Lizzy found this life too quick for her village experience. She felt like she was always late.
"Are you people always running? One second you don't even want to finish your food , the next you have forgotten your wallet, what is it with town life" she asked.
"You will adjust babe" Ian laughed off her statement. "It is hard at the beginning, but you will catch up. Right now I have an important meeting with our director. We will see each other at dinner. Find something useful, go shopping and remember to always use a cab".
Kissing her lightly on the lips he rose to leave. "But you haven't touched your breakfast at all? Just two sips and just like that you leave?" She persuaded, but he was running looking confused. " it is alright, tomorrow I will only make tea!"
Running back, he had forgotten his phone, his other phone on the shelves. He pecked her a little before running out.
"Why does one even need two phones? He says I will catch up, but I think not".
Since their arrival at his apartment, Ian's composure was wanting. He seemed uneasy and all Lizzy could do was blame herself for running from home. She felt sure he was afraid of her parents back at home. They called her so many times until Ian advised her to text them that she was safe, then change her contact. It did not sit well with Lizzy, but it was their only option. Her fingers were itchy to call numbers she had memorized against Ian's command, but her instincts warned not.
Their apartment was never dirty and even dusting it was just a way of keeping herself busy. Lizzy preferred walking around town against strong restrictions from Ian. Today she would try the supermarkets chances for job, though Ian felt no sense in it.
"Why would you need a job really? I leave you with enough money to just shop around and enjoy".
"I need to occupy my brain and shopping is not one of tfhe ideas Ian". She begged him, "working exhaust me with desire and eager for the next day. This shopping thing is depressing. Am filling this beautiful place with nonsense".
Ian knew she meant it. She was not just any other girl he had picked from the street. She was a well raised lady with calculated steps. Another girl would have exhausted him with misuse. How he wished his boss would take his resignation with ease and let him be for her protection. Start this new life normally, away from this crazy town, somewhere tranquil with Lizzy by his side.
"You will choose your choices well! Remember every choice has its consequences in this business", the general warned. "We warned you of this as you joined us and you clearly stated you would never get entangled in such nonsense. We clearly outlined for you what happens in case of such and you declared it would never be with you. Now look at your silly face begging to refuse".
Celine standing from her seat came on to him, sitting on his table facing him and playing on his tie seductively touched his neck then his ears. Whispered, "I would have swear our intimacy was enough! You know I waited for you from your hinding, thought it was just keeping low and ignoring me, but never crossed my mind you were busy falling in love? Are we done? Should I be worried?"
"Celly seat!" The general commanded. Ian didn't really get if he was agitated by him, or her for they were all sharing her, or he was just being bossy. Celine was the office play toy especially after any win or loss. She would hope from one to another and no one really managed to give her a no. He had grown to hate her and she contributed to a big part why he wanted change for his lifestyle.
But everyone knew her expertise and crossing her always lead to death or imprisonment. She was their terminator with great talent in termination modes. The general himself never crossed her so how would he? If Celly decided your days were over, not even fate would favor you.
"Keep her! Your village girl, it will be a good cover for you. But you will keep your position too and our secrets safe. Any entanglement of her with this, and Celly will do her job".
"I meant what I said Jackson, am done". Rising from his seat he picked his phones.
"Easy tiger", Celly interjected, "she will be the one to bear all the consequences remember, one she will be missing, the two, poof!" Immitating a guns sound, she demonstrated with her fingers.
"Celly I ordered you to seat!" The general adjusting his tie commanded. Now Ian was sure he was jealous. Ian had almost fell for Celine daily rustful moment, until he realized they were sharing her with the boss. This didn't seat well with his pride, though a woman with this kind of job could never be any lesser. Sometimes he felt like she was doing all this to forget her escapades with her victims.
"Three months", Celine chuckled at his demands, "then am out. Find my replacement".
"When did you start giving us orders booy?", He usually called him this anytime he wanted to demean him. He was used to it and it no longer hurt him.
"I make the rules here and you follow, there is no out and you know it. Now we will be contacting you both for a mission make sure to be ready. As for the collateral, guard it with your all".
Ian felt weak and helpless. Nothing came to his brain that was helping. He walked to his car and sat all sweaty. How would he leave? His sixth sense was now gone, departing him to think on his own? On a another day, Celly would have been the best cure for wars in him. Today she was his enemy. A bang from his window woke his senses. Talk of the devil!
"What? We are done Celine, didn't you even see how the boss stings when you crawl onto me. He is yours now. Am done. Leave me alone and don't you lay your filthy fingers on her. I have your sectets too you know. They sit well with me! Or you will kill me too?"
"If I wanted to, poison at your favorite spot in your hide out would have worked. I watched you for a week and that how I found out about her. If I on the other hand wanted her dead, her favorite coffee would have served me well".
"You are disgusting", Ian spit.
"Now, I just came to say you will satisfy my need when I don't have enough, or I will visit you at your apartment, our favorite spot. Remember all the things we did on that couch I helped choose, or on those bedsheet you always keep white. Maybe, she would like to hear!"
Ian wished to scream, but nothing came from his lungs!
