i can marry her

Lizzy hid all the negativity towards Ian pretending all was going well but Ian couldn't help but notice. First it was the refusal to be dropped home then now she blushed off his attempt to even peck her. She kept insisting that they needed privacy any time he tried getting closer. Ian decided to give her time but it was getting worse as she now didn't even want to hold hands. From what he had gathered from Nick, her parents were obviously already aware of the relationship and against it. Lizzy must have been rebelling against them to be with him. One thing he had to do was be on his best behavior incase they go digging around. He knew here only thing they could get to was his social activities nothing more. No one knew what he did except for Nick and he was safe with that. The reason why this had always been his hiding zone, would never sell him out. He still hadn't found a place he could settle, especially now those thoughts kept knocking. He would picture waking up daily with Lizzy beside her, sharing silent moments around her. Would she even agree? The doorbell rang, something unexpected since Nick never rung and his women were never shown where his apartment was. He waited in ignorance hoping they would just give up but this time it was more prolonged. Hiding from the curtains he peeped from inside only to see a couple peeping unbothered whether it was right or wrong. Immediately he knew what he was about to deal with, something he had expected. Rushing to his bedroom, he brushed his hair twice, removed his oversized t-shirt replacing it with a White sweater. He was one that believed good looks made him confident. Walking down the stairs, he breathed to a walled mirror forming white foams on it then smelled his breath to test how fresh he smelled. Peeping once more wishing they had left, disappointed they hadn't, he stepped out looking like an angel he hoped they were looking for. "Good morning." Both assessing him from head to toe, obviously satisfied with his look but couldn't let it show, continued to give him the dissatisfied face. "Morning, I am Lizzy's mum and this is her father." "Kindly, come in" Ian welcomed them uncomfortably. Her mother shooting in leaving the father reluctant, she continued to inspect inside then proceeded to sit. He shot her a sharp gaze, like he was communicating a warning. Somehow he saw Lizzy in her. "If its okay, allow me to serve you tea, water or juice." "I'll have none". The dad replied hurriedly while the mom comfortably asked for water. Another shot of warning at her. "We did not come to overcrowd you sir, we are here for Lizzy only." Her father said plainly, "we have tried holding talks with Lizzy but it seems she is getting difficult. Maybe you will listen to us. We don't want to loose our only child, wherever thing you have with her is not heading anywhere. You have already accomplished so much, please allow our daughter to do the same for her future. Just disappear from her life and with no time she will adjust back. We are here to beg you for this, it is the desire of every parent to want what is best for their child. The day you become a parent you will understand." Her father did not even blink while addressing him. He definitely was a no nonsense man and all his description from Nick fit him perfectly. Ian at that moment wished he had such parents to protect him from this cruel world. His mother had never protected him from anything, instead she insisted that he fight back like a man. His father, living with another family had never even looked at him twice. Maybe this is why Lizzy was a perfection to Ian. In her he saw a full woman graced with qualities and courage to walk through the world. "Sir, I hold deep respect for you and the protection you have for your child. It is with the same measure that I respect your daughter. I have never disrespected her will or acted against it. She is well raised, reason behind why am head over heels in love with her. I am ready to do anything to win her heart except leaving her. If you want me to assist in improvement of her future I will. If you wish I help to get her back to college am ready. Just don't make us break what we have started. I'm ready to loose and be with her." Walking two steps closer towards him, then standing just under his face, for he was medium in height, he stared at him deeply hissing "Are you suggesting we are not enough for our daughter? Or incapable of giving her what she deserves? We didn't come here to beg for help. We came to put a stop to this nonsense." Ian knew what proud people were like. He had refused to deal with them intentionally but instead ignored them. Now with Lizzy's father he knew he couldn't ignore. He had to tolerate him even if it meant begging. "Am sorry if I offended you sir. I was just trying.." "Don't try" he interrupted, "our decision is final. We want you to leave our daughter alone." "What if I marry her?" Both looking startled, stared at him mouth open. "Yes! Marry her legally with a marriage certificate?" Ian was so sure he would hit her now, he angrily left almost hitting his shoulders. "Am sorry sir", her mother rising to leave, "Lizzy is all we have right now. I totally understand what her father is going through. I wish I can help but in this case we want what is best for her. Unless you prove you are the best to her father. Am sorry!" Standing where they left him, his world seemed to spin around him. He heard their car leave and the urge to chase after it crawled in, but his feet stuck. He wanted to beg but he also wanted to have them respect them. He was sure Lizzy would listen to them eventually and change her mind. He would have to see her today to give his side of story and see if he had any chance. Sulking at the thought of no family could assist him in pursuing Lizzy, the fact he would do it alone was just hard. His grandmother was too old to be bothered with love matters . If only it was another woman he was into, it would be easier. He didn't want easy for it would end, had ended before it began. Ian felt Lizzy parents had her strong instincts just like Lizzy about him. He didn't know why she still wanted him yet he was sure she felt he wasn't purely clean. He didn't want her to discover him yet as he was working on changing all of him. He would quit for her, a chance he had given up on. No one had made him wish for change until he met someone that made him feel like he was home. Lizzy! Maybe telling her how he felt would have her stand by him. Maybe telling him who he really was and the change he intended to be would have a chance. No, that would wait. He was sure he didn't want to lose her in any way. One thing he had to ask her is if in anyway she could do future with her. He had to know if he mattered to her much. He had lived alone for long to know how it felt being with someone. Owning someone, for you. Ian decided to pass by her place of work to request they meet after work though she had insisted that they keep it low. She brightened after seeing her something he had noticed everytime Lizzy saw him. This always made him excited like he was with his family. "Heey!, I really don't want to bother you while you work, I just was requesting we meet after work. You said the next time we get coffee it will be on you, remember?" "Mmhhhh, coffee then, hope you can even finish one cup, not nibbling on it." Lizzy replied. Smiling as he squizzed her palms blushing off the urge to squiz her in a hug, he walked away happy he had got to her before her parents. He wanted to be heard before they changed her mind. He was ready to discuss together how they would handle them and only Lizzy he could do this with. It was beyond Nick, beyond his grandmother. Together they would know what to say to them or do to them to win their trust. When he got there, he expected she was already there annoyed he was late but she was not. She must have been delayed at work, he thought. He waited for over 30 minutes but she was nowhere to be found. He asked Joe if she might have come before but he had not seen her. He called her but it went directly to voicemail. Feeling shattered he decided to leave her a message.
