I learned the hard way quite some time ago that a person is wise to negotiate the circumstances under which he or she can be terminated with as much attention to detail as they would those under which they are hired. I negotiated a fairly comprehensive severance agreement, but I think you’ll find that nothing about the agreement is outlandish or onerous for the bank. Greed was not my reason for taking the job. I simply wanted a change.”
