Michael "What do you mean it's bad news, Michael? We're talking about my mate here in case you forgot." Maddox said as he knocked on the door, I couldn’t help but sigh as I went to the door and open it only to be met by Maddox's glaring eyes. "What do you want me to do, Maddox? Look, I am happy for you that you finally found your mate but that's the only thing I can do for you, being happy." I said to Maddox and I was about to close the door again when he suddenly blocked his foot preventing me from closing the door. He was frowning at me as if he was starting to get annoyed with my presence, but it only took him a minute before his expression went calm. "There's something that you can do for me, alpha Michael," Maddox said calmly and I can't help but raise my brows when I heard him call me alpha. Just like Lincoln, I consider Maddox as my brother since we're classmates from grade school to college, we've been friends since we're babies that it makes me uncomfortable whenever he calls me alpha and so I force him to just call me by my name. Maddox looks so helpless right now, when I look at his face I can't help but notice his pale eyes as if he hasn't slept for a day or two. "Okay, tell me everything that you know about your mate," I responded to Maddox and then I motioned for him to come inside the penthouse, the two of us headed to my office then. "I assume your mate is still in the cellar?" I asked Maddox, I already had an idea of what kind of favor does he wants from me even though he didn’t tell me what is it. He wants me to set free his rogue mate and that's what I've been thinking the moment he said that his mate is a rogue. "Yes. Henry tortured my mate, Michael." Maddox complained to me but I just raise my brows at him. The way he said it feels like he wants me to get mad with what Henry did to his mate. "It's Henry's job to torture the rogues that dared step a paw on our land, Maddox," I told Maddox but the indignant look on his face tells me that he's not buying it and he's still mad at Henry. "I know but she is my mate," Maddox replied defending his self. "Tell me about her, Maddox," I said to him as I sat in my swivel chair while Maddox sat on the single sofa in front of my office desk. "Henry captured her last day. I went to the cellar later that night because I smell an intoxicating smell of coffee and vanilla, when I reached the torture room in the cellar I came eye to eye to the most beautiful woman I've ever laid my eyes into. Then I just f*****g lost it when I noticed the terror and pain in her eyes, I snap out of anger and then I attacked Henry to stop him from whipping my mate with a f*****g flogger. Henry said he was sorry when it sink in into his mind that the rogue he was torturing was my mate but I'm still pissed at what he did to my mate." Maddox told me the story of how she met his mate while I was just carefully listening to every detail he said. "You need to help me, Michael. My mate might be a rogue but she is not feral, her wolf's eyes are still blue. She's fragile and she needs my care. I know that my mate is not capable of killing, she's too pure and innocent for that." Maddox said anxiously and I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at what he just said. "In case you're being blindsided by the mate bond, Maddox, rogues tend to be devious, and some of them like disguising themselves as a fragile and innocent one. You shouldn't judge a rogue by their innocent looks, they're called rogues for a reason and those reasons are not always good." I remind Maddox but his mind seems to be already clouded with great love for his mate and he only believes with the idea that his mate is good and can't do bad things like any other feral rogues. "You don't understand me, Michael. She is my mate, what am I supposed to do now? Are you suggesting that I should just let my mate rot in the cellar and let the warriors torture her? Because I'm not letting anyone touch my mate." Maddox replied to me with glaring eyes and a flaring nose, he could no longer hide his annoyance. "I didn't say that, Maddox. You know that I loathe the rogues so much, that I am ruthless when it comes to torturing them. But you also know that I am fair and I need time to think about your situation, I can't just let your rogue mate gets out of the cellar and roam around our land." I said to him and I leaned on the swivel chair because my head f*****g hurts thinking with all the things that have been happening. Everyone thinks that I show no mercy but I think not killing the rogues that we captured is already enough proof that I have mercy. As the alpha of the Crescent Moon pack, I have to ensure the safety of everyone and I can't let my guard down, as much as I want Maddox to be happy I'm afraid I can't let his mate be free. "Rogues and hunters are joining their forces to m******e pack after pack, Maddox. They already succeeded in wiping out Morgan's pack, I'm being cautious right now." I explained to him and I can’t help but feel guilty when I see the sadness on his face. "I understand, Michael. I care about this pack too and I will fight for our safety, but what am I supposed to do now? She is my mate and it breaks my heart knowing that she's gonna spend another night in the cellar, it drives me insane that there's nothing I can do for my mate." Maddox replied in a trembling voice as if he would cry any minute from now. I took a deep breath as I tried to weigh Maddox’s situation. >What should we do, Kol?You know what I'm going to do with this situation, Michael. I don't care if my mate is a rogue or not, it doesn't matter anymore. Maddox already found his other half and it would break his heart or worst it would drive him mad if he can't be with his mate.< Kol replies and I can't help but release a deep long sigh still thinking what should I do about Maddox and his rogue of a mate. "Okay, I want to talk to your mate, Maddox," I told him and I saw him swallow his saliva as if he was suddenly feeling anxious. I've never seen Maddox getting anxious like this, he is always composed and cocky. But then I can't blame him, he just found his mate. "Why?" Maddox asked with a suspicious tone of voice but I just raised my brows at him. "I want to see what she's like, bring me your mate here," I ordered to him with conviction and even though Maddox was still a bit hesitant he did nothing but get up and slowly walks out of my penthouse to get his mate.
