Vindona and Rorhena were Goddesses but more than that, they were best friends. But what would mythology be without some blood? Rorhena killed Vindona suddenly after years of friendship. There were multiple suppositions about this s********e people claimed that this was an accident and others said that Rorhena killed her best friend because of jealousy. After killing her, Rorhena took on Vindona's name and would be called Rorhena Vindona by everyone. If she really did kill her friend because of jealousy, why would she take on her name? I didn't really care what the real reason was but wouldn't think that the princess who got her name from that Goddess, Rorhena, would grab my wrist at the ball and call me Vindona insisting that she had finally found me. Why was she calling me Vindona? And why was she saying that she had been looking for me for thousands of years? I was just a nobody and she was the futur Queen of the country. She had to be mistaken somewhere. I knew that I never should have gone to that ball...

Chapter 1
"Vindona!" I screamed, feeling someone suddenly grab my hand and turned around to see a very tall woman. She had dark hair and glowing skin which was quite unnatural but I didn't have to notice a lot about her traits being focused on the fact that she was holding my wrist. I had never seen her face before but she was still looking at me with very intense eyes. As if she knew me. But that was impossible, I had no idea who she was. I tried pulling my hand away but she was so strong that I couldn't get away from her and my wrist started hurting: "Let me go." She was still staring at every inch of my face, not letting go of me for a second. "Let me go!" The stranger finally woke up and let go of my wrist with a confused look: "Vindona, I have been looking everywhere for you. -You are mistaking me for someone else. -Vindona... I... -My name is Sela. Not Vindona." The strange woman froze and she looked so sad that I didn't know what to say. I kind of felt bad not being the person she was looking for. "You are Vindona." Never mind. She was too stubborn for me. "I am sorry but I am not. -You are. -Listen, I am very sorry but you have the wrong person so leave me alone. -You can't leave. I finally found you." I tried walking away but the stranger grabbed my wrist again: "Don't touch me. -You can't leave again. I have been looking for you for thousands of... -For the last time: let me go. I am not the person you have been looking for and you are scaring me. -How could you leave me? Why did you? I... -Let me go!" I pushed the stranger with all my might but she didn't budge an inch. I knew I shouldn't have come to the capital. When I heard about the ball I couldn't help but be charmed but I regretted it now. I grew up in an orphanage and my friends and I always dreamed about going to the annual ball together. It was held in the capital and everyone was invited to attend but we didn't have the money to buy dresses and to get to the capital. It was just a dumb dream that young girls talked about when the lights were off. We didn't really mean it and just needed something to dream about. At least I didn't mean it. For some reason when my friends were talking about a prince seeing them and falling in love, I didn't find that romantic at all. I really wanted to see the ballroom and would have loved to wear a beautiful dress there but finding a prince wasn't my dream. We grew up and started working leaving the orphanage one after the other. I started putting money aside thinking that someday I would open a cafe or a library and live my own life. My best friend, Lenora, however never forgot about our little fantasies and would talk about the annual ball every once and then. I always listened to her but never thought much about them. I opened a restaurant and was doing well. I didn't think that someday Lenora would run up to me with a huge smile and tell me to come with her to the capital. I never dreamed of going to the capital. I was perfectly happy with my business and my friends but seeing how excited she was, I couldn't say no. Who else would have gone with her if not me? We had been talking about it for years and I had to support her in this journey. We would have fun and we would remember that night for the rest of our days. I couldn't have been more right. I was really amazed by the size of the place and soon realized that I had idealized balls as a child. I had no idea how to act or where to go and felt a bit uncomfortable. I couldn't help being disappointed by what a ball was. At least for now because we were just waiting for the royal family to come. Lenora on the other hand seemed overjoyed and seeing her this happy was enough to make me smile. She couldn't stop raving about everything: about how beautiful the decorations were, about how pretty the dresses were, about how much food there was... She couldn't wait for the royal family to arrive and tried guessing what the prince looked like. "I'm sure he is blond with blue eyes. And I am sure he is very tall and has a perfect smile. What if he asks me for a dance? I would faint!" I laughed: "If he asks anyone it should be you." We didn't have time to discuss this because the royal family got announced and way more people came in than I would have thought. I thought it would only be the King and Queen and their children but twelve people came in one after the other. Among them the King, the Queen, their siblings, their children, their cousins... Everyone walked in and there was in fact one of the princes that was blond. Seeing him, Lenora immediately giggled, grabbing my arm and shaking me. "See? He is so handsome!" I had to admit that all of them had perfect features and I could understand why people would have a crush on them apart from them having a lot of money. But the princes weren't the ones who caught my attention. Next to the King there was a woman walking and it wasn't the Queen who was walking further behind. The woman on the King's arm was his favorite daughter, Rorhena. She was known for being the smartest woman in the country and her father always asked her for guidance. It was even said that she was behind every decision the King made and everyone knew that if they wanted to be in the King's graces, they had to be liked by her first. But Rorhena didn't like anyone and no one ever saw her smile. I had never seen such a beautiful woman before and started imagining what it would be like dancing in her arms. However, she soon disappeared from my sight because of all the people in front of me and I went back to paying attention to my friend. Lenora didn't give up on the idea of dancing with the blond prince but until she was noticed by him, she accepted dancing with another man. Lenora didn't want to leave me alone but I told her to go. No one came up to me and I just awkwardly stood there not knowing what I should do. I felt all the stares on my cheap dress and decided to go out for a bit. But as I was walking, I suddenly felt someone grab my wrist and heard everyone gasp around me. I turned around to see who it was and froze when I recognized princess Rorhena. I had no idea why she grabbed me and was about to ask but at that moment Rorhena grabbed my other wrist: "Vindona?" I frowned. What did she just call me? Vindona was a famous Goddess. Rorhena herself got her name from another Goddess and Rorhena and Vindona had been best friends in mythology before Rorhena killed Vindona suddenly. I didn't really care what the real reason was but hearing this princess calling me by that Godess's name was very weird. "Your Highness, I am sorry but I think you are mistaking me for someone else. My name is Sela." But hearing my voice, Rorhena only strengthened her hold around my wrist and it started to hurt. "Vindona... It's really you..." She pulled me closer to her and was detailing every inch of my face. Seeing her from so close, I had no idea what to say. What could I say? The almighty princess was calling me by someone else's name and was looking at me with such intense eyes... She always looked like made out of stone and for once there was emotion there. I couldn't find out what emotions those were but she had emotions on her face. "Vindona... She let go of one of my wrists and approached her hand of my cheek but I dodged: "Please, let me go. Your Highness." I added your Highness just to be sure that I wouldn't be killed for giving orders to the royal family. I tried pulling my hand away but she was so strong that I couldn't get away from her. Everyone was staring at her and even my friend stopped dancing to see what was going on over here. "Let me go." Rorhena was still staring at every inch of my face, not letting go of me for a second. "Let me go!" I shouldn't have yelled at a royal but was getting very uncomfortable. Royal or not, don't touch me if I don't want you to. The royal in question finally woke up and let go of my wrist with a confused look: "Vindona, I have been looking everywhere for you." I massaged my wrist with a frown. "Vindona... I... -My name is Sela. Not Vindona." Rorhena froze and she looked so sad that I didn't know what to say. I kind of felt bad not being the person she was looking for. People said that the princess never felt human emotions but there she was looking on the verge of tears. "You are Vindona." My chin almost fell. How could she be so stubborn? She was supposed to be wise and smart. "I am not. -You are." I could play this game for a long time but even music stopped and the King stood up to see what was going on. Things were getting more and more awkward and I had to stop this: "Listen, I am very sorry but you have the wrong person so leave me alone. -You can't leave. I finally found you." I tried walking away but she grabbed my wrist again and I had to fight against my reflexes not to hit her: "Don't touch me. -You can't leave again. I have been looking for you for thousands of... -For the last time: let me go. I am not the person you have been looking for and you are scaring me. -How could you leave me? Why did you? I... -Let me go!" I pushed the stranger with all my might but she didn't budge an inch. "What is going on here?" People stepped away and just as I had feared the King walked up to us.
