Mind Talks

Chloey’s POV “Can you hear me?” “Yeah, I actually can!” “Really?” Joey’s voice in my head asked. “So if I said ‘Marsden is so sexy, I want to take his clothes off’ you could hear that?” “I did hear that!” I thought. I gasped as I felt the connection break. Joey groaned and rubbed her head. “Is it always going to take that much out of us?” She asked.  “The more you get used to it, the easier it’ll be.” Magnus assured us. “You have been doing so well, I’m really impressed. Now, I want you to try it when you are in separate rooms. Try tonight to communicate in your minds.” “That’s going to be even harder!” Joey whined. “It’s already so exhausting.” “No one said saving the Witching Domain would be easy,”  “We didn’t even ask to save the Witching Domain.” I pointed out. “Not that it’s not an honor and everything.” “It’ll all be worth it, okay?” Magnus asked. “You’re free to go now. Let me know how the communication tonight goes?” “Um, can we actually skip tomorrow?” Joey asked.  “Why?” “It’s Marsden’s birthday and I’ve booked the Banquet Room for his surprise party.” “Are you sure that’s a great idea?” Magnus questioned. “He needs to work on the barrier.” “It’s his birthday!” “Joey there are more important things-” “With all due respect, Director Magnus, my boyfriend’s birthday is very important and after all he’s been through, he deserves to be celebrated and therefore he will be. Chloey and I will not be here tomorrow, or the next day, but we can pick this up on Monday, okay? Great!” Joey sauntered out of the room without another word.  “Your sister scares me sometimes,” Magnus commented.  “Yeah, she scares me too.” -- “Do you have another boyfriend?” “Excuse me?” I laughed.  “I feel like I don’t see you as much anymore, so what's up with that Rosaria? You stepping out on me?” Rune raised his eyebrows.  I laughed. “Absolutely not! It’s just sisterly stuff.” He squinted at me. “Alright, I trust you, I guess. I’m gonna shower, you want to join me?” “Um, why don’t you get started without me, I’ll join in a bit.” “Don’t take too long. I wanna get a little dirty before I get clean.” He kissed me quickly before getting up and stripping off his clothes.  Okay,  I had to be really fast about this. I figured now would be the best time to try the connection with Joey. I laid on my back, breathing slowly in and out, willing myself into Joey’s mind. I was shocked when I actually heard her voice.  “f**k, Marden’s d**k is magic. I wish I could just f**k him every second. f**k he’s going so deep!” “Um Joey?” I asked.  “Chloey? I’m having s*x go away!” “Sorry! But hey, it’s working!” “Oh s**t it is!” Joey gasped. “Oh f**k that feels good!” “Alright I’m going!” I exclaimed, before breaking the connection.  It took a moment for my energy to come back, but I didn’t feel as exhausted as usual.  “Chloey, are you coming?” Rune called. “Yeah!” I yelled back.  I quickly pulled off my clothes and hopped in the shower with him.  “What were you doing?” He asked.  “Oh nothing, just talking to my other boyfriend.” Joey’s POV Planning a surprise party was hard as f**k! If I wasn’t with Magnus and Chloey I was with Marsden, which meant it was hard to do something without his knowledge. Though I guess the meetings were also a secret. I had to lie and tell Marsden and Keene that my sisters and I were working on controlling the blue energy and that’s why I was absent sometimes. An easy lie that would soon be true. Next week we would have meetings with Zoey and figure out what the hell this blue energy was. But this weekend, we party! “I hate my stupid birthday,” Marsden grumbled. “It’s always a shitty day.” “Maybe it will be different this year?” I smiled.  “Highly doubt it. Where are we going?” “Just to see our friends. Remember we have those?”  “Right, of course.” Marsden rolled his eyes. “Let’s keep it short. We can just go back to the room and have sex.” “We’ll see!” I opened the door. It was pitch black at first until the lights burst on.  “SURPRISE!” Marsden looked as though he would fain before laughing, seeing all the people here. I took a step back and let everyone hug and wish him happy birthday.  “He actually looks kind of happy,” Chloey whispered.  “Doesn’t he?” I smiled. “Thanks for getting everyone here…and sorry about what you heard yesterday.” “Let’s just not talk about it,” She laughed and hugged me.  Marsden approached me. For once, I couldn’t really tell how he was feeling. “So, I’m guessing this was all you?” He asked.  “Yes…and before you kick off about how you hate your birthday and it’s a horrible time to be celebrating it, I would just like to say that-mmh!” Marsden kissed me before I could continue my ranting. “Thank you, Joey. I think I actually needed this, baby.” “Oh…well then you are very welcome. I knew I was more aware of what you needed than you were.” I smiled.  “You’re an insane woman, but I’m so glad I have you.” He kissed me again. The party was amazing! Everyone was having a good time, and even Tate was behaving. I was starting to realize that Marsden and I could be normal people. I mean here he was having a twenty-first birthday party, surrounded by friends.  There were no Dark Vampiric Warlocks or barriers here. Here was just joy and happiness.  “Thank you for inviting Tate and me,” Zoey approached me. “It’s a nice party.” “Of course. I’m glad things are getting better between us, really. I missed you.” I smiled.  “I missed you too,” Misty was stomping over to me, pulling Keene’s arms. “Are you sleeping with my boyfriend?” She demanded.  “Me or her?” Zoey asked.  “Joey!” I shook my head. “Of course not, Misty. Why would you-” “People have seen you two sneaking around. Marsden says you’ve been a little absent lately. Is that the reason why?” “I’m so sorry, Joey,” Keene looked embarrassed. “I’m trying to explain to her that nothing is going on.” “I don’t believe either of you!” Misty threw her drink on Keene and stormed off.  “Misty!” Keene ran after her. “What was that about?” Zoey asked. “Normal people things.” Zoey’s POV I was glad life felt like it was back to normal for the most part.  After my conversation with Director Magnus, I truly was dropping all my suspicions of Marsden. I really had nothing to go on anymore. I decided that he was just worried about Joey being close with his family and that’s why he was afraid she was in danger.  Life was easier this way.  “So how do you feel about your blue energy meeting?” Tate asked.  “A little nervous,” I admitted. “The blue energy is kind of scary. I still don’t know how it saved Marsden. I thought it only worked for us.” “I’m sure you guys will figure it out with Director Magnus. You know it’s kind of cool having a girlfriend who is so much more powerful than me. Why isn’t it your family that’s going up against Count KIlloran?” “Because half of them are on his side,” I pointed out.  “Right. Do you know why your brother followed in your dad’s footsteps?” Tate questioned.  “No, but Brody always looked up to dad so maybe that’s it. He just wanted to be just like him. And now it seems Joey wants to be just like mom.” “I thought we were done with that.” “Even if Marsden isn’t doing anything actively dangerous doesn’t mean that he doesn’t come from a bad family.” I stated.  “True enough. What do you think will happen after graduation?” Tate asked. “Do you think they’ll just disappear or something. Go off on their own?” “I hope not,” I whispered. “I don’t want to be far away from my sisters.” “What will happen with us?” “We’ll be together of course. I’m in this one hundred percent. I will support you in everything, Tate. Your career as a hunter, avenging your father…all of that. I love you.” “I love you too. What do you want to do after graduation?” He asked curiously.  “Study creatures, I’ve always found them fascinating and I’m really good at it here.” I shrugged.  “I like that. So nice and simple. I wish I could do something like that.” “You can Tate. No one says you have to be a hunter.”  “No one else is going to avenge my father, so I do have to do it. After that, maybe I’ll do something else.” “I’ll support you in anything…as long as it’s not going back to Raina.” Tate laughed. “No, Zoey, I think you’re stuck with me for all eternity.” “Somehow, I’ll live with that.” -- My sisters and I stood in front of Director Magnus. “So where do we start?” Chloey asked.  “We have to bring the blue energy out. I’m going to see if I can trap some of it in a vial.” Director Magnus. “Hopefully it will come in the form of something that can be slightly contained.” “Yeah, it doesn’t usually do that,” Joey pointed out.  “Let’s just see what happens. Okay I’m going to pose a threat to you ladies okay?” We nodded. Director Magnus lunged for us, but we didn’t flinch or react. He did it several times and nothing happened.  “Hm… why isn’t it working?” He asked.  “No offense, but you’re not really that scary.” Joey offered.  “Chloey you’re not graduating.” Magnus stated. “What?!” Chloey cried.  “Your work here has been abysmal and there’s no way you could possibly graduate. Furthermore you will never set foot in my school again. You are never welcome here.” My body didn’t like the way he was talking about her. The blue energy awoke in us. It fully possessed us. It floated in front of us before expelling wind in Magnus’s direction, blowing him back. It exited our bodies quickly.  “Director Magnus are you okay?” I asked.  He groaned as he stood up. “That hurt,” “Now what is the meaning of this?” We looked at the door and we were shocked to see Mom and Chancellor Magnus in the doorway. “Girls,” Mom stared. “Why are you attacking the Director?” “We can explain.”
