Chapter 11

By the end of that day,

The entire Southern Wing Hotel came to Enitan and Christabel's room to buy one or two things,

Even Larry came with his friends and they bought two shirts each,

Although she didn't sell it to them the same price she did to Christabel's father,

She sold it for a lesser price for them after all they were just students.

That evening,

She prepared dinner with Christabel in tow,

"Since you love to eat,

You should also learn to prepare you meals than have someone else prepare it." She'd told Christabel that night as they prepared dinner,

Even though Christabel's enthusiasm wasn't high

She still had fun preparing dinner with Enitan.

The semester kicked off,

Since it was their last semester as year one students,

Enitan appealed to Christabel to be more serious with her studies,

If not in lecture halls,

They would either be in their hotel room selling their merchandize or feeding or they stay at the school library.

Most of Christabel's old friend started having feud with Enitan cause they felt she had colonized their World Bank cause Christabel's was no longer a carefree spender and she no longer come around like she does in the past,

She hardly attend parties with them unlike how she would attend parties with them in the past and also foot their bills,

Now she was more tightfisted.

A few of them who were brought together by Franca stopped Enitan one day while she was coming back from lectures,

She wanted to hurry back to the hotel cause Christabel wasn't feeling well and she was all alone.

They stopped her while she was leaving the library hall,

"Here's the lowlife that has latched herself to Christabel,

She has used her charm on her and now...."

"Do you have anything better to do Franca?" Enitan asked her when she saw the seven of them, all standing with arms in akimbo and they'd disgusting looks on their face.

"Cause if you've you won't be standing here...

Well Felicia," She turned to one of the other girls,

She got to know her cause both take the same class,

"You should probably ask your boyfriend Kabiru to tell you the girl that slept in his hotel last night,

I'm just telling you because I like you and I hate two faced friends."

Immediately she said it,

Franca face went ashen,

"What trash are you talking about?" Franca spoke up immediately.

"Not trash,

I just want to tell you guys something,

Before you g**g up on someone else,

Check yourselves properly to know if you aren't snitching on yourselves."

While they were still murmuring,

She walked past them and hurried towards her hotel to tend to her sick friend.

Franca and her crew didn't cross part with Enitan again,

They were fighting amongst themselves cause Felicia found out that Franca was sleeping with her boyfriend Kabiru,

When Enitan told Christabel about it,

She laughed out loud in mockery,

"Normally, girls are bitches that snitch."

As much as Enitan avoided opposite s*x attention and advances,

It didn't stop them from coming to her,

Most times they drop by like they want to buy clothes and thereafter they would start making their intentions known to her,

While they spoke their mind,

She just watched them saying nothing and whenever they're done spewing their trash,

With a smiling face,

She turns them down politely.

Some went as far as buying gifts like flowers,chocolates,pictures frames and they leave it in front of her hostel as anonymous,

Christabel tagged them her secret admirers.

Enitan never takes such gifts,

She would bring them in and stack them by the door,

When Christabel ask,

She told her it would be there till whoever kept it comes for it.

Christabel was really amused at her way of handling such gifts.

One evening,

Enitan was returning from library where she'd stayed and lost track of time,

It was already late and she was rushing to get back to the hostel when two boys blocked her way.

She was terrified at the way the mean looking guys were looking at her,

She could tell from their looks they are up to no good,

So she turned back to leave,

One pulled her back,

"Where you think say you dey go?" He asked her in raw pidgin,

"L--leave m---me a--lone." She slightly stuttered and the guys began to laugh at her terrified looks.

"You wey dey form say your parts no dey for market,

Why you come dey fear now?"

"Abi no be you be Enitan?

The Enitan wey no dey let person hear word again for the school,

No be you?" The other guy who was wearing a black singlet and a black trouser asked her,

Enitan was ridden with fear cause she knew if no one comes to her aid these boy would do something bad to her.

"I did not do any thing,

Please let me go." She whimpered with fear,

"See am.."

"Guy you dey waste time,

Make we carry out this thing fast abeg." The other guys said to him,

He scooped her up and tossed her on his shoulder,

"Somebody help me!" Enitan began to should,

The other guy pulled out a knife from his pocket and showed it to her,

"I got slice you into pieces if you no shut up now." He threatened her,

"Please don't hurt me,

Please I'm begging you guys." She saw crying and pleading with the boys.

They ignored her cries and pleading and they took her to the old administrative block where even if she cries or shout her lungs out,

No one would hear her cries or even come to her aid.

He threw her to on the floor and when she tried to get up

The other guy dragged her down,

"No please don't do this to me,

Please I'm begging you.

Somebody help!

Somebody help me!" Enitan cried as she fought to get up from the floor where the other guy was pinning her down.

She'd never been intimate with any guy cause she believes a lot in staying a virgin till she gets married,

It would be a shameful thing for her if this guys have their way with her forcefully,

She has heard of girls that were r***d by complete strangers and she'd prayed not to ever be in such situation or go through such ordeal.

Now this guys are about to do the one thing she dreads happening to her,

No,

She won't allow them,

She'll never allow them.

What will people think of her?

How will she face the world and even herself?

She will be labelled the girl who got r***d,

The girl who couldn't fight for herself,

The girl who lost her virginity and her dignity to two strangers...

Never.

She bit the guy that was holding her and while he was whining in pain,

She kicked the other guy and she stood up from the floor,

Then she began to run.

Since she hasn't been to this part of the school before,

She didn't know where she was running to but she kept running while the guys were chasing her,

While she ran, she shouted and called out for help,

Hoping that someone, anyone or anybody would come to her rescue.

How those boys caught up with her she doesn't know but the force at which one slapped her,

She swallowed her cries and even bit her lips from the pain,

"You sabi run abi?

Run make I see." He queried her,

The other guy was about to slap her when someone took his hand from behind,

They turned to the mean looking face and another three boys behind the guy.

"If you touch the babe again,

I got make sure say you no use that hand do anything for your life again." The guy threatened,

Enitan was relieved she now had a savior,

"Who you be?" One of her captive asked the other guys,

"You know who I be?

You know me?

Comot for here before I go change am for you o."

The guy left Enitan and faced the guys who just came to disturb them.

A fight ensued between the two groups,

The guy who's stopped the boy earlier took Enitan's hand and left her out of the fighting scene,

"Which hostel are you heading to?" The guys asked her,

For a minutes,

Enitan forgot the name of her hotel,

She was so scared she thought she might pass out that moment.

"Don't worry,

You're safe now." The guy assured her and she nodded,

"I'm Tobi,

What's your name?" He asked her,

"Enitan." She murmured,

"Enitan,

You're Enitan Aghedo right?" He asked her,

She nodded not minding how he got to know her full name.

"Okay,

I know your hostel,

Come let's go."

He took her hand and together they walked down to the school.

He brought her to the school cafeteria,

"Thank you for saving me back there,

I don't know what I would have done down there." She thanked the guy,

"No problem Eni,

I would have done that for anyone.

We should be thankful I came at the right time." He told her,

She managed to smile even though she was still shaken inside.

She was able to see his face properly because of the light from the cafeteria,

He was tall,a few inch taller than her and he was light complexioned,

He'd a visible horizontal scar right on his forehead and another above his left eyebrow,

He looks rugged and seem like a hard man.

"Eni!"

Enitan turned to Christabel's voice,

She was running towards them,

"I'll be on my way,

Just be careful next time." Tobi told her and he left immediately,

"Eni!"

Christabel called her again,

Enitan shook herself and walked towards Christabel who seemed very worried.

"Where were you?

I was so worried about you,

Thought something bad had happened to you and you weren't speaking your calls.."

"I'm sorry,

I was caught up with something." She lied,

She didn't want to tell Christabel that she just escaped being r***d.

"What happened to your cheek?

There's a slap mark on it."

She asked her,

"Nothing..."

"Who did it?

Who slapped you?" Christabel asked,

Now she was angry.

If it was Franca or those her useless friends,

She would deal with them.

"No one slapped me..

Mtchew,

Let's go back to the hostel please,

I'm hungry." She took her hand and they walked towards their hostel.

Christabel wasn't convinced with what Enitan told her,

She knew something was off,

Enitan never comes back this late,

The slap mark,

Her clothes were rumpled and some part was dirty,

Plus she saw her with a guy and before she could get close,

The guy left.

Something happened but Enitan doesn't want to talk about it,

Enitan is always neat even before and after lectures,

She hardly talks to guys and she doesn't come home late...

She will have to find out what happened herself since Enitan doesn't want to tell her about it.

Christabel continued to snoop and snoop to find out what happened,

She asked some people she knew were taking the same lectures with Enitan,

While some ignored her,

A handful told her they hadn't seen anything out of the usual.

She would have looked for the guy she was talking to Enitan that night but she couldn't because she hasn't seen his face clearly,

She only saw her was tall and fair,

Nothing else.

Enitan didn't talk about that night incidence to her,

If she ever brings it up,

She'll tell her that nothing had happened,

She just caught up in something,

That something she refused to share with her.

She decided not to bother her about it,

If she doesn't want to share,

She doesn't think it was something she would want to force her to share with her.
