Bearbug

Maddie's POV:

“ My legs are screaming in pain and I am hungry.” I whined, i don't care if I look like a whiny kid but I am tired and hungry. We have been walking since morning in the thick forest and the sun is starting to set.

“ We don't have time to stop and rest and we don't have any food with us. Quit the drama and just walk, witch.” Rowan growled, his tone don't suggest he is least bit tired but I am more human than them and I need food and rest.

“ I am not taking any more steps from here. If you want to continue without me, be my guest.” I stopped walking and stood there, my hands on my hips and a stern expression on my face.

“ We don't have time for your tantrums, we need to cross this forest before the night take over. You don't want to be a meal for the residents who stays here.” His words made fear took place in me but the hunger and aches all over my body made me stubborn.

“ If I don't get a meal right now then atleast someone is going to have a meal.” Harry chuckled, earning a scowl from Rowan.

“ You suck at jokes little witch, don't try again.” Ugh! He is a infuriating man.

“ I AM HUNGRY.” I may seem stubborn but I am damn hungry I may eat a whole village.

“ We have nothing on us other than clothes and we need to search for fruits or something.” Harry said, sitting on a fallen branch of tree and i followed him but the stubborn Rowan stood there like a statue with a stink eye.

“ Use your witch powers and get some food. Harry! We can't stay long in the forest, don't take her side.” Rowan warned his friend who had a sheepish look but didn't got up from beside me.

“ How inhumane are you! Mr.Werewolf!” I taunted knowing very well that it will get on his nerves, he opened his mouth to throw a insult but thundering footsteps freezed him.

“ What the f**k is that? It's not a time for an earthquake.” I quiped, my heart racing as the ground started shaking and the trees are dancing like someone is stomping on the ground which made them dance.

“Shhhh!” Rowan silenced me, his body stood on alert and Harry stood up from his place leaving me alone on the tree branch.

“ YOU are so dramatic,Rowan.” I rolled my eyes and stood up, steadying myself as the ground shook again.

“ Shut the f**k up, Maddie! It will chomp you up like you are nothing if you don't keep quiet.” Rowan growled, his anger potent around me and his words shut me up and i stood there awkwardly. What does he mean it?

“ What do you mean?” I whispered, walking slowly towards him as a loud animal like growl pierced through the air making me freeze in my steps and my heart fell to the ground with fear. I have never heard the growl like this before and it sounds so close to us.

“ It's a bearbug. I don't know if it's one or more but it is definitely a bearbug.” I don't if Rowan is confirming for himself or informing me as his straight face didn't show anything and his entire concentration is on finding something around him which i don't know what that it as he is searching for something.

“ Oh my god! I don't want to die today. How are we f*****g going to survive from that gaint monster.” Harry is literally hypervelanting beside me and seeing him like this making me nervous and i am literally shaking with fear.

I have never encountered any kind of monsters or other supernatural beings and this is the first time i have heard a loud growl which sounds it is hungry.

“ What are we going to do? Can we not just run? Or hide somewhere?” I asked the busy man Rowan who is still looking for something and gathering some leaves?

“ Do you think it's a f*****g small bear? You and i will be like its foot. They will just stomp us like ants, Little witch.” Ugh! I hate his untimed and very bad sarcasm.

“ What the hell are you doing?” I ignored his words and started gathering some leaves before sniffing them and gathering them in my hands. If we need to be safe then I need to rub these scented leaves on our bodies so the monsters won't detect our scents and ate us.

“ We need to put these on our bodies so we will blend with the trees.” I closed my eyes and recite the spell which will give these leaves more scent of the forest and rubbed them in my palms extracting the liquid from them.

“ Do you think, it will work? Harry asked, suspicion and fear clear in his tone and i just put the liquid in his plan and he started rubbing all over him and i did the same and gave some of it to the scowling werewolf who reluctantly took it and applied all over his body.

The ground is still shaking and we can hear the thumping of the foots. Rowan directed us towards a tree trunk which opened up like a cave but it not that deep. We huddled together.

I can feel Rowan's body head seeping into mine as he sat beside me and we have so little place.

“ Why don't you move some and give me some breathing space.” My head is spinning with his scent and his nearness. My heart is not only beating with fear but also with excitement because of his touch.

I shouldn't be having these type of reactions because of him but God knows why.

“ Little witch!” He growled lowly and the sound went straight to my core. I squirmed, trying to stop the tingles spread through my core and the pulsing of my c**t.

Why does he have to sound so hot!

Ugh! I am officially lost my mind and body.

“ S..stop calling me that.” I growled, tried to stop the quckering in my voice but i stuttered like an i***t.

“ Never, little witch.” Rowan taunted back making me clench my fists so I won't punch his pretty nose.

“ Will you guys please stop! Look at that.” Harry's voice sounded so small as he whispered and pointed out something infront of us.

A gasp left me as i came face to face with the bearbug’s gaint legs and I have to crane my neck to see his face and it's so ugly and horrific that i have to stop myself from screaming in fear.

It has a gaint head with a single gaint eye between his forehead and his mouth is filled with sharp teeth to the brim and it's so hairy that I feel the ick seeing it. I shuddered in fear and disgust.

“ Oh my gosh! I am going to hurl.” I covered my mouth with my hand as the one eyed monster teared into a wild animal and started chomping and gulping. The dead animal’s guts and blood spilled everywhere making me gag so much that i fear I am going to vomit everything and get the monster’s attention.

“ Shhh! Come here.” Rowan pulled me in his arms. Hiding the view and hugging me close in his arms and i instantly warmed up, my face feels hot and oddly I feel so safe and forgot everything.

It's so odd that it's startling.

Whatever happens next happen but for now I'll just snuggle in his warmth because by time the monster finished his grisly feast darkness surrounded us and like Rowan warned we are not safe in here at night.

This tree cave has to be over place to hide and sleep till dawn.
