Family Dinner.
Abel's POV.
From the moment I grabbed her boobs at the bar, I felt connected to her. Vivian has been playing her dirty tricks these days and it's so annoying that she succeeded in drugging me. Things would have gone according to her plan if Jade didn't dance that nice.
Her dancing moves help the drug effect, making me lose my mind dangerously. Waking up beside her gave me the urge to want her more than expected, however, I decided not to act impulsively and chose to leave before she woke up.
From the moment I left, I've started digging into her past information just to know who she is. And when I get the information I've been looking for, I can't resist the urge to find her again. She is the best way to play my Revenge card and threatened Vivian to back off.
"So son, it has been a long time since I set my eyes on you. I guess you are busy with work but you should try checking on me from time to time considering my state of health" Dad pointed out. It has become a part of me to leave away from home ever since I've lost the reason to be here..
I would have stayed close to Dad if he hadn't brought Vivian in but it's not something that can be reverted, I just have to adapt to the situation. He already threatened my position as the heir if I refused to get marry and he would give everything to Vivian's daughter since she already has a spouse.
Even if I didn't care about the properties, I already made a promise to Mom that I would make sure she didn't become a loser in the end. This is a wealth she built alongside my father and someone like Vivian isn't worthy of taking water out of it.
"I'm sorry about that, Dad. I've been busy these days" I replied sharply, choosing my tone carefully to avoid more suspicion.
"Sit down" He sits on the couch opposite mine and his expression seems more serious. We are going to have a man-to-man conversation and some words of motivation, nagging and all.
I prepared myself mentally for it as I awaited his response. "I don't know how you do this but how do you plan to go on with your marriage when you keep prioritizing your work over anything else?e. Look at that young girl, she is vibrant and caring and to see someone like her is rare, do you want to lose with this behavior of hours?"
I can't help but smile, it seems choosing Jade is the best choice from the start and I didn't regret any of that. "I'm sorry about that, I will become more careful now that I'm married and devoted to someone"
He stares at me for a while before responding. "It sounds good. The word "devoted" " He complimented and I smiled.
Just then, I heard the sound of footsteps approaching us and I was quick to notice that Jade no longer has the cheerful expression on her face, raising alarm in the air. "Jade, are you okay? What happened? Why is your face so dull?" I rush to her sides and pull her away from Vivian.
I heard her chuckle, I clenched my fist and wanted to burst out but her response held me back. "She mistakenly hurt herself"
I became alerted, it was obvious Vivian had tried to tamper with Jade again. "What exactly happened? What do you mean she mistakenly hurt herself?"
"Baby, I'm fine. It's just a slight cut. Thanks to Mom, she took care of it and the bleeding" Jade chipped in. I felt a bit angry when Jade called her mom but the word "blood" washed it away.
I examined her body, checking if she was hurt. "Are you hurt anywhere? Is the cut deep? Let's go to the hospital"
Jade held my arms and assured me. "I'm fine love, there is no for going to the hospital"
"So what are you guys saying privately that makes Jade get hurt" Dad demanded.
With her cunning smile, she moved closer to him and replied. "I was trying to plan things out with my daughter-in-law. We are having our family dinner very soon and Able always refuses to turn up, I think it's better to discuss it with Jade instead. Maybe she will manage to convince her husband"
Watching her reaction, I noticed the last part is a trap for Jade. If I didn't show up, Jade would become a laughing stock for her.
At this point, I would let Jade know some things about me and find a way to protect her.
"Oh, that's true. This is why it's good to have a good lady around you" Dad teased and she laughed. "So son, you are now married and it will be nice to come to the family dinner. After all, your younger sister is also coming"
Feeling annoyed, I grabbed my wife's hand and muttered. "Have a nice day. My wife will cook for me, so there is no need to prepare a feast. We will come around later"
Without waiting for their response, I left with Jade and drove back home without saying anything to Jade. It's obvious she has a lot to say but I guess my expression kept her back.
A few days later, I decided to go to the family dinner to avoid Vivian's trick. For the past few days, I've been so busy and left Jade all by herself which is bad.
I heard her footsteps approaching me and I turned to her looking stunning in a long white Jade dress that accentuated her name and her body.
"Good evening, thanks for your decision " She uttered before looking down.
My heart was nailed with guilt, seeing her that way. "I'm sorry love, I've been busy these days that I have no time for you"
"It's fine, there is no need to feel that way. It's just a contract, so you are free to do what you want"
She entered the car without glancing at me.
I ignited the engine and drove straight to the main mansion. This was the first time I would attend the dinner in ten years after my mother's death. It's too toxic to have others around the dinner.
On getting there, we were welcomed by the maid and I led Jade inside.
"Big bro!" I heard a familiar voice and I recognized it immediately. It's Vivian's daughter, she is standing beside her spouse.
However, things get twisted when the man beside her fixes her gaze on Jade with hard
emotions. Then I heard Jade mutter in a low breaking voice.
"John?”
