CHAPTER 1 : THE START OF SOMETHING NEW
Dreams.
Why do people dream? Is it really just a product of our subconscious minds? Or, is it a part of our reality that we have long forgotten?
Some of our dreams are remnants of the memories of the past and also, a vision of our future.
But how can we determine if our dreams are just a ---
"What are you reading, Ari?" The sight of my book was replaced by an irritating face.
I am being interrupted by one of the most annoying people who ever lived on this planet. Her name is Janet. Our class president.
"None of your business, Janet." I calmly said as I tried to continue reading my book.
"Take a chill pill, okay? I just want to invite you to the cafeteria. I heard they were now serving your favorite-sushi." Again with her most annoying "trying-to-be-cute" face.
"I'll pass. I have already eaten." I did everything I could just so I would not sound too annoyed.
"Oh come on! I have not seen you eat a single thing! I've been watching you since the start of our lunch break!"
"Oh really Janet? That's kind of creepy!"
"No it's not! I am just observing you!" She said, trying to defend herself.
It was indeed creepy to be watched unknowingly.
"I am not something that you have to observe! What am I? A science project? An experiment?" I said, not hiding the annoyance in my tone.
" I'm sorry, okay? I was just trying to be friends with you. You seem so aloof. Its been three months since you were transferred to this school and, as a class president, I am just trying to get to know you more."
I just gave her a bored look.
"Look, we all wanted to be friends with you. But all we know is your name, Aria Vanessa Torres. And that you are also fourteen years old, just like me. We are just so curious. You haven't shared anything with us."
"Do I have to? I've read the students' handbook. It was never mentioned that a student needed to disclose personal information to the class president, teacher or anybody just to satisfy someone's curiosity." That's a fact.
"Okay, I wont force you. But I just want you to know that if you need help, I'm just here. Okay?"
"Okay." Just for her to stop annoying me.
I am fine alone.
I am never lonely when I am with my books.
Speaking of my books, which part was I reading before I was interrupted?
How can we determine whether our dreams are indeed from our memories or if they were just created by our subconscious minds? You can find out after reading this book.
There are 5 main types of dreams: normal dreams, daydreams, lucid dreams, false awakening dreams, and nightmares.
Lucid dreams?
Nightmares?
Those are the ones I frequently have.
Ever since I was a child I have kept on having that same dream. But the thing is, I just don't understand a single thing!
Why do I keep having those?
Is it really just a product of my imagination? My subconscious mind?
Or is it a vital part of my life?
I stopped reading the book I was holding when I heard the school bell.
I quietly went back to our assigned room for the next subject. For the next few hours, I would be listening intently to our teachers, then after that, I would go straight home.
School-Home-School-Home
This is my life.
No, let me rephrase that.
This is my boring life.
I kept on repeating my day over and over again.
Like I am just a robot.
Not allowed to make mistakes.
Not allowed to venture onto different things.
Most of the time, I just wanted to disappear and wander into a different world.
Just like the stories I have read.
I wanted to go into an adventure and discover something.
I want to have fun and enjoy myself, not minding the possible outcome or the consequences of my own actions.
I wanna be free!
Free from all the troubles of this life.
I want to restart my life and start something new.
Never have I known that this little wish of mine would be granted. Turning my life upside down and discovering something that I should't have.
And it would change my life.
FOREVER.
