The whole room fell silent for a few seconds as they took in what the Alpha just said. Apart from Tessa, it was a shock to the others. That was the first time they were each hearing about that. Even Raven who grew up with him for a few years had no idea that her brother was actually an half brother. "I don't understand....are you saying...." "Yes" Alpha Damien cut her off. "Rayne is half Direwolf and half Crescent wolf" "But how's that possible? Doesn't that mean Raven should be an highbreed as well?" Kreed questioned with furrowed brows "No. After the great cleansing, not every Direwolf was wiped out as you well know. Apparently apart from the Black Lotus who survived, there were a handful of others who managed to escape. Maybe not even more than five. One of them, was Rayne's father. He met your mother and they had a kid together. But while he was just a new born, his father abadoned her and the child...." "That's crazy" Kreed cut in. "Yeah. But luckily she found someone else willingly to take her and her child in, a crescent wolf. He took take care of her and the child and soon after she ended up pregnant for him. That man was your father Raven and the pregnancy was you, Raven..." He paused on seeing the shocked look on her face. All of that was secrets kept from her. "So he's my half brother?" Raven managed to break through the shock. "Yes he is. He's also the first fully fledged highbreed we know off. The best to ever come out of the academy....that is until it all went down the drain with the m******e he did that got him exiled" Tessa explained "Wow. He has one hell of a story" Ace pointed out "But I thought highbreed wolves are supposed to be weaker than us fullbreed Direwolves?" Kreed inquired with a curious look. "So we originally thought. During my younger days, we know of a twins who were highbreeds but they were weaker than full Direwolves. But we then realized they were weaker because they were born with yellow Beta eyes. Highbreeds born with Beta eyes are weaker than Full Direwolves but stronger than none Direwolves. But you see, those highbreeds born with red Alpha eyes are the stronger species. Stronger than normal crescent wolves and also stronger than Direwolves" Tessa explained "So he's stronger than even you?" Kreed questioned, looking over at the Alpha. "Not entirely..." Alpha Damien smiled. "You see, he's not stronger than all Direwolves. There are some exceptionally strong Direwolves....like your father for instance" He paused and smiled, glancing over at Tessa. He could see the emotions forming in her eyes. "Your father Kreed, Kieran, whatever name you're used to calling him, he was an exceptional Direwolf. His nickname Devileyes should tell you just how much of a menace he was" "So is the Alpha and your uncle, Silas" Tessa added "What we are trying to say is that, as strong as he may be or may be getting, there are other wolves who might be as strong or even stronger than him out there. Granted he hasn't gotten to his full potential yet" Said, Alpha Damien "So what are we supposed to do in the meantime?" Kreed asked "Train harder. With all the reports we are getting, there's a chance we might get attacked sooner or later....but we have to be prepared" "And for Rayne and whatever it is he might be looking for by risking his life coming back here?" Raven inquired with anger boiling in her heart. Not only had she discovered the truth, she felt more anger seeing how her half brother killed her father and mother. She had initially thought he killed both their parents but no, it was just her father. "I'll assign Kieran and you Kreed, to start keeping watch around Raven's house. If he had come there twice now, then there must be something he's looking for" "I can stand guard there alone" Kreed replied "No, it has to be you both. Didn't you hear all he just said? Rayne is dangerous. So it's better to be safe" Tessa explained with a concluded look. "Alright fine" "Where is Kieran anyway?" Tessa asked just before they heard a knock on the door before the door was pushed open. "Sorry Alpha" One of the Betas of the pack stepped in with a worried look. "I have tragic news" "What is it?" The Alpha asked, all eyes fixed on the Beta. "The elder is dead, found murdered in her cabin" He broke the disheartening news. *** Getting to their meeting spot in the woods where Darcel had been waiting for him, Rayne walked past him without uttering a word. Darcel who had been sitting against a tree, waiting for his arrival, sighed and shook his head as Rayne walked past him without acknowledging his presence. He stood up and dust the dirt off his cloak as he began making his way over to Rayne to walk beside him. "I don't see the reason why Scar wanted us to move in pairs. More than half the time you move as though we are not together" He started After a few seconds of silence with no response from Rayne, Darcel continued. "You know, I always wonder what is going on in that head of yours. I can easily read people but you, you're different. You're a closed book that is also wrapped with lock and key. Just what childhood and past pain made you like this?" He waited for a response but still none came. He sighed with defeat, putting on the hood of his own cloak. "Did you get it?" "No" Rayne finally responded "I see" Darcel smiled. "All business and mission with you" He added with a crooked smile. Rayne kept moving through the dark woodpaths in silence. He was deep in thoughts and lost in his head. He kept playing his encounter with Raven over and over again in his head, wishing it had gone differently. The image of his little sister staring at him with hate kept disrupting his thoughts. As much as he tried to block out that hateful eyes staring at him, it kept coming over and over again. He sighed quietly and stopped on his track and began staring at the sky. "What's wrong?" Darcel stopped behind him, joining him in staring at the sky but seeing nothing there. "Nothing" He muttered, stood a few seconds more, brought his attention back to the road ahead and continued on his path. "You're an enigma Rayne" Darcel scoffed *** The blaring music playing in the bar could be heard from outside. Everyone present in the bar where cheering for both boys on the main stage attempting what seemed to karaoke. The eyes of every customer in there were on Kieran and Killian who were on the stage. They both had bottle of beer in one hand and a mic in the other. In werewolf law, as long as you've gotten your wolf, you're old enough to drink. "Hooray!!" The onlookers cheered them on. "'OH MY SWEET CAROLINA PLEASE BE THERE FOR MEEEE!!!!'" Both boys yelled into the mic till they were out of breath and then simultaneously fell on the floor of the stage, laughing themselves as the customers were cheering for them, whistling and clapping. Raven and Kreed stood by the door dumbfounded as they got to witness the end part of the show. "You've got to be kidding me" Kreed muttered. They all knew it was hard for werewolves to get drunk, which made them wondered just how many they've all had. Kieran sat up, downing the remaining content in his bottle just before his eyes met with their friends who were still standing by the door. "Oh great, buzzkill" He rolled his eyes on seeing the serious look on his twin's face. Killian followed his eyes and saw them too. "Damn it" He exhaled heavily. "Let's go see what they want" Kieran stated, forcing himself up and drawing Killian along with him. *** The smell of blood hit Kane's nostrils as they stood just outside the bar. He glanced over at Storm and saw the same look on her face. They both approached the door, with Storm beside Kane. He slowly pushed the door open and immediately, his eyes fell on the body parts scattered all over the inside of the bar and the blood seemed as though it was used to paint the walls and floorboard. Kane looked away from the mangled bodies and to the figure sitting by the bar counter, back turned to them and a glass of whiskey in his hands. "What the hell do you want!" The mystery man asked without turning to look at them. "Your reputation precedes you...and I can see that you constantly live up to your name.....don't you?....Cicada" Kane stated with a deep voice, his mask still fixed on his face. As soon as Cicada turned to face them with his dark brown, evil looking eyes, Kane smiled behind his mask. "Or should I say, the mad wolf?" He completed, making his way over to Cicada, while Storm remained at the door. "I have a preposition for you.....come join us....join us and live up to your name" He offered Cicada stared at him with disdain in his eyes. He stared from Kane to Storm and then back to Kane before taking another shot of the whiskey, right before his lips formed into a smile. "I see" He laughed.
