NORA’S POV
I looked down at my bandaged finger.
I was still shocked at the fact that the person who had come to save me was the beautiful Alpha. I thought of the way he took my pain away.
Why would he do that for me? A person who he believed to be his enemy? My father had obviously hurt him. Why would he soothe my pain?
There was only one person in this world that had taken my pain away before. I tried not to dwell on the memory but the scenery before me started to melt away into that very memory.
This happened eighteen years ago when I was still seven. Yet I remembered it clearly like it had happened yesterday. This was how much I held it dearly.
My father and his men were traveling through the woods at the time, searching for something and he had carried me along. Till now, I still tried to understand why he did not just leave me at home.
My father found a place to camp in the woods and I went about playing. He had assigned a guard to watch me as well as a nanny but somehow, I slipped out of their fingers and went off playing in the woods.
To me, it was like playing hide and seek with them. I had to find the best place to hide so that they would not find me. So I kept running further away from the camp. It was a miracle that I had not been located or kidnapped by another angry pack because as of then, I did not understand how wanted my father was.
Eventually, I fell into a shallow pit and cut my leg. The injury started to bleed and I cried out for my father.
"Papa! Help! It's bleeding!" I cried but no one seemed to hear me. Nobody came to my rescue.
My injury burned my leg and I kept crying and screaming for help. I realized that I could not get out of the pit and I could not walk on my own either because of the cut.
I was beginning to lose hope as the sun was starting to set. Until a strange boy popped his head above the pit. I could not see the rest of his body so I figured that he was laying on his stomach.
"Little girl! Are you alive?" He asked.
My eyes went wide open with hope when I saw that somebody had come to my rescue.
"I don't know," I answered since I did not really understand the concept of being alive at that age.
The boy giggled. "Then how are you talking?" He asked.
"I don't know! I already told you!" I screamed at him. The action made me move my leg and it began to burn again. I cried out in pain.
"What happened to you?" The boy asked confused.
"I hurt my leg and I can't get out," I cried. By now, my tears had soiled my clothes and this new batch of tears was going to keep my clothes in that state.
"Give me your hand, little girl," he instructed and stretched his hand out to me.
I stood on my good leg and tried to reach his hands. He stretched them further and I finally caught them. I gave him my other hand and he began struggling to pull me up.
It was hard for him but in the end, he got me out. That was when I got a good view of his jet-black hair and deep blue eyes. He was taller than me but he did not seem so old.
"Why have you been calling me little girl? You're also a little boy!" I argued.
"I'm taller than you, so you're a little girl," he answered with another giggle as he used his hand to illustrate how tall he was.
"That's not fair! If you're not a little boy then I'm not a little girl too!" I screamed and fell. My leg started to hurt even harder and I began to cry again. "It hurts!" I cried.
The boy looked at me with pity, then he asked, "do you trust me?"
"No," I cried back.
"Why won't you trust me? I just helped you," he complained.
"My father says not to trust any strangers," I answered in tears. I was still crying.
The boy only sighed and placed his hand on my injury. I flinched away from him. "What are you doing? It hurts!" I screamed.
"I want to help," he retorted.
Then he slowly placed his hands on the injury. He brought his blue eyes to mine and remained silent. Slowly, the pain started to leave my leg. I gasped.
"How are you doing this?!" I exclaimed. "The pain is gone!"
"My mother says it's a gift from the Moon goddess. I was born with it," he answered with a smile.
"What is your name?" I asked.
"Damian. What is yours?"
"I can't tell you. My father says not to tell strangers about myself," I answered and laughed at him.
"Damian?" I heard a voice call out to him.
"That's my mother. Come, I'll take you to my mother," he suggested.
"No! My father must be waiting for me. I will go back to him," I refused and suddenly ran off.
"No! Little girl! Come back!" he called but I did not stop. The pain was gone. I could run back to our camp.
The memory soon started fading until it dissipated into my present cell. I exhaled sharply.
Damian had been the only person who could take people's pain away. It was a rare gift that I even tried researching over the years but I could not find much on it.
How then could this beautiful Alpha have Damian's gift?
Could he be Damian?
No, if he was Damian then he would not have kept me here. He would have welcomed me better. Besides, I saw him jump out that window. No one could have ever survived that fall.
Damian was dead.
But why then did this beautiful Alpha remind me so much of him?
