IT was bright and early in the morning when Roya decided to fix herself. Today is Saturday and she made plans of going to the amusement park with Amber.
She admits that she is scared yet overly excited because it is her first time going to an amusement park without her family or Alex.
This time, for the first time, she is going with a girl friend. After taking a bath, she just puts on a white shirt, denim jacket and a pair of jeans. She also puts some extra clothes on her mini backpack in case they get wet on the rides.
Suddenly, her phone rang, it was Amber.
“Roya, I am at your front gate.”
“Okay, wait for me,” she ended the call and headed for the gate.
On her way out, Raven called her.
“You should eat first baby,” she just nodded at her brother.
Upon exiting the front door, she saw a smiling Amber at their gate.
Don’t be fooled Roya.
Oh, it’s you again. Just shut your mouth.
“Amber, let’s eat first,” Amber nodded as response.
“So, you are Amber, nice to finally meet you,” Raven smiled and offered his hand.
Amber shyly accepted his hand and shook it.
“I can’t believe my baby finally making new friends,” he added.
“Raven,” she warned her brother.
They made their way in the dining area. It was a peaceful yet entertaining breakfast. Raven keeps on asking Amber about her friendship with Roya. He can’t stop talking with Amber which gives a different vibe on Roya.
“Raven, do you like Amber?” she asked which resulted to Raven choking on his coffee.
Amber immediately lowered her head out of embarrassment.
“What kind of question is that, Roya?” Raven asked while wiping the spilled coffee on the table.
Instead of answering, she giggled which earns a warning look from Raven. She stopped giggling and turn her attention to now embarrassed Amber.
“Hey Amber, how about I tour you in our house before we go?” Amber nodded in response.
“So, a little background on our house, it was actually built almost a century ago.”
“Really? It doesn’t look like it,” Amber responded. She’s responding to me, this is great.
“It’s because of the renovations. You see, my parents love decorating the house differently every year.”
“That’s sound amazing.”
“You think so?”
“Yeah, and uhm, a little expensive,” Roya suddenly burst into laughter.
“What’s so funny?” confusion is written on Amber’s face.
“You, how can you be so brutally honest?”
“Are you always like this?” Amber suddenly asked.
“What do you mean?”
“Like this, being talkative and friendly.”
“Why? Is it bad? I only show this side on mine with Raven, Alex and of course, You. Does it bother you?”
“No, I am just confused because you’re too friendly with me.”
“To tell you honestly, I feel so comfortable being with you. It’s like, I’ve known you for the longest time.”
“The feeling is mutual Roya. I’ve never felt so happy and real before I met you.”
“So, we’re really friends now, right?”
“Yes, friends,” Amber suddenly hugged Roya in which she returned.
“I hope you know what you are doing.”
“It’s you again, what’s your problem with Amber?”
“Oh, you will know Roya.”
“You have a nice room, Roya,” Amber said as she scanned her bedroom.
“You think so? Thank you. I fought my rights in this room,” Roya then giggled.
“What do you mean?”
“Remember I told you earlier that my parents love decorating the house, and my room is not an exception,” Amber just nodded and asked her to “Continue.”
“So, I came up with this room design five years ago, and I want to keep it like this for I don’t know how long. My parents were against it, of course, but I used my negotiation skills and so, I retain the design.”
“Why? Why did you fight for this kind of design?”
“Well, as you can see, my room is a mix of red, orange and blue, and in my opinion, it represents the fire,” she paused and looked at Amber’s rising curiosity.
“You might find it weird but I like fire. I like their colors, their movements, the heat and sensations that came from it.”
“I don’t think that’s weird. I also have a similar fascination, but with wind instead of fire.”
“Really? I’m happy that I am not the only one.”
Suddenly, Roya’s phone buzzed, indication that someone texted her. She took out her phone and saw that Raven texted her.
“Amber, we need to go to the garage now.”
“Why?”
“Raven texted me and he said he will drive us both to the amusement park in ten minutes,” Roya was in a hurry.
“Hey, you should chill out. He said ten minutes, right?”
“For normal people, ten minutes is ten minutes, and in some other cases, more than ten minutes. But this is different, it is from my brother, and for him, ten minutes is five minutes.”
Amber just go with the flow and followed Roya as she speeds walked to the garage. They are a moment behind Raven’s arrival.
“I told you,” Roya told Amber as she guided her to the back seat of Raven’s car. “He is always early.”
“I kind of like your brother.”
“What?”
“I mean, the always early part,” Roya stared on Amber even more.
“Not romantically, Roya.”
“You’re sure about that?” she can’t believe that Amber just confessed her feelings towards her brother.
I think my brother likes her too. Is this what you call, love at first sight?
“OH my gosh! Is that a castle?” Amber awed in surprise.
“Yup, and we are going there later.”
“You have a monarchy here?”
“Uh, what do you mean?”
“There is a castle, and in a castle, there should be a King or a Queen, right?”
“This is really your first time here, okay so let me explain. That is not a castle with a King or a Queen, and besides we don’t have that in this country.”
“Then what do we have?”
Roya stared at Amber in disbelief. Is she living under a rock?>
“What we have is a President.”
“What is that?”
“A President is the highest ranking in this country and is voted by the citizens, he governs us,” Roya shook her head, “You know what, let’s just go ride the carousel.”
“What’s a carousel?” I can’t believe it. How can someone be so clueless?
“That is a carousel,” Roya pointed to a circle shaped rotating platform with seats that is shaped like a horse.
“You turned horses into stone just to have this kind of entertainment?”
“What? Oh my gosh,” then Roya laughed upon realization, “It is not a real horse that is turned into a stone, it is a metal.”
“Are you sure about that?”
“Are you watching too much anime?” then she giggled, “We don’t have magic here. Come on, let’s just ride it.”
They queued for a bit before entering the attraction. Roya persuaded Amber to ride on one of the horses.
“Are you sure this is safe, Roya?”
“Absolutely,” she assured Amber.
Moments later, the carousel started to move, as well as the horses then she a scream beside her.
“Amber, are you okay?”
“You told me this is metal, how come it moves? You do have magic here.”
“It’s not magic, it’s a machine Amber. That is just hydraulic power.”
“Power?”
“I mean Pressure.”
“No, you said power.”
This is hopeless.>
After the ride, Roya invited her to eat some hotdogs. They arrived not more than an hour ago but due to stress from Amber’s innocence, she felt tired and hungry.
“You should go out sometime Amber. You know, to explore the world, or even just your surroundings.”
“Will you accompany me?”
“Of course, anytime. We are friends, right?”
“Right. Let’s have some adventure,” Roya smiled and nodded her head.
This is great.
“No, it is not.”
Don’t ruin the moment, you cowardly, mysterious voice.
“I have a name, Roya.”
Oh! You do? I don’t care.>
“Amber, let’s go to that castle.”
“There is no King and Queen there, right?” Roya laughed.
“No, just an attraction. That is called the Cinder Castle.”
“Who is Cinder?”
“She is a character in a book. A simple girl that is turned into a Princess. Come, let’s enter so you can see what I mean.”
Upon entering, they saw a series of painting that narrates Cinder’s story. Roya pointed to a painting of Cinder cleaning a big house while being watched by her step-mother and two step-sisters.
“That is when her father left her for the first with her step-mother and step-sisters. They showed their true colors.”
“You mean, they acted nice when her father is around?”
“Yes, and that is one of the things I hate, being tricked.”
They continued their exploration on the castle and ended up in the dining area where a lot of delicacies were offered.
“We should buy some, Amber,” they ate and take out some food afterwards.
“What would you do if something similar happen to you?”
“What do you similar, Amber?”
“You know, the part where she was tricked.”
“Of course, I will get mad.”
“What if, they have their reasons?”
“Reasons? They still tricked me,” Amber didn’t respond and continued her walk.
What is her problem?>
