I slowly opened my eyes. Seeing outside the window. Still bright. Warm of the sun. I didn’t even realize I fell asleep. No, last night I could sleep at ease. Maybe I was just exhausted.
What time was it now?
I pushed myself from the bed, stretched my body – feeling the blood running around in my skin, and headed to the door. Unlocking it, I walked out and went downstairs. Seeing Auntie Feli was alone.
“Oh, hello, dear. You’re finally awake.”
“Hi. Um, what time is it?”
“Three. You were too quiet in your room so I thought you were sleeping I didn’t want to wake you up.”
“Thank you, Aunt.” I walked closer and looked around the dining room. “Where’s Nathan? Is he resting?”
“Maybe.” Maybe? “He hasn’t returned.”
