Phase One: Two Mates

The moist air was filled with the scent of burning bushes and buildings. The cloud seemed to be getting darker with the red sun setting. The whole place was now a shadow of itself. Where the bubbling pack settlement once stood, was now nothing but mere ashes, fading away with the wind. Seeing how their once beautiful home, pack and town was now merely ash and coal they stood on, the anger inside of Kieran grew. He shifted his gaze back to his rival. "It didn't have to be like this!" He called out, staring at his rival who stood on the other side, some metres from him. "No, it didn't. You made it so. I guess it's the curse we inherited, a fate we can't avoid. If only you acted as a brother and never betrayed me. It doesn't matter now. I'm going to be the one standing and you're going down for your betrayal" Kreed stated with angered eyes. His eyes immediately began glowing red as soon as he ended his sentence. He watched as Kieran's eyes began glowing red also. "Let's end it here!* He added just before dashing toward Kieran. [Some Months Earlier] Moaning into his mouth, Raven kept her eyes shut, immersing herself into the passion of the kiss she was sharing. She felt his grip on her waist, his fingers snaking their way under her top and grabbing her bare skin. She groaned, breaking the kiss. "We'll be late for class" She complained with regret in her eyes. "Oh come on! School can wait" Kreed said with pleading eyes. "Easy for you to say. You've got your wolf already and have just two months to leave, unlike me" She replied, trying to stand up from his thighs where she sat astride on the wooden chair he was sitting on. "You're getting your wolf tomorrow. It's a cause to celebrate" Kreed kept on trying to persuade her, whilst holding her in place, keeping her from standing up. "We'll celebrate then, not before" She smiled, running her fingers through his snow white hair. One of her favorite features of his. "Lies. You know we won't get to see you for a week after you get your wolf. Keeping you locked up to help you get control of your wolf" He explained. "Then we'll see after that. I'm not running away. And besides, Kieran might be waiting for us" "My brother can wait. Right now, I can't. I'm craving you..." He gave a mischievous smile, shifting her dark silky hair from her face and placing it behind her ear just before he stood up, picking her up as he did. She giggled, wrapping her legs around his waist as he led her to the bed. "Your mom is downstairs* She whispered "Doesn't matter" He resumed kissing her, placing her on the bed on her back. He hurriedly took off his jacket whilst still engaged in the kiss. Raven gave in and began undoing her jean also. *** Hearing his twin brother and his girlfriend from the door about to start doing the nasty, He immediately turned and walked away. He wanted to go call them but now he knew not to interfere in their love making. He felt a twinge in his heart as he made his way downstairs but quickly pushed it away. He used the towel in his hand to dry off his damp snow white hair some more as he arrived at the kitchen. "Hey strange beautiful lady who's making breakfast" Kieran quipped, smiling at his mother. "Well thank you....I guess....Mr joker" Tessa, his mother replied, stirring the sauce. "So what do you have for us today?" He sat by the kitchen counter. "You know we do have to leave soon or we'll be late" He added "Look at you not wanting to be late for school. I'm surprised I didn't have to practically force you again today. If only all days were like this" She teased, still stirring. "That's because I still don't get the point of wolf school. It's just basically romance and also a way to show off who's stronger for the teens" He argued "You say that like you're not a teen yourself" She scoffed. "You enjoy all that too. It's what makes your teen years fun" "Well I don't have a love interest and Kreed and I are basically the strongest in school. Everyone knows that. Thanks to dad and these eyes he gave us" Kieran smiled. Although they never knew their father, but they've learnt all they could from their mother. She was always happy to talk about him. "Your brother do know I can hear them right? That is disgusting and something I don't want to hear. Try to go get them down here so you guys can leave for school" Tessa instructed. "They are having fun, not wasting their teen years" He replied mockingly. "Kreed!!!" He yelled out, his voice filling the house. "Time to go you two!!!" He added. "Stop shouting. You could have just walked up there and told them" He shrugged with a smile. "I don't want to damage my eyes by seeing what I'm not supposed to see" Few minutes later, they heard footsteps climbing down the stairs hurriedly and soon Kreed and Raven appeared in the kitchen where Tessa and Kieran were seated, eating already. "You sure took your time" Kieran said to Kreed sarcastically. "Sorry mom, Raven was showing me some things" Kreed stated, joining them, with Raven sitting beside him. "I bet she was" Kieran smiled mischievously at his twin. "Some things with school" Kreed lied, glancing at his mom who hadn't said anything but had a small smile on her lips. He knew Immediately that she knew he was lying. "I'm sorry miss Tessa" Raven apologized, tucking her hair behind her ear and looking embarrassed. "Oh you don't have to apologize honey. It's fine" Tessa flashed her a smile. "Grab a plate and eat before you guys leave" Raven nodded, though still feeling a bit embarrassed. She grabbed a plate and glanced at Kieran who had his eyes fixed on her with a smirk. She c****d her brow at him, shrugging lightly that no one else noticed. All he did was smile and turn away. She served herself some food and joined in the breakfast. *** Sitting on the classroom window without fear of how high the window was from the ground if he should fall over, Kieran kept his eyes fixed on the girls seated together, discussing. "Do girls have nothing else to talk about other than boys?" He asked his friend Killian who was standing beside him. "I mean, it's the only fun thing to discuss for them. Just as girls are the only fun thing we discuss" Killian explained. "Hey! We do discuss other fun things" Kieran protested "Like what?" Killian asked with a questioning and curious look, waiting for him to name them. "Like.....like....hmmm.....videogames and romance books" Killian shook his head with disappointment. "First of, we have never discussed books. Secondly, videogames is the only thing you have going for you. Boy did I make friends with the wrong brother. Kreed is so much cooler than you" "Hey!" Kieran protested. "You're lucky you both are identical. The looks is all you have going for you, plus your funny and sarcastic side. If you didn't look like Kreed, you would still be a virgin" Killian teased. "Damn! You just shot me down" He replied, shifting his eyes to Kreed who was on his seat with a random girl in front of him, trying to have his attention as she kept on smiling desperately. Kieran knew Killian was right though. Kreed was the one people saw more as the cool twin. They saw him as the goofy and funny one, but Kreed as the cool and calm one. He rarely involved himself with others in school and some might call it pride. Their looks and Alpha eyes were the only similar thing they shared as identical twins. They were completely opposite in personality. While Kreed was the serious type, kind of like the emo kids. Himself was the one that was never serious. He looked away from his twin and his eyes fell on two boys standing outside the classroom and spying on Kreed from the hallway through the door. Kieran's smile immediately faded. "I'll be back. Give me a minute" He said to Killian and climbed down from the window. Kieran made his way out the classroom, smiling as though nothing was happening. Before he stepped out the class, he saw both boys were leaving already. He followed them quietly untill they turned into a secluded part of the building where no one was. It was an empty passageway to the abandoned classes in the building. "Hey" He called softly. Both boys turned simultaneously and immediately had their necks gripped by him. He pushed them against the wall and pinned them there with both his hands around their necks. "What business do you have with my brother?" He questioned, his face completely devoid of emotion. "It's....Kieran" One of them pointed out to the other and immediately fear came upon both of them, the fear visible in their eyes. "We are sorry Kieran, we meant no harm" The other quickly said. "That still doesn't answer my question. Why were you staring at my brother? Do you have a plan against him or something?" "No...Raven...sent me...to check if he was in class" One replied, choking from his grip. "Yeah...I just...escorted him" The other added, also choking. Kieran stared directly into their eyes. He listened to their heartbeats but it was beating faster than usual due to the fear they had for him. So he couldn't tell if they were lying with their heartbeats, but staring into their eyes, he realized they were saying the truth. He released his grip from their necks and they immediately began coughing, heaving sighs of relief. "Then you shouldn't make it seem suspicious next time" He advised. "We are sorry Kieran" "Leave" He ordered and they Immediately ran off. Kieran stood there for a few seconds and then immediately started smiling, changing his facial expression to his normal cheerful one before walking out the hallway into the open. *** Hugging everyone around her happily, Raven couldn't stop smiling. It was her sixteenth birthday but most importantly, It was morning and she just got her wolf. She could feel it's presence inside of her and her eyes began glowing yellow when she felt the presence. It was full moon that night, which means she'll be making her first shift that night. She was excited. After celebrating with everyone, she immediately took off, heading to Kreed's house. It was time to find out about one of the most important aspects of her life. With her getting her wolf, it meant she was now able to find her mate. She had been hoping and praying that her mate would end up being Kreed whenever she got her wolf. They had discussed it a lot of times and now it was finally here. It was time to know. She didn't care if she was going to be late to school that morning, she didn't even care if she didn't attend that day at all. It was the most important day of her life and nothing was going to deter her from it. She soon arrived at Kreed's house. It wasn't that far from her house. She ran all the way from her house to his, that was how determined and desperate she was. Without knocking she burst through the front door, and as though he had been expecting her, Kreed was standing there, phone in hand and about to call her. She shut the door behind her, breathing heavily and staring directly at him. Immediately, a smile formed on her lips. She felt it as soon as she entered the house. Her prayers had been answered, he was actually her mate. Kreed who felt it too began smiling with relief. "My mate" Raven uttered, making her way toward him. She closed the distance between them and could feel the bond and emotions strongly. At that moment she was the happiest person on Earth. Her eyes were clouded with tears, tears of joy. "My mate" She said again to Kreed who was smiling at her also. She was about to hug him when she felt something else. Another set of emotion and bond pulling her. Her brows immediately became furrowed as she shifted her eyes to the staircase with a puzzled and confused look. "What is it?" Kreed asked on noticing the look on her face. She kept staring at the staircase, hearing footsteps approaching. Kreed followed her eyes and was staring at the staircase too. Few seconds later, Kieran appeared, stepping down from the last step of the stairs. "I'm feeling funny" He announced, setting eyes on them both. He immediately shifted his eyes to the source of what he was feeling, a source he traced downstairs, and was surprised to see Raven as the source. "Wha....what the hell?" Raven muttered with a mortified look, staring at Kieran, feeling the mate bond from him too. "My mate" She muttered and then began shifting her eyes between the twins. "My mates" She stated, brows furrowed and very confused. She saw the same confusion on the faces of the twins as they heard what she said and was waiting for her to explain what was going on.
