Chapter 66: Potential
It was getting harder and harder to find test subjects within the city. The few people that had survived the riots, the famine and the plague had mostly moved into the refugee camps. The gangs of thugs that had made a business of looting the city had long since disbanded, as there was nothing left to loot. Rebecca had rounded up as many of the strays as she could find, but in the end they only managed to get seven new specimens.
They were a sorry lot to look at, all of them underweight and unclean, four male and three female. The women had already been deemed inappropriate for the breeding program, due to advanced age or physical deformity.
