Danger

Zoey’s POV It’s officially going on the third week that Joey hadn’t spoken to me. I couldn’t stand it anymore. I know I’m trying to catch her and her boyfriend in the act of doing something sinister, but she’s still my sister and I love her. She had to know that when all of this falls apart, I’ll still be here for her.  “Joey. Joey!” I called. She completely ignored me and she and Marsden walked faster. “Joey Anastasia Rosaria!” I knew that would make her listen to me. She hates being called by her full name. She stopped in her tracks and turned around to face me. “How dare you!” “Anastasia?” Marsden sked in amusement. “Shut up, Thorton.” Joey snapped. “What do you want, Zoey?” “To apologize. What Tate and I did was completely out of order and inappropriate, especially considering that I promised we would behave and we didn’t. It was wrong of us and I’m so sorry. To you and to Marsden.” I elbowed Tate. “I would also like to apologize. My behavior was rude and intrusive and it was a terrible setting for such a scene. I am a...nosy prick and I will work on that.” Joey studied us. “You mean that?” “Of course we do.” I insisted. “I don’t want to ruin our relationship Joey. I love you more than anything. I’m so scared for you, but if you say you’re not in danger, I believe you. I’m sorry and I won't accuse Marsden of anything again...without proof of course.” “I don’t think I forgive you.” Joey tried to walk away, but Marsden grabbed her around the waist and brought her back. “Where do you think you’re going?” He asked. “I thought you wanted to have sex.” God, maybe that really was all they did. Was I worried about my sister being in peril when in reality she’s just always under the covers with her handsome boyfriend? That would be something. “I do, but you need to forgive your sister.” “I don’t have to do anything I don’t want to.” “I love you so much, Joey but why are you so damn stubborn?” Marsden questioned. “Zoey is sorry and she loves you. Just give her another chance. You can’t be mad at her for wanting to protect you. She apologized and so did Tate. Don’t ruin what you and your sister have by being stubborn and holding a grudge over something so trivial.” Tate and I exchanged looks. To say we’re surprised is an understatement. Marsden actually wanted Joey to forgive us? He wanted us to still have a relationship with her. Who was this guy? Joey sighed heavily. “Okay. Fine. I forgive you Zoey.” “And?” Marsden pressed. “And I forgive you too Tate. I’m sorry for considering wrecking your elixir in class. I didn’t do it, but I probably would have tomorrow.” “Oh. Um, that’s fine.” Tate laughed. “Thank you for accepting my apology.” “I hope this is the end of your suspicions and accusations of us.” Joey stated. “Next time I may not forgive.” “It’s over and done.” I lied. I just needed her not to be mad at me anymore. I hugged her tightly. My heart sank. Even touching her I couldn’t tell what she was feeling. I hated feeling so distant from her. Maybe I’d know what she was up to if I could feel what she did. Joey pulled away looking at me strangely. “I love you Zoey.” She said. “I love you too.” I smiled. “Well, now we actually are gonna go have s*x. Catch you later.” She grabbed Marsden’s hand and pulled him away. “That was strange, right?” Tate questioned.  “Completely.” I said quietly. “ Joey’s POV I was convinced Zoey really did think I was stupid. I mean she can’t honestly think that I didn’t know that she and Tate followed us every day after classes. That’s why we always lost them. It doesn’t worry Marsden as much as it does me. He says since we’re aware of them, we’ll be one step ahead and therefore they won’t catch us. He’s started concealing his puncture wound all hours of the day and making sure his arms are visible. I still get worried though. What if something happens and the charm wears off and then everyone knows? “Marsden, you’re being reckless.” I warned.  “Joey, I have to maintain that everything is normal and fine. Sure there are some risks that come with that, but it’s the way it has to be.” “I’m just scared. I don’t want anything to happen to you.” “If we continue to be vigilant and smart, nothing will happen to me.” Marsden promised. “And your sister and Highmore really have calmed down.” “Why did you make me forgive them?” I asked. “Because they didn’t do anything wrong, Joey. They’re right. I am up to something bad. Can we blame them for wanting you away from that? I want you away from this too. Sometimes I think about breaking up with you to protect you...but I’m too selfish. I want to be with you too much.” I chuckled. “You really think I’d let you break up with me anyways? I’m already in this too deep, Marsden. I’ve met your mother, I’m preparing to meet Count Killoran. I’m in this one hundred percent, babe.” “That’s what scares me.” He whispered. “That I’ve sucked you into this dangerous life where you have to lie to everyone that you love. I hate that.” “I do too, but it’s worth it.” I kissed him. “If I’m with you all of this s**t is worth it. I love you, Marsden.” “I’m gonna marry you someday Joey. When all of this is over and we both make it out, I’m going to marry you. And it will be nothing like my parent’s marriage. We will be safe and in love and nothing will touch us.” “Do we want babies?” I smiled. “Little devils running around?” “Of course I want babies with you.” Marsden grinned. “I want everything life has to offer with you.” I watched Marsden fiddle with the clear sphere in the center of the room. It was a visual representation of the invisible barrier that surrounded the school. Marsden slowly removed a piece, but it didn’t dissolve. He twisted his hand, but the piece went back to its place in the barrier. Another failed attempt. “f**k! I can’t do this!” Marsden yelled. “I’m gonna try to kill Magnus, but he’s going to kill me instead!  I’m a f*****g failure!” “Marsden-” “Joey please…just can you go back to my room? I just need some time alone.” “Yeah, sure.” I walked swiftly through school. I wasn’t going back to Marsden’s room. Instead I went  to the one place I shouldn’t be. “Ms. Rosaria, please have a seat.” Director Magnus. “What can I do for you.” “You were right,” I whispered. “I need your help.” Chloey’s POV Things with Cade couldn’t be better. I really think I’m falling in love with him. I just feel so amazing and warm when I’m with him. I feel like he really sees me and cares about me. I think we can have something epic. So why was Rune Crimson on my mind so heavily? “You don’t get bored of homework?” Rune asked. “Of course not. It’s like a chance to better myself everyday. Why don’t you like it or take it seriously?” “Do you know I almost died when I was twelve?” He questioned. I shook my head. “Well I did. It’s a long story, but I broke my neck and it wasn’t looking good for me.  After that year I realized there were much more important things going than homework.” “You know Rune, that actually makes sense.” I said after a moment. “I’ve never almost died before so this stuff still seems important to me.” “Try almost dying just once. It’s not as bad as it seems.” Rune grinned.  “Not to mention your best friend’s future seems dangerous,” I pointed out. “Exactly.” “Well hopefully my sister stays out of trouble.” I sighed. “The way I see it, you’re the only Rosaria sister not in danger right now.” “How do you figure?” I asked. “Well, Zoey is dating the guy who's supposed to take down Count Killoran. And then Joey is with one of the most well known Dark Vampiric Warlock’s sons. And then there’s you. Sure you’re dating a d**k, but there’s no real danger in that.” “Cade is not a d**k. He’s a good guy!” “Yeah, to you and you only.” Rune shook his head.  “Well that’s all that should matter to me right?” I teased. “And I’m sorry no one who is dating Lavina Stone is going to judge me for who I date.” “Ouch. I’m trying to break up with her, really.” “She’s got you wrapped around her finger, Rune. It’s sad. But I get it. You don’t want to be alone so you suffer through all of her horrid qualities.” “Wow you’re brutal today, Chloey, what’s up with that?” He laughed.  “Just being honest.” I shrugged  “You know I love that about you. I can always count on your honesty.” “Yeah, I can always count on yours too.”  -- “Cade…oh Cade!” I whined as he thrusted into me.  “Chloey, “ Cade panted. “f**k…you’re so sexy…I’m close.” Cade pushed deeper in me as he gasped. I loved watching Cade orgasm. It was so sexy watching him lose control like that. It made me feel special. “I feel so much smarter after that study session.” Cade grinned before kissing me and getting off of me. “I love being with you like this.” “Me too. And you know what I love more? That we’ve only been together like this. There’s no one else we’ll share this experience with for the rest of our lives. We’ll always be each other’s first. Isn’t that kind of amazing?” “Yeah it really is. I love that you’ll always be connected to me. I always want to be connected to you too.” He kissed me. “I’m falling so deep in love with you.” “I think I’m falling in love with you too.” I whispered. -- Does Tate see Magnus a lot?” Joey asked. Zoey nodded. “What do they talk about?” “Honestly, I don’t know too much about it. Probably hunter s**t. We’re graduating soon and he’s the next great Highmore.” “Things are getting so scary out there. Do you think Count Killoran has some sort of plan to get in here to hurt Tate?” I asked. “It’s pretty impossible to get in here.” Joey said. “It’s impenetrable, believe me.” “Tate hasn’t said anything about that. I don’t think the danger is so immediate.” Zoey admitted. “But still..it’s scary being Tate Highmore’s girlfriend. After school things are going to get terrifying for him. “Never really thought about that.” I said quietly. “But nothing has happened yet, right?” “No, everything is fine. I guess I just forget who I’m dating sometimes.” “Well, if you need a reminder, it’s me.” Tate had come up behind Zoey and kissed her cheek. “What are you ladies discussing? The best looking guys in school?” We laughed. “Good one Highmore.” Joey rolled her eyes. A younger boy came up to me and handed me a bouquet of flowers and a note. “Special delivery.” He said before hurrying off. “Ooh, what is that?” Zoey asked. I smiled as I read the note. “Oh it’s from Cade. He’s so sweet. Since we’ve become serious he’s just gone above and beyond.” “That’s what happens when you take a guy's virginity.” Joey laughed. “Why do you think Mason was so obsessed with me?” “Wait, you guys are joking right?” Tate asked. “Cade lost his virginity like two years ago.”
