Hunger is nobody's friend.
I had a craving to satisfy, and I needed to cook my wishes to life.
In time, I was out shopping for provisions.
The gentleman in me had to let the kids buy what they needed first.
Just then, a voice greeted the shop owner,
It was Gift.
Time stood still as my nerves failed me.
I looked at her shyly and her reply to my gaze was a good morning.
In time, my buys were complete but my heart wished to linger longer.
"I'm coming to eat oo", she voiced out with a smile.
My heart skipped but I did not die.
I managed to squeeze out a convincing smile to escort my reply.
"Please come, I'd save a plate for you"
She laughed and again, I saw the cutest thing ever.
The joy when beauty laughs.
As my feet made for home, my mind thought of what if.
What if she comes around.
Surely heaven will kiss the earth.
And though she never came, I never stopped the playback
Of when I made Gift laugh.
