Chapter 12

Three years later,

Enitan and Christabel was rounding up their studies,

Things were getting pretty serious now so she'd to stop selling and focus more on her studies,

Pop-up quizzes,tests,project defenses and all those school works,

She hardly has time for herself.

She went from one lectures hall to another,

From one test to another,

Even Christabel wasn't left out one bit in the school work,

Enitan made her work her a*s out,

For her there was no room for frivolities and no carry over is allowed.

Soon their final exams came and went,

They'd one paper left for the both of them,

The final year students were throwing a party at Grand Hotel and they were invited,

"I'm not going." Enitan said when Christabel told her about the invitation,

She was lying on the bed going through her last project work when Christabel came in and told her about the party.

"I know you were going to say that," She sat down beside her and began to play with her hair,

"It's just a party and this would be the last party we would be attending in the school.

"Let's just go to this one pleeeeeease." She pleaded with her,

Enitan still said nothing.

"Remember the popular saying,

All work no play make Jack a dull boy.."

"I'm not a boy and I'm not Jack." Enitan said half seriously,

Christabel slapped her arms,

"Stop it.

Let's go pleeease." She continued to plead with Enitan.

The latter stood up from the bed,

"When is the party?"

"Next week end,

You must have been done with our last papers by then."

"Okay,

Where?"

"Grand Hotel,

I know the hotel,

I will drive us there."

"One more thing,

What are we wearing?"

"They came up with yellow and black as the color of the day,

But we can wear whatever we want to wear."

"Okay,I'll think about it." Enitan said to her,

"Why don't I like your I'll think about it?" Christabel asked,

Enitan smiled,

"Cause I'll get to think about that too." She joked.

After their exams,

Christabel continued to remind Enitan about the party which was just three days away,

She wouldn't stop talking about it,

She went on and on talking till Enitan finally agreed.

That night,

She pulled out and old yellow gown she'd kept for reasons she can't remember,

It was a bright yellow sleeveless gown, like a mini ball gown and had lot and lots flower prints all around it hem.

"I've never seen you wear that before..

Where did you fish it out from?" Christabel asked her when she saw the gown,

"I've had it for long now,

Just that I don't wear it often..."

"You mean you've never worn it before,

Not you don't wear it often."

"Okay,

Is it good?" Enitan asked her,

She didn't want to be the center of attention tonight.

"No it's good,perfect,

Not too showy and not too catchy,

It's the perfect gown for tonight."

The guys would c***k their neck tonight,

I bet that.

While Christabel wore an off shoulder skin tight black and yellow striped gown with a handy black purse and a black shoe,

Enitan wore her mini ball gown and they left for the party in Christabel's car.

The venue for their party was exquisitely decorated for once Enitan doubted whether the students were the only one hosting the party,

They were security guards at the entrance and it was even a red carpet party.

She was holding hands with Christabel as they walked down the carpet

Cameras flicked from here and there,

Enitan in her stunning gown which accentuated her beautiful skin color and made it more eye catching just smiled as they snapped her.

"Wow that gown is beautiful,

I'm sure its from one of those top designers."

" Can you see the designs?

Wonder where she bought it from?"

Comments came falling from here and there as everyone admired the melanin skinned lady in the bright yellow mini ball gown.

While the party went on,

Enitan looked around if she would see Tobi,

She still hasn't forgotten about him,

The dangerous looking man that saved her from being r***d,

It was hard to forget.

She can still remember his looks,

The scar on his forehead and the one right above his left eyebrow,

She still hasn't forgotten about him and was going to continue thanking him whenever she lays her eyes on him,

To her,

He's her lifesaver.

"Are you looking for someone?" Christabel asked her,

She shook her head,

"No one,

I'm just looking around,

This place is nice." She said to cover up her distraction,

Christabel just nodded and took a sip from her drink.

"Enitan is that you?"

Someone asked and both Enitan and Christabel turned to the smiling and surprise looking gentle man in yellow shirt and black jeans that was standing behind them.

"Oh my God."

He ran his hand over his hair and covered his face with his palms then he took it away and spread his arms,

"Dayo." Enitan called him surprisingly,

He nodded and hugged her,

She didn't squirm off like she would do others,

Even Christabel was surprised too.

"How far?

How've you been?" Dayo asked her as they disengage from the casual hhug

"I'm good,

How you?

You've changed a lot." She said,

It was no lie,

Dayo Daniel Alade had changed a lot.

After their greeting and all that,

Enitan introduced Dayo to Christabel who was just staring at the both of them

"Wow,nice to meet you Dayo." Christabel told him then brought her hands for a handshake,

"Pleasure's mine Christabel,

You look stunning." He commended,

She just smiled and then turned to Enitan.

"So Dayo,

What do you do?" Christabel asked Dayo,

He gave a cheerful smile before he started,

"Well I do little of this and this,

School and work,

Someone told me that I need to be serious before life takes me serious and I did just that.

I've concluded my exams,so I'm going full time to working..."

"Which school?" Christabel asked,

"Babcock University." He replied her still not taking his eyes away from Enitan who hasn't said a word to him since they sat down.

"That's good,

So where do you work as at now?"

"Well I work with my father in a construction company,

You know those kind of work and I'm the manager."

"Wow that's great,

Great achievement." She praised him,

He just nodded with a smile.

"So how did you get to know Enitan here?

Cause I know her and she's scared of guys."

Enitan glared at her and slapped her hands,

"I'm not scared of guys and you stopped that now." She warned Christabel who was now laughing,

Dayo smiled,

"Well I would say I met her by sheer luck,

And she changed my view on life." Dayo said ignoring both ladies squabbles.

"Awwn,

That's really sweet,

Tell me more." Christabel said amidst laughter,

"I just follow a friend cause we needed help for Jamb and I met her and we became friends till we'd a little misunderstanding and she stopped talking to me,

I tried talking to her but she ignored me,

I said sorry and I'm even saying sorry again." Dayo explained to Christabel,

She wasn't laughing this time.

"Christabel I'm tired,

Let's go home." Enitan told Christabel and stood up from the chair she was seating on,

Christabel and Dayo frowned,

"Why?"

They asked simultaneously.

Enitan turned to the both of them,

The expression on both their faces were so amusing,

"I want to go home,

It's late already and you promised we won't stay till this late."

She told her,

Christabel looked at her watched,

It was just a few minutes to nine,

"It's just to nine na,

Ah Enitan." She drawled lastly.

"Don't worry,

I guess she doesn't want to see me here." Dayo stood up from the seat,

"Nice meeting you again Enitan,

Christabel nice to meet you too,

Okay ladies,goodnight." He told them and left.

Christabel faced Enitan immediately,

"What's wrong with you?" She asked her,

Enitan said nothing,

"It's not fair na,

You know it's not."

"See Christabel,

It's not about being fair or not,

I don't want trouble for myself please."

"Trouble,

How?" Christabel asked her,

She sighed.

"Tell me please." Christabel pleaded when it became obvious Enitan wasn't going to start talking,

"Okay okay."

Enitan calmed her and told her everything about her and Dayo,

Folake's accusation and all.

"Wait,

You mean a useless girl made you stop talking to him because she accused you of trying to snatch her boyfriend?"

"Not that,

It was clear Folake like Dayo and they've done it,

I just like Dayo as a friend and nothing more,

I didn't want trouble for myself so I'd to leave him." She explained to Christabel,

"What about now?

Do you still like him as a friend?" She asked Enitan,

"There's nothing not to like about him,

Now he's more responsible and serious,

There's nothing not to like about him as a friend." She already the last part properly so Christabel won't go on and start quoting her wrong.

"Okay,okay,

I get it now,

You like him as a friend and nothing more,

That's really good."

That night,

Before they left the party,

Christabel sought for Dayo and when she found him,

He was with a few of his friends,

She pulled him aside and took his phone number then told him she'll get back to him later.

Dayo didn't think twice before giving her his cellphone number,

He knew she wanted to help him get back to Enitan and he was very appreciative too.

For almost four years he hasn't been able to take Enitan off his mind,

The girl that changed him for good,

The girl that made him see that life wasn't as he had viewed it all along.

Everyone in his family including his sisters and his father had been so surprised with his sudden change,

His seriousness and new found passion for accountability to the family business.

At first his father thought it was just a character and it would fade away sooner or later but one year passed and two,

Still there were no sign of him lagging behind rather he started bringing in more ideas on how to grow the business.

His father had been so surprised that his only son would one day become responsible,

It was only his father who knew the secret behind his sudden change of character and he'd encouraged him to continue that he'll one day find her.

Now he has found her,

He was never going to let her leave his sight.
