“That could have gone better,” Hailey sighed as Lucas made his way down the trail leading him back to the pack house. Her eyes showed her sadness, though she tried to hide it.
“I’m sorry that it caused a disagreement between you and my mom, but I'm glad you told me.” I tried to encourage her. I know only time will tell if we make the right decision, but it does not scare me like it does my mother. I know losing Lucas's mom, Sophie was hard for her and she has lost way too much in her life already. But I'm not Sophie. I know what I'm up against, and I know that we can beat this.
