Abilene gets to class right before the final bell, her friends whisper happy birthday to her. They decorated her desk and left presents, she thanks them quietly. She's known Ciara, Nora, and Ailbhe since the 3rd grade. She is just happy to be in class and alive. Her math teacher Mrs.Khadijeh wished her a happy birthday, then got the class started. The day went by fast, she almost completely forgot about the events this morning by the time the lunch bell rang. She couldn't even eat lunch, she told her friends that she needed fresh air and went to sit outside. It was strange when she got outside, she felt eyes on her. No one was in the courtyard, she must be imagining things. She sat on a bench in a corner towards the back. She was feeling very hot and she didn't understand why. She took off her jacket to feel the cool air against her skin. She needed to lay down, she was so dizzy. Before she closed her eyes someone was standing over her. It felt like she only been asleep a second when she opened her eyes a boy was sitting beside her, and her head was on his lap. She bolted upright and pointed at him awkwardly. She then asked, "Who are you!?" He looked at her sideways with a strange expression on his face. He looked so familiar as if she knew him. He was smiling kindly "I apologize, I'm a new student that goes to this school." He looked about 16 years old. "My name is Aden Artemio, you look like you passed out and I just didn't want to leave you here alone." She felt bad for pointing at him and thinking the worst of him. She suddenly touched his shoulder and it felt like she transferred something to him. As if something suddenly left her, she looked at her hands. He just kept smiling at her, she was acting strangely in front of a really cute guy. "Well, thank you for looking after me." He got on one knee suddenly and said "Anything for you princess." he kissed her hand. If she felt hot then, she was boiling now. She was blushing so hard she said "Thank you, Aden. I'm just a normal girl, I am not a princess. Well, I will see you in class." She thought she heard him say "Are you sure?" She was late to class due to passing out on the bench. Her English teacher Mr.Ronit let it slide because it was her birthday. She couldn't stop thinking about Aden's eyes for the rest of the class. They were like a beautiful green forest, so many different shades of green. Before she knew it school was over, she was super thankful. She was getting ready to head back home to the bakery, she would have cake with her mom and celebrate her birthday with her friends on the weekend. She made sure was paying attention this time while crossing the street. When she got home she was shocked her mom wasn't there and everything was torn apart.
