CHAPTER 14 “Well, here we are,” Kenneth said, looking around the emergency department’s lobby. “Now what?” Brooke approached the check-in window. A young woman who had frosted her hair silver and wore it in a long, messy ponytail opened a plastic sliding cover. “Can I help you?” “I was told my father came in by ambulance a while ago. Trace Daniels. Do you know where I can find him?” “Daniels?” The young woman clicked a few buttons on the computer. “He’s been admitted, but he’s stable at the moment. Would you like someone to show you the way?” She glanced at Kenneth. “Due to his fragile condition, we don’t want to excite him.
