Where should I go?
I wake up, mind rushing with so many thoughts. I debate evening going through with this as i sit in bed not wanting to get up. It has been 3 months since he left me, and i had decided that i needed a change. To leave town and to never come back. I groaned loudly getting out of bed. I put my pillow and my blanket into the last box and placed it into the UHaul. I was moving from my small home town in Maine across the country to pursue a career opportunity. I quickly went into the house and loaded my purse with my personal items and scrimmaged around finishing final details of the apartment i had spent 6 years in. I quickly grabbed the last breakfast food I had and ate it quickly and threw away my garbage. I ran out to the vehicle and started it up awaiting my phone to connect to the bluetooth. In tow i had my small 2008 Honda Civic behind me. I began driving and throwing some music on heading to my landlords to finalize everything. As I drove past many stores and houses memories hit me like tons of bricks. I had lived here for 24 years now. I am finally working up the courage to leave but for some reason it seemed so bittersweet. Upon my arrival to the landlords office i shut the vehicle off and locked it. I walked into the building greeted by the secretary. "Hello! What can I do for you today?" she asked "Hi! I am here to speak to Justin. Im giving him the keys to the apartment!" She smiled and gave him a holler. Promptly afterward he walked out. He looked good as he had a nice white button up shirt on with his black slacks and black dress shoes. He stopped in front of me sort of frowning as he looked at me. "I just came to give you the keys to the apartment. Im leaving today." I said my nerves jumping out of me. I tensed as I saw him look disappointed. "Thank you Dee. I wish you didn't have to leave so soon. After all, I wont be able to take you out for dinner anymore." He smirked at me almost taunting me. "You wouldn't have been able to take me to dinner anyhow. You left me remember?" I asked angrily, tears slowly forming in my eyes. I handed him the keys and quickly walked out and into the truck. I began my maps and begun the long journey out to Las Vegas, Nevada. It would be a 3 days drive. I gathered my thoughts and checked my messages quickly before i began driving Im very excited to meet you and I hope we can give you the opportunity you have been looking for. See you soon ~ZB I put my phone down and begun the drive. The next 3 days would be terribly boring driving through town after town. Highway to highway.... but I was grateful for this opportunity. 3 DAYS LATER I had drove straight through just about. I rested for 3 hours the first night and 6 the next. I finally arrived after countless red bull's keeping me awake and stopped at a hotel. I hadn't quite figured out my living situation as I knew this job opportunity came with traveling at times. I stropped the truck and checked my phone again. Another message had been sent through during my travels. Give me a call as soon as you are in town. We can grab a bite to eat and begin the interview ~ZB I quickly got the room and grabbed all of my boxes. Mostly just clothes and a few other necessities. I locked my room up and headed to the truck, car still in tow behind it. As I started the truck I noticed I had missed a phone call and had a voicemail but I decided to just drop the truck off and call back later. I drove 10 minutes down the road and pulled into the local UHAUL parking lot. I walked in saying I had a vehicle drop off and that I needed help removing my car from the towing setup. A worker assisted me in everything and I quickly paid in hopped into my car. I missed the comfortable seats and the shortness. I hated climbing into a big truck. I looked down at my phone as another message popped up. Hey are you in town? Have you made it safely to a hotel? Give me a call so we can meet for dinner and go through the interview process please and thank you! ~ZB I quickly picked my phone up and began a phone call. We decided to meet at a local restaurant on the outskirts of Vegas. I had walked into the diner with my eyes searching for that familiar face or voice. When I couldn't find him i simply told the waitress there would be someone with me. She seated me in a booth in the corner toward the back. I preferred sitting away from others. I didn't like eyes on me. Surprising from the job I am about to take on. I order us both waters and begin to look at the menu when I sense a shadow beside me. I quickly glance up and realize its him. I jump up and go to introduce myself. "Please take a seat. No need to get up and everything" he shyly chuckles at my eagerness. He sits down and introduces himself to me. "Im Zak Bagans its very nice to meet you..." he trails off simply forgetting my name. "Dahlia" I stated quickly smiling at him and looking back at the menu trying to decide if I was even hungry enough to order something. The waitress comes back with the waters for us and he decides to order for us both. "You are new to town so I figured I could get you to try some of my favorites if thats okay?" he smiles. I quickly shake my head yes my stomach in knots. He was much more attractive than I had thought. He had dark tanned skin, black hair and beautiful green eyes. I couldn't help but feel slightly attracted to him. His black Tshirt clinging tightly to his muscular body followed by dark jeans and black sneakers. I quickly glance back down to my hands realizing I had been caught staring at him. "So, Dahlia.. What made you decide to pack up and leave home for this job opportunity? I mean its a very strange career of choice!" he laughs as he finishes his sentence. I quickly laughed and replied "Well since I was very young I have had many experiences with the paranormal and growing up where I did I guess I just grew to fall in love with it. I have travelled in some states to check out local haunting stories and stuff. It truly hasn't been easy on me. At one point it cost me a relationship. But thats when I found out you were recruiting someone with experience and I had decided that maybe it was time for a big change in my life. That maybe I shouldn't sulk and be so para..." I quickly paused before finishing that sentence. I looked down and just fiddled with my thumbs realizing I had already just opened up a big part of my past to him. "Im sorry. I didn't mean to ramble on about me. What are you really looking for? Like an assistant or someone to actually investigate with you?" I asked. "I would honestly prefer someone to go all in in all departments. Work with filming, mic work, leading investigations. Anything you are willing to do. If you want to bring me coffee it would be appreciated though." he laughed heavily with a big smile toward the end. I couldn't help but watch him and admire him. Our food quickly arrived and I sat there and stared at the burger and fries. My stomach seemed to calm down after he had cracked a few jokes making me laugh. For some strange reason he had a very calming effect near him. But something inside him seemed to just linger. We ate and laughed and talked about the job. We didn't realize how long we had sat there in the booth just talking. I looked at my phone as I heard it Ping. My Ex had messaged me asking if I had made it safe. My stomach quickly churned and my eyes became glassy. I looked at Zak and as soon as we made eye contact the feeling went away. "Are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost!" he said I began heavily laughing at what he said and he cracked a smile, almost saying Seriously, are you okay? just with his eyes. "Is there anywhere i can get a new phone number? I cant afford a new phone but I need my number changed if thats okay?" I asked hesitantly and rather annoyed. "Yes. I can take you there if you would like. in fact I can show you around if you would like to drop your car off at my place so that its safe. Speaking of safe where did you get a hotel? I hope its in a decent part of town!" he said sounding concerned. I looked down and said " If we can leave my car at your place I would appreciate it" I said shyly. I showed him where the hotel was and his eyes widened. "Absolutely not. How much stuff do you have? I wont let you stay out there by yourself! Thats a very dangerous area of town!" He said looking at my phone screen and looking back at me. His words seemed very stern. He wasn't asking he was telling me. I looked dumbfounded at him. I didn't expect him to give a rats ass about me already. "I have maybe 10 decent sized boxes and my car of course. i only paid for the night cus i wasn't sure if I could even like the place. He quickly grabbed the bill and pull out his wallet and card. I looked at him somewhat surprised he didn't even ask for the bill to be split. We both rose from our seats and headed out the door as the waitress brought his card back to him. He threw the tip on the table and headed to the door. I was ahead of him but not for long as he rushed past me to hold the door open for me. I walked outside and to my car when he stopped me. "Follow me since I know my way around here okay?" He smily at me. I nodded my head yes in response and waited for him to hop into his vehicle so I knew what it looked like. I soon saw a Black car appear behind me and i threw my car in reverse and he sped past and toward the road. I quickly followed behind him and within 10 minutes we were back at the hotel. ZAK'S POV I quickly got out of my car and ran to hers to open the door. I hadn't really paid attention to how she looked until she got out of her car. Her hair was down to her lower back and was jet black. She had eyes the color of a crystal clear blue ocean. She was short around 5'4 and curvy. She smiled at me as I closed her door behind her. I heard her lock the vehicle up and we headed toward her hotel room. She had 10 boxes. I quickly told her to load up both mine and her vehicle and I would take her somewhere much more safe. We quickly filled both cars to the brim but there was still one more box. I sat there and thought where to put it when she looked over to me and grabbed it from my hands. "If you take my purse and gym bag i can fit it in my front seat. If thats okay?" she looked at me with her big eyes. I nodded in response and she quickly loaded the last box and moved her bags. She turned to me and walked over in my direction. "Where am I gonna stay if not here? I cant afford anything to expensive right now." She seemed to hold her head down in shame with the last sentence escaping her mouth. I looked at her and just said "Follow me okay?"
