In her life she had sworn never to waste her life falling in love. She had grown up witnessing couples break up and heartbreaking each other's heart. She hated the process of meeting someone, falling in love with them then just when its cloud nine, fall apart. she knew if she would ever fall, it would be in her old age, and never let go. So she decided to wait!

Little did she know it would not last long. Her crushing day had neared and she was not ready. That morning she didn't wear any make up because to her it was just another day. dressed in her normal work wear, she rushed out, hair unkept with nothing but hopes for a good day. she couldn't even spare a second for her mother's cup of tea for the last thing she needed was a bad day with the boss. Fortunately, she was first to reach work and the boss was late. Anyone that comes in late plays silent and busy, its basic science! The boss kept on acting supportive and humble and this encouraged her to add a positive aura to her workplace. The day was breaking well.

She couldn't place time or moment he walked in because she was busy attending to the others, but the moment she saw him, she smiled. He smiled back and he must have thought that it was customer relations that she was serving. Deep down she felt excited and eager with every stare and every inch he neared her. Pleasantries were exchanged, stomachs filled with butterflies, but deep down she knew he would be gone like any other customer. This made her sad.

She knew he was the most handsome man she had ever set her eyes on, dark skin, deep dimples, white teeth, tall and heavy, just as she had fantasized in her dreamy moments. He carried himself with pride, one that she didn't know would be the end of them. He was manipulative with his purchase, controlling but with a charm. This rubbed well with her eager wildness that she had hid so well her entire teenage. She could feel the cat in her yearn for his masculinity, one he concealed so well with authority and ignorance. He must have sensed her prowess from afar and too would just ignore her to lure out her beast.

Her whole life she didn't know love, pain and lust. She believed it was a waste of time and opportunities by her agemates, who were already loving or breaking up the fifth time . She wanted to wait. She had boys her age profess love and emotions towards her though it didn't move or stir her a little. She didn't want it. No she didn't feel it back, she came to realize. All this time she didn't feel it. All the while she knew it would be levelage to want it, and it would be worthless. It's not that she didn't try, she did. All she did in it was wait for the day she would fault and put a stop to it. It wasn't exciting, it wasn't mutual.

On this day it was different! She wanted everything about him. The way he talked, the way he smiled, his laughter. The way he ignored her prowess yet acknowledged her presence, she. wanted all of that. Did he too? She wondered.

Her fears were calmed when he left some work behind, with commands of how to be handled. That whole evening his face kept flashing her thoughts. She would see his smile in her thoughts and smile back like a toddler, to the ghost of him. If only she knew this would be the norm for her whole life, she would never have entertained these thoughts.

That whole night she didn't sleep. He was everywhere in her thoughts, flashing back and forth all the memories of things and word he spoke or did. Was she cheeky or was she falling? She didn't care. Finally she had met those movie hunks that you catch a bullet for and she was ready. He would come back he had said and she kept wondering if it was a date he concealingly gave. He wanted it to be their date. He wanted it to be real because with. him she would forever be ready. He had not left any contacts behind and gratefully, she assured herself it was for the best for she couldn't hold down her itchy fingers. This one she was sure she would call him every. night and morning. This one she would do all those things her friends in high school did with every boy while she had stayed busy acting nun.

The following days he did not come. It killed her every nerve turning her numb and deaf to any dates and interest thrown her way. She craved him, yearned to just hear him order her around, exchange smiles and watch his chuckles. She dressed each day with her best catchy styles that said "I look good for you" . But he never showed up. She undid her hair, shaved the unwanted ones like he would know if any was different. She polished up every hour, for who knows the time, atleast she knew the place.

She was now. giving up. Whenever her phone rung she would get jumpy yet she knew he didn't have her number. But what if? What if he felt the same? What if it is mutual? What if he couldn't resist her either?

And what if he didn't even remember her? This consoled her. She started composing herself back to normal self. All her high temperature blood lowered back.

But what if? What if it was mutual? What if he couldn't resist her either? And what if he didn't even remember her? This consoled her. She started composing herself back to normal self. All her high temperature blood lowered back. It was the silliest life to live, honoring and romantizing a ghost who didn't even care if she existed. What if he was in the same place too? She even prayed he be! What would her friend Paige say? She would term her dumb, naive and crazy. Who fantasies a total stranger? Who craves a crush? She would be right. If it was paige, she would be quick to call her all the dumb like curses for this was uncalled for. But she was into him and nothing would ever change this. she had fallen deeply with a stranger. She was determined to try and see where it would end. Fear kept whispering that it would not last. Furthermore, she was just a village girl. Lizzy's boss had entangled her mind in the day's errands away from the shop. It was really a busy day and finishing up early was all she needed. But it made her happy to occupy her whole life with work inorder to get him from his mind. This week she would completely forget him. Throughout the errands she ensured to flirt with as many clients as she could, believing this would strengthen her fear of him being with someone else. How had she entangled herself in this? She even picked contacts to socialize her boring life. When she got back, the shop was too over crowded to notice him. She had too much awaiting her with no option but to get busy. Her boss kept throwing her funny glances which made her uncomfortable. She couldn't place their meaning. She kept rehearsing where she had delivered and picked purchases and couldn't place anything she had missed. Why was she wearing that face like something was amiss? She concerned about the completion of her duties for whatever was up with boss would be dealt with later. On the other end her boss decided it would not wait. She smoothly paved her way to her now chuckling. Whispering, she informed her that the man who claimed he left some work behind, is busy snoring on the work's couch. He has been there for over two hours and when asked if to be assisted by another, he refused claiming the one with all the instructions for his work is Lizzy, and waiting he would. Lizzy stretching her neck met the unexpected. It was him. Today he looked more cute and polished. He had even added a shinny expensive chain around his neck. His shirt and khaki pants were smoothly ironed with a touch of class casual look. His shoes were casual brown that had not been roughed by the dusty roads. Who was he? Where did he work? Was he a night runner or why was he sleeping on their couch? She could not dare to wake him up. Not atleast without his work ready. She printed out his papers, put them in a clean envelope, breathed out, checked if it was neat, breathed out again then clothes ready to match to him. Suddenly she was ill. She couldn't breathe well. Her legs became weak, refusing to move. Her boss all long had been watching her side hawk eyes wondering if it would go well. She asked at ear short if she was okey awakening her senses. Remembering she was at work, she marched to him weakly. In front of her was the only man her young self had daydreamed about. She had fantasied about him in slutty ways like her friends had done to real boyfriends unlike her doing to an imaginary form. She could not imagine how she would fare without him once he wakes up, picks his work and leave. It would all be a gone moment. Lizzy called upon her inner pride to handle this moment but it was gone. She summoned the brave part of her but it was also gone leaving her frail and sick.
