As soon as we were a few metres in to the forest, and the pack house was no longer in sight, Joe stripped down.
“We’ll be faster if I carry you.” He said, passing me his clothes. “Can you hold on to these for me?”
“Where are you taking me though?” I asked anxiously, clutching his clothes to me. “Won’t he hunt me down?”
Joe paused, looking at me seriously. “I’m taking you to your mate.”
“But he doesn’t even want me!” I protested. “He left me here.”
Joe reached out, patting my hand comfortingly. “He had no choice.” He said softly. “Trust me, he wants you. It would have damn near killed him to walk away.”
