The night terrors have taken control of my life. After almost having a forced shift by Aadya and nearly attacking Maverick they decided enough was enough and began asking questions. The only thing I could think to do was bring them to the gazebo in hopes of them believing what I told them. I'm not crazy, but for some odd reason, I am being forced to relive someone's trauma. Maverick is concerned because he thinks I'm in danger. Katherine seems to be more understanding however when I'm not looking I can feel her eyes on me. So now we trudge through the woods as I try to recount my steps to the enchanted stone gazebo that has tormented me for the past month. If I don't get some sleep soon I fear I may go insane. "Are you sure we're going the right way?" Katherine looks around us cautiously as if she can feel eyes on us. Her words brought me out of my thoughts and instead raised my defenses. Realizing we are extremely vulnerable at the moment and more likely to be exposed to the pack we've been hiding within. Were far enough from the border that there shouldn't be patrol but it is vast thick woods there could be wolves out for a run because no human would deem it safe to hike out here. I don't scent any wolves around us but I get a chill down my spine almost as if I'm being watched. Stopping in my tracks I cautiously look around Maverick and Katherine stopping behind me. I hear nothing see nothing and smell nothing. However, it's too quiet. There is no noise from forest critters the trees don't rustle with the slight breeze blowing my hair. The hairs on my neck stand on end as the sensation of someone watching us pricks at the back of my mind. Aadya doesn't pick up anything either though so I huff and continue the walk to the gazebo. A heavy feeling begins to rest on my chest and I feel a pull toward the exact location of the gazebo. Pushing aside a few branches I enter the open area with the moss-covered gazebo looming in the center. Katherine makes a small noise like surprise or adoration possibly. It is a beautiful structure but I stand frozen in place. All I see is death as I gaze upon this gazebo. The ground was littered with the pack that was slaughtered here. The air grows thin and I struggle to get enough. Black splotches dance in my vision and I feel a hand grab and squeeze mine. The scent of the breeze sends a zing through my body and my blood ablaze. I look up at Maverick whose mouth is moving and whose brows are creased with concern. All I can focus on is the scent, so strong, I can almost see it wafting toward me. Crisp, earthy, and masculine. It has a woody scent with hidden undertones of spice that leaves me wanting more.

"Get out of here." I wheeze out before my eyes roll and a dark force so strong crashes into my consciousness. I float down in the darkness as I crumble to the ground and drown in it. - Everett Alice my younger sister spotted a wolf she had seen in Dark Moon territory when she was checking up on it with Finley. The thought of Valen sending his wolves into my territory has Radolf teetering on the edge. I've fallen into the darkness many times but never have I fought so hard for the light. Even in wolf form, Radolf is trying to keep me in control as I push my legs faster zipping through the trees with my Beta Conal and Gamma Ballard at my side. Along with my little sister and her mate and a fine pack warrior. Running through the woods with them at my side brings me back to when we were just kids. Conal my best friend who practically has been like a brother and my younger brother Ballard who despite having alpha blood and the sheer force to be an alpha never showed any interest in leading a pack. The woods are dark due to the brush overtop blocking out the sunlight but ahead I can see the bright light beckoning me forward. The sweetest scent of peaches floods my nose sending Radolf closer to the edge but preening from the scent. I push myself harder pulling ahead of my group desperate to reach the light and escape the darkness. I take one final leap through the brush sliding to a stop and huffing. I inhale deeper and warm vanilla mixes with the sweet peach it has an underlying hint of cinnamon sends my heart racing.
My eyes zero in on a small female lying unconscious on her side. Her skin glistened in the sunlight and her deep midnight black hair shone with vibrancy. Such a tiny female alone and defenseless in my territory. One of Valen's members.. No mine she's mine. My mate. Radolf whimpers and I'm pulled from my stupor as Ballard approaches her. He sniffs the area around her but as he goes to sniff her neck I fall into the darkness. Radolf surges forward taking the reigns and lashing out. He leaps over her so she is positioned safely underneath us. His canines are exposed as he growls protectively over his mate. Rafe my brother wolf leaps away neck bared in submission however teeth exposed ready to defend himself shall Radolf lunge at him even in submission. A small platinum blonde wolf Rhea comes from the brush and nuzzles Rafe. My brother's mate Ophelia and my pack healer. She sits beside him and her eyes drop to my mate positioned below me. Radolf swivels and snarls at Conal catching movement behind him but it is Alice who has moved. She shifted and now wears a shirt long enough to cover all of her leaving only her long legs exposed. "Radolf, we just want to help her. We won't hurt your mate alpha, but she needs help maybe even medical attention. She could be injured." My sister doesn't make eye contact with Radolf and I feel his worry for his mate. The darkness that threatens to suffocate me breaks and I'm once again in control of my body. I don't shift back to a man though. Like my wolf, I feel a strange need to protect my mate and I can do that best in wolf form. I look down at my mate taking her in and getting a good look at her. I press my snout to her neck inhaling her scent. It is sweet but the bitter tang of fear and distress is all over her. She was afraid of something and it wasn't my pack because only Alice had noticed her. Ophelia is now draped in a shirt and approaches us slowly. "Alpha let me take a look and see if I can sense anything." I don't respond but allow her to come closer however I stay overtop of her watching around us. Lia's hand gently lays on my mate's forehead and I notice her eyes glow as she stares down at her. She yanks her hand back like she'd been burned and falls on her ass. Rafe my brother's wolf is at her side in an instant sniffing her and licking her cheek. "She's not hurt, but I can't get a good sense of her. As soon as I started to get somewhere a firewall came up." I shake away the rampant thoughts in my mind and instead move and nudge her to get her on my back. Alice and Ophelia help get her up there before they shift back and everyone surrounds us as we make our way back to the packhouse. I came out prepared to defend my territory but instead, I stumbled upon one of the greatest gifts the goddess could give, my soulmate.
