3 PM—with the warm-like afternoon sun gleaming from outside the windows, which made a fady—yet dappled pattern appearing on walls. It was Saturday, while a din full of gathered rumors were starting to get louder—Mark, the 8 year old son of the Reyes family, asked each of his siblings to lend him a hand for the upcoming contest this Monday. "Familia, can one of you volunteer for my practice in the spelling bee on Monday? Anyone?" But his siblings feared Mark as he was nicknamed “The Einstein” of the Reyes family. "I have a date." Jave replied as he hurried outside. "Tinatawag ako ni bebe!" Clarissa also replied as she was going outside while she answered the call, though she was actually the one starting it. "Babe, tinatawag mo ako diba?" "Meron akong practice sa basketball eh, mamaya lang!" said Felix, rushing to get his jersey and basketball. "But, I'm dumb.." Nikhi murmured. "Uhh, but I gotta go! Kailangan namin mag practice para sa Provincial meet next month! Sorry Mark!" exclaimed Danicka as she went out the door like flash, even though she only lingered in the garage. "ABCD lang alam ko!" said Cindy. Mark was frustrated, upset of the complaints they said. "Oh come on! No one? Really? Though it is true that I'm smarter, but even for my practice cannot support? I shouldn't have asked then!" shouted Mark. "Why don't you let Velia compete with you instead?" Nikhi suggested. Everyone stared at Velia, although she was busy poking with needles on the voodoo dolls, she reluctantly volunteered. "Good." said Mark. "Our deadline starts tomorrow, right after the mass." he added. Velia nodded and arranged the vodoo dolls and needles in her toy chest box. "Pfft, you don't even talk that much. Of course, I'll be the winner! Especially over a loser like you!" Mark mocked as he chuckled. But Velia didn't mind as she had a plan...
