Chapter 1.The Unexpected Meeting.
Jared and Yana had been childhood neighbors for as long as they could remember. Yana had always harbored a secret crush on Jared, but he never seemed to notice her. She would often catch glimpses of him playing outside with his friends or mowing the lawn with his shirt off, and she would feel her heart beat a little faster. But Jared was always too busy to pay her any attention.
Years went by, and Yana's crush on Jared only grew stronger. She watched as he dated other girls in high school and went off to college, leaving her behind in their small town. But Yana never gave up hope that one day Jared would finally notice her.
One fateful day, fate brought Jared and Yana together in an unexpected way. They both happened to be working in the same office building, and they accidentally bumped into each other in the crowded hallway.
"Oops, sorry about that," Jared said, flashing Yana a smile.
Yana's heart skipped a beat at the sight of him up close. "No problem," she replied, trying to sound casual.
Jared looked at her for a moment, trying to place where he knew her from. "Wait, aren't you my old neighbor from when we were kids?"
Yana's heart leaped with joy. He remembered her! "Yes, that's me. Yana," she said, extending her hand.
Jared shook her hand, a look of recognition crossing his face. "Wow, it's been ages since I've seen you. How have you been?"
Yana blushed, feeling giddy that Jared was finally paying attention to her. "I've been good. What about you? How's life treating you?"
Jared shrugged. "Can't complain. Just trying to make a living. What about you? Are you still living in our old neighborhood?"
Yana shook her head. "No, I moved away for college and ended up finding a job here in the city. It's been a big change, but I like it here."
Jared nodded, genuinely interested in hearing about her life. "That's great to hear. I always knew you were destined for big things."
Yana's heart swelled with happiness at his words. "Thanks, Jared. That means a lot coming from you."
The two of them chatted for a while longer, catching up on old times and sharing stories about their lives. Yana couldn't believe that her childhood crush was finally talking to her, and she couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, there was a chance for something more between them.
As they said their goodbyes and went their separate ways, Yana couldn't shake the feeling of euphoria that had come over her. Maybe her twisted faith had finally started to straighten out, leading her to Jared, the boy she had always dreamt of being with.
And as she walked away from him, she couldn't help but smile, knowing that maybe, just maybe, her childhood crush was finally turning into something more.
---Jareds Pov---
"Jared, dude! It's been ages since you last swung by. Where on earth have you been?" Kent exclaimed with a grin, his excitement palpable as he greeted his best friend.
Kent's question hung in the air, filled with curiosity and a hint of playful banter, as he eagerly awaited Jared's response.
Jared chuckled, a twinkle of amusement in his eyes as he replied, "Oh, you know, just been around. But hey, I couldn't resist dropping by to say hello to my successful best friend!"
A warm smile spread across Kent's face at Jared's words, a surge of happiness filling him at the sight of his long-time friend. "Man, I've missed you so much," Kent admitted, his voice filled with sincerity. "I was actually planning on giving you a call later to invite you to a gathering we're having here at the office."
Jared's eyes lit up with excitement at the invitation, his grin widening. "Really? That sounds awesome!" he exclaimed, genuinely pleased at the prospect of spending time with Kent and their colleagues.
As they exchanged stories and caught up on each other's lives, the bond between them grew stronger than ever. And as they laughed and reminisced, Kent and Jared knew that no matter where life took them, their friendship would always remain unbreakable.?
