A newly discovered room in the basement of Gravewood High is filled with mirrors but they don’t reflect reality. Instead, they show versions of students who have died or made terrible choices. Slowly, the mirrors start swapping students with their reflections, trapping their real selves in a shadow dimension inside the glass. The school becomes a labyrinth of shifting hallways, endless reflections, and whispers that tempt and terrify the students. Only those who confront their “mirror selves” and uncover the room’s dark history can survive.

Chapter 1: The Basement Door
The detention bell had barely rung when Alex Monroe found himself dragging a stack of old textbooks down the dim hallway toward the basement. He grumbled under his breath, shoving his hands into the pockets of his hoodie. Cleaning out the basement wasn’t exactly how he pictured his Friday afternoon. “Seriously, who even uses this place?” Tyler Reynolds groaned behind him, kicking at the linoleum floor as they walked. Emma Winters and Mia Harper followed quietly, their expressions a mix of annoyance and curiosity. Emma’s dark eyeliner was slightly smudged from sleep, while Mia clutched a clipboard, ready to record everything in meticulous detail. The basement door at the end of the hall was heavy and rusted, and the key from the janitor’s office rattled nervously in Alex’s pocket as he unlocked it. The smell hit him immediately damp wood, dust, and something faintly metallic, like old coins left to rust. “Ugh,” Tyler muttered. “I’m not touching anything down here. There’s probably rats and mold and” “Shh,” Emma whispered, holding up a hand. “Something’s… off.” Alex paused, squinting at the cracked, peeling walls. There was a faint light flickering from deeper inside the basement, though none of them had brought a flashlight yet. “Probably just the fluorescent bulbs,” he said, though his voice lacked conviction. They stepped inside, and the door creaked ominously behind them. The air was colder than expected, damp against their skin. Dust floated in the weak light coming from the single overhead bulb, sparkling like tiny specters. At the back of the basement, hidden behind a stack of old filing cabinets, Alex noticed a door that hadn’t been there on previous clean out days. Its frame was carved with faint symbols, almost like scratches made in a hurry. The wood was darker than the rest of the basement, and the brass handle had an unnatural gleam. “What is that?” Mia asked, stepping closer. Her voice trembled slightly, though she tried to hide it. “I… don’t know,” Alex admitted. Curiosity pushed him forward, overriding caution. He pressed a hand to the door, and the metal handle was icy cold, almost burning in contrast to the rest of the basement. Emma circled the door, running a finger along the carvings. “These symbols… they look like old letters, but nothing I recognize.” Tyler snorted. “Yeah, probably just some graffiti from the 70s. Let’s just open it and get this over with.” Alex hesitated, then turned the handle. The door creaked open to reveal a room unlike any basement they had ever seen. Mirrors of all shapes and sizes lined the walls. Some were ornate with gold filigree, others simple and cracked. The room seemed larger than the space allowed, stretching in impossible angles. Immediately, the group felt it the chill of being watched. Every reflection stared back at them, but not quite right. Alex’s own reflection moved a fraction of a second later than he did, while Emma’s smirked when her face was blank. Mia gasped softly, noticing that the reflections weren’t perfect; they twisted slightly, as if alive. “Uh… maybe we shouldn’t” Tyler started, but a whisper interrupted him: “Come closer…” The voice seemed to come from the mirrors themselves, low, almost begging. The four teens froze, hearts pounding. Every instinct screamed to run, but the pull of curiosity and fear was stronger. Emma stepped forward, hand grazing one of the mirrors. Her fingers left a faint ripple in the glass, as though the surface was liquid. “It’s… breathing,” she whispered. Alex swallowed hard, feeling the same unease he’d had when he first noticed the flicker in the light. “We shouldn’t be here,” he said, though he couldn’t move his feet. “Something… isn’t right about these mirrors.” And for the first time, all four of them realized that the basement wasn’t just old and abandoned it was alive. Somewhere in the shadows behind the mirrors, a presence stirred, watching them, waiting.
