The night had become unnaturally silent.
Aren stood frozen on the hill overlooking Green Hollow while the mysterious goddess gazed at him with golden eyes.
Beside him, Selene held onto his arm.
Neither of them could understand what was happening.
A goddess had appeared before them.
Not in a legend.
Not in a story.
In reality.
The moonlight illuminated Lyra's silver hair as she looked toward the distant horizon.
For a moment, she seemed lonely.
As though she had traveled farther than any mortal could imagine.
Finally, Aren broke the silence.
"You said you needed my help."
Lyra nodded.
"I do."
"But why me?"
The goddess stared directly into his eyes.
"Because among all living beings, you are the only one who can survive what is coming."
Aren frowned.
He was an ordinary farmer.
Nothing special.
Nothing extraordinary.
So why would a goddess choose him?
"You must be mistaken."
Lyra slowly shook her head.
"I never make mistakes."
The confidence in her voice sent chills down his spine.
Suddenly Lyra raised her hand.
The world around them disappeared.
The village vanished.
The hill vanished.
Even the sky vanished.
Aren and Selene found themselves standing in an endless sea of stars.
Countless galaxies floated around them.
Worlds were born.
Worlds died.
Civilizations rose and fell in moments.
The sight was beyond imagination.
Selene gasped.
"What is this?"
"The universe."
Lyra answered calmly.
"No..."
She looked farther into the darkness.
"Only a small part of it."
Aren felt his heart pound.
For the first time, he realized how small he truly was.
Then Lyra pointed into the distance.
A massive black shadow appeared.
It stretched across countless stars.
Where it moved, galaxies disappeared.
Worlds turned to dust.
Time itself seemed to shatter.
Aren could barely look at it.
"What is that?"
The goddess's expression became serious.
"The end."
The shadow moved again.
Thousands of stars vanished.
Aren's face turned pale.
"Can something like that be stopped?"
"Yes."
Lyra looked at him.
"But not by me alone."
The cosmic vision faded.
The three of them returned to the hill.
Everything seemed normal again.
Yet Aren knew he would never see the world the same way.
Lyra stepped closer.
"I am fighting a war."
"A war that began before your world was born."
"A war that has lasted millions of years."
Aren remained silent.
He could feel the weight of her words.
Then Lyra continued.
"I want you to fight beside me."
The request struck him like lightning.
"What?"
Selene immediately stepped forward.
"No."
Her voice was sharp.
"Aren isn't a warrior."
"He isn't a soldier."
"He's just a villager."
For the first time, Lyra looked at Selene.
There was no hostility.
Only understanding.
"I know."
"That is exactly why I chose him."
Aren shook his head.
"I don't understand."
"Why would a goddess need someone like me?"
Lyra smiled faintly.
"Because power alone cannot save existence."
"Many of the strongest beings have already fallen."
"Many greater than gods have failed."
A strange sadness flashed through her eyes.
"But you are different."
Aren felt more confused than ever.
He wanted answers.
Instead, he only received mysteries.
The wind began to blow.
Far away, lights from the village flickered peacefully.
Aren looked toward his home.
His father was probably asleep.
His mother would worry if he stayed out too late.
His sister would complain tomorrow.
Everything felt normal.
Comfortable.
Safe.
Exactly the life he wanted.
Then Lyra spoke again.
"If you accept, you will leave this world."
Aren froze.
"You may travel across countless realms."
"You may fight impossible battles."
"You may suffer more than any mortal ever has."
Selene's face turned pale.
"No..."
Lyra continued.
"And when everything ends, I will grant your deepest wish."
Aren looked at the goddess.
Then at Selene.
Then at the village below.
His heart felt torn.
He never wanted adventure.
He never wanted greatness.
He wanted peace.
A farm.
A family.
A simple life.
Nothing more.
Nothing less.
Yet the image of those dying galaxies remained burned into his mind.
If the shadow reached this world...
Everything he loved would disappear.
His family.
His home.
Selene.
Everyone.
The night grew colder.
Lyra waited patiently.
She did not pressure him.
The choice belonged entirely to him.
Finally, Aren asked the question that mattered most.
"If I go..."
"Will I ever come back?"
For the first time since arriving, the goddess hesitated.
Only for a second.
But Aren noticed.
Her answer came quietly.
"I don't know."
The words struck harder than any weapon.
Beside him, Selene grabbed his hand tightly.
Her eyes were filled with fear.
"Aren..."
"Don't go."
Her voice trembled.
"We can live our lives here."
"We don't need any of this."
Aren looked at her.
Part of him wanted to agree.
Part of him wanted to run home and pretend tonight had never happened.
But another part knew that some doors could never be closed once opened.
Far beyond the stars...
The ancient shadow moved once more.
And somewhere within the darkness, countless crimson eyes slowly opened.
A voice echoed through the void.
A voice older than worlds.
"The chosen one has been found."
The shadow smiled.
And for the first time in countless ages...
It began moving toward Earth.
