and catch the honey dew scent again, I notice there is a twinge of lemongrass in it as well. "What is that wonderful smell Molly? You have a melon and lemon liquor I don't know about? Or a new dessert? Whatever it is, I want that please." As I say that my mouth is practically watering.
She looks a bit puzzled as I say this. "Well hun I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about, but I do have some meloni liquor I could whip something up if you want?"
"That'd be fine Molls , thanks." Although I'm sure that's not what I was smelling. It's hard to tell now since the aroma has seemed to dissipate quite a bit at this point.
I grab my drink, which Molly has dutifully named a Zesty Samantha, since I had her add lemon juice, some grenadine, a shot of white rum, and some cherries with a lemon wedge for garnish. Luckily it's in a tall glass so I won't have to refill much. I make my way over to the girls sitting in a corner booth near the improvised dance floor. They just scooted some tables and chairs away from the jukebox so they have room to spin each other around. There probably wouldn't be much chance to find a dance partner since we either already knew the guys that were here are taken or we weren't interested in any of the rest. Mostly because they always think it has to lead to something else other than having fun dancing. I'm not much for dancing anymore anyways, I'll just watch from my corner and laugh as the girls try to "twerk".
As the girls grind the air, laughing at each other's dance skills, while The Thong Song comes out of the speakers. (must be a throwback day) I catch that amazing aroma again, but this time it's much stronger. I look to my right and notice the window is open which is where I believe the smell is coming from. "Hey girls! I'm gonna go get some fresh air. I'll be right back, can you watch my drink Ari?" Ari looks at me and gives a thumbs up as I head out the back door.
Stepping into the evening air, a gust of wind blows my locks a bit in my face as I'm trying to look around to see where that smell is coming from. As I brush my hair to the side and take in my surroundings I notice a few bikes pulling up. More like about 20 maybe more and unfortunately with the dirt and exhaust filling the air I've lost the scent again.
Defeated, I head inside to see what the girls have gotten into while I was gone.
As I reenter through the back door the group of bikers are making their way through the front. It seems most people are clearing a path for them, as if they are scared for some reason. This doesn't bode well, I hate confrontation. The girls are oblivious to what's going on in the front and just keep dancing and having fun, which seems to displease this new lot. Infact the bikers are eyeballing us with disdain or more rather disgust. Looking back to my friends I'm not sure why the bikers would hate us without meeting us. I mean we aren't being obscene...yet.
"What the hell is this Molly? You letting any Ole riff raff in here now? There better not be any in the hotel, I'll be taking a refund and free drinks for me and my crew!" As he blatantly pointed our direction referring to us. Absolutely taken aback by this, Ari is the first to notice what's going on and fires back with "Who are you calling riff raff? We aren't the assholes causing a scene, at least not till now jackass!" I chime in, "And furthermore there is no hotel dumbass. Obviously you're in the wrong place. Move on!" What the hell am I doing? I've never acted like that! I don't even know these guys or what they're capable of, but right now I feel ten feet tall and about to kick ass and take names. "Listen here you little mutt faced b***h!" Then Molly was on top of him. Like lightning fast, I didn't even see where she came from, and she is beating the ever living tar out of him. I don't know if he'll have a face left! " No *punch* One *punch* Talks *punch* To *punch* My *punch* Girls *punch* Like *punch* That *punch*....." and there's just a slew of curses coming out of Molly's mouth. Some even sound like a different language. I notice several of the bikers starting to descend upon the scene in front of us. More than likely going after Molly, and again I surprise myself and leap into the fray to cover Molly's back. That's when the bar erupts into utter chaos. Bottles are being broken over people's heads, although it does seem most everyone has united against the bikers but they are crazy strong! I mean there are four guys on one biker and he is throwing them aside as if they are paper dolls! They are also much bigger than I first thought, I mean I'm short but the asshat we've been yelling at might be 7ft tall! Aside from that, they are all built like freight trains. Almost as broad as they are tall. What the hell was I thinking getting involved!?
I am finally able to pry Molly off the jack butt she pummeled into the ground. "Are you ok?" She's asking me? I'm not even the one with a black eye or busted lip! "Are you kidding? I'm fine, let's get out of here!" About that time we hear a hellacious roar from outside, and I definitely don't want to find out what made it. As Molly and I look for Ari and the girls we spot them near the dance floor. Ari with a chair she just busted over a biker's head. Shelly and Lucinda apparently had pepper spray and are coating three guys to their right in it. Diana somehow had a cattle prod with her (don't ask me where I came from it's hard telling) and is having way too much fun dropping people left and right. Poor Darcy is cowering under the table, not sure what to do. l look to Molly, "We need to gather the girls and get out of dodge, pronto!" Molly, "I couldn't agree more love. Follow me!" I'm able to get Ari's attention to follow us and she grabs the girls, albeit Darcy is reluctant to move. We follow Molly behind the bar and through the kitchen since the other exits are pretty well blocked. "Well, I was hoping it never came to this but I suppose I'll have to take you all into the hotel for a bit til things calm down." We all look at Molly as if she's lost her mind. "What hotel Mol? There's nothing around but the bar." She just winks at me and says, "Well looks can be deceiving." As we walked down to what I thought was the cellar, under a trap door in the kitchen. All I can see is a black void with a tiny light at the end of a tunnel. As soon as our feet touch the ground, everything shifts.
