Run

Kids! They are here! Mike screamed at us probably feeling it too before he ran to the back door, removing all the locks on it to get it open. My heart began pumping hard and every thought disappeared, remaining my animal instinct. Get the hell out of here! I watched as Mike jerked the door open wide before yelling at us. RUN!! He didn't really need to tell me that at all because I was already doing it. I grabbed Richard, pulling him in my stronghold and Ran. I heard Richard telling Mike thanks as we ran out through the door into the cold chilling night. Too bad, we couldn't take Mike with us. We didn't want to risk the life of the person who saved us. The back door led to the back yard which at the end of it is the start of a forest with a mighty tree that had fallen in the way. The forest was a dark one which as well made the backyard at night very dark and creepy. I kept on pulling Richard with me as he stumbled trying to keep up his speed to match mine. As we ran I felt that they were closing in and my hopes were diminishing. We may have to fight back. Shift now! I yelled to Richard as we jumped over the 3ft tree. My bones were already moving, making c***k noise as they rearranged themselves, turning a human into a beast. The animal in me was fully awakened ready to take on whatever is thrown at it. I looked at my skin and saw it turning, spouting fur from every inch of the skin. The feeling of being free. I wasn't only a human or ordinary human as some called it, I was a shapeshifter, one who could turn into what is commonly known as werewolf. Fully in my animal form, I landed on the ground in fours, I turned to my left to look at Ethan who has also landed in his brown stripe form. I motioned my head towards a direction in the forest, meaning we ran there. He already knew the protocol. After all, we have been doing this for a very long time, just that we have never overstayed our welcome as we did this time. We began the race we had been practicing for over three years. The forest was dark and the ground was marshy indicating it just rained. My guard was thoroughly raised and we ran through many branches and rocks on our way. Minutes after I couldn't organize my thoughts as my gut kept twisting in many directions. Something was about to happen, I stopped for Richard to catch as usual before letting him go in front of me. Richard had hardly resumed the race when I stopped him abruptly, I could hear the thunderous heartbeat of another wolf. It was just too close! That feeling always kept me on edge, a feeling of an unknown wolf close by. Then suddenly Richard began to run in full speed towards him, running faster than ever and my heart pounded in anticipation. I lost my cool which is so unusual but this time was different I was truly nervous. Stupid boy! I wanted to yell at his wolf as soon as I saw him stop, then looking into the bushes with curiosity. Almost immediately a very dark wolf jumped out of the bushes, clearly going to attack him, Richard immediately moved back in fright. Reason because he was such a cry baby, one who couldn't take care of himself. So as a friend he always got me, after all what are we friends for. I was the fighter while he was the lover. My anger cloud my senses as I jumped high with my paws lifted up and pounced on the black wolf, attacking him. The sudden attack on him made us roll on the ground with a c***k, and roll in the leaves and everything in the forest. Getting a chance, I quickly got back on my feet. The black wolf growled loudly at me ready for a real fight, I couldn't stop the growl that came from my chest as well and we both stood in attacking positions sizing each other up. The wolf in front of me was massive, very massive and I knew he would never back down without a fight. Same here, I wasn't ready to back down either, I am going nowhere with those monsters and would fight for freedom to my last breath. But I couldn't risk Richard. The wolf seeing my reaction began circling me, he tried understanding my reaction. He sized me up wanting to figure out my weakness but I wouldn't let him do that. I began doing the same, encircling him, with my lips apart bearing my teeth at him. My inner wolf fought desperately to come out to tear this wolf apart with her mouth. But him being a male wolf I know it would take a lot and I was willing. After a few minutes of intensely sizing each other up, he made his first move. He raised his claws, tried to grab my neck but I was quick to react, slipping past him making him stumble. He got more furious as he set his eyes on me, only me. I felt a movement, turning back to look at Richard, I saw he was going to jump on the black wolf's back. Oh stupid! I thought. Why can't he just leave him to me? Lovers don't fight! They die and cause the fighter serious pains with guilt! I sped towards them as Richard got on his back, the wolf turned him over and grabbed him by the neck flinging him to a tree. He screamed at the impact, his body slipped down and his whining pierced my ears. Richard!!!!!! My temper rose to its peak and I ran towards the wolf, I leapt at it and he made his move to grab my leg, using the opportunity I gave him a kick with my hand leg. The hit was strong and I thought he would surely whine from the pain but he didn't. Instead a deep loud growl escaped his mouth. I took it as him surrendering for that moment. I rushed over to Richard as he tried getting up but kept failing. I pushed him down with my head giving him a little sound meaning he should stay down. He was already hurt and I didn't want him to get hurt anymore. Suddenly the wolf launched at me at a very fast speed, I suspected he was done playing games but I wasn't quick to move. He grabbed my neck tightly but I instantly pulled away as waves of pain spread throughout my body from my neck. Hitting the ground hard, I glanced at Richard to see that he was barely attentive and had shifted back to his human form. He laid there defenseless, more vulnerable than ever. Ignoring the pain in my neck, I rushed to his sides knowing I had to save. I hissed as more and more people in Ninja-like black clothing appeared with wolves behind them. I snared at the sight of the men. How much I did despite the sight of them! The wolf earlier moved in front of me with eyes narrowed, checking what I was doing. The sick feeling in the pit of my stomach got worse as more wolves encircled us. I don't want a pack! I hate to belong! How is that so complicated for them to comprehend? I touched my painful neck and whimpered a little, although I was hurt but I might have a chance to escape. But not with Richard very hurt and not healing fast. Emily! You are bleeding. I heard Richard's low voice as he touched my back.
