Chapter 14 It took an unexpected answer from Bryan for Jenny to make up her mind. They were in bed on Friday night, the room in near darkness. Though the blinds were drawn, slivers of streetlight slipped through and danced on the wall, giving Jenny something to focus on as she listened to Bryan breathe. “Why didn’t you tell me about the picnic until Wednesday?” she asked, breaking the quiet. The bed groaned as he shifted his weight toward her. His shoulder grazed hers, hot and sticky in spite of the running air conditioning. “Didn’t I tell you already?” She rolled her eyes.
