Trust (Zoey's POV)

1171 Words
Attempting to keep Tate from going after the Ligneous Stake was easier said than done.  I felt like I had to watch him like a damn hawk so he wouldn’t slip away when no one was looking.  He was becoming even more distant than before. I knew it was all he could think about. He looked at that map every night and I just knew he was memorizing it for when he would actually take the journey.  I had never been more scared in my entire life. Everything was completely f****d up. Joey was evil and Tate was spiraling and the Witching Domain would be taken over by Dark Vampiric Warlocks. Things weren’t supposed to be like this. “Everything okay Zoey?” Magnus sat down across from me.  “How did this all happen?” I whispered. “Look where we are right now. We’re in a safe house in the middle of nowhere. And my sister…how did you let this happen?” “Zoey, there are many things that you don’t understand.” “I understand that Tate and I told you about Marsden Thorton! We told you he was evil and up to something and you just ignored it! You let him corrupt my sister and now she’s one of them! How could you do this? You’re supposed to be smart!” “I did what I thought was best. Marsden didn’t seem to pose a real threat-” “Yeah, well he was a real threat! He got Dark Vampiric Warlocks into our school! Tate’s mom is dead!” “And so is my wife, Zoey! We have all lost things to this war!” Magnus exclaimed. “I understand you’re upset with me and that’s fine, but you have to realize this is the real world now. We aren’t at school and none of this is a game. Mistakes are going to be made, dire ones at that, but that doesn’t mean all is lost. I need you to trust me the way your sisters do.” “How can you even ask that of me after all that’s happened?” I whispered. “I don’t trust anyone anymore. One of my best friends lied to me, my sister lied to me, my godmother lied to me. If I can’t trust them, who the hell can I trust?” “Everyone in this house. You can trust us. You have to Zoey. It’s so dangerous out there. I know you think I made terrible mistakes, but everything will make sense when this is all over.” “If it’s ever over.” I got up. “I’ll see you for blue energy practice.” -- I wasn’t as mad at Magnus after our blue energy practice.  It seemed like things were actually progressing. I however felt weird about feeling like Joey was there with us. I hadn’t felt that close to her in months. It felt like back before we started at Stormine and everything went to hell. “What’s wrong with you?” Tate asked as he entered the room.  “I think I actually miss her,” I whispered. “I don't know why. She betrayed our family, but…things aren’t right without her here. It just doesn’t make sense, Tate.” “Maybe she’s brainwashed, Zoey. I mean Joey is not the type to do that kind of thing, right? Maybe she was forced.” “But would Marsden do that?” I asked. “I mean you saw him! He wanted us close and he always made her accept our apologies and he would do anything for her. I don’t understand them. They don’t seem evil, but they do evil things.” “I don’t know, Zo. I’m sorry, but I don’t have the answers for you on that. But we can’t focus on that now. I have to start the journey for the Ligneous Stake. Who knows how long it will take to get it?” “Tate, we talked about this.” I sighed.  “Not everyone else talked about it. This is my destiny, this is what I was meant to do. You guys can’t keep holding me back!” “Holding you back? You think that’s what I’m doing? I’m trying to protect you Tate! I’m trying to help!” “If you want to help then…I don’t know, come with me!” Tate exclaimed.  “Fine!” We stared at each other for a moment. “Are you serious?” “Yes, I’ll come with you.” I whispered.  Tate shook his head. “No. um..forget I said anything about that. You can’t come with me. It’s much too dangerous, Zoey.” “That’s why you can’t go by yourself.” I insisted.  “What about your mom and Chloey?”  “They’ll be fine. They’re safe here. I’m spinning my wheels here, Tate, I can’t stay and I can’t be away from you.” “They’d never let you come with me,” Tate stated. “Neither would Magnus.” “Who says we have to tell them. We’ll just go, Tate. We’ll leave a note, but by the time they find it, we’ll be long gone.” Tate studied me. “Are you sure you want to do this?”  “I want nothing more than to do this. Let me help you. I can be more than just your girlfriend. I want to be your partner too.” I kissed him. “I love you, Tate.” “I love you too,” He murmured, pushing me up against the wall. “I love you so much.” He lifted me up by my thighs as his lips moved down to my neck. I moaned as I buttoned his pants. Tate laid me on the bed before kicking off his pants and climbing on top of me. He kissed me as he pushed himself inside of me.  This was the first time in awhile that s*x felt orgnanic and not like something Tate used to erase everything else in his mind.  Tate caressed my thigh as he wrapped my leg around his torso, so that he could push deeper inside of me. I gasped, feeling every inch of him.  “Yes, Tate!” I whimpered.  He kissed me again, his tongue moving in my mouth erratically. His thrusts became faster and more powerful. He moaned and groaned into my mouth before gently biting my lip and pulling it, getting a sigh out of me.  I scratched down his back and tossed my head back against the pillows in absolute pleasure. Tate was mere seconds away from his orgasm. He shut his eyes tightly and scrunched up his face as he came in me.  I smiled up at him. “I missed you,”  “I know. I’m sorry, babe.” He kissed me again before rolling off of me. “So um about leaving.” “Yeah?” “I want to go tonight.”
