There were a dozen or more bathers in the water, diving under the rolling waves, or body surfing. Boogie board riders, mostly young boys and girls, were trying to catch waves outside the flags, and further out to sea a group of surfers sat waiting on their boards for a wave. Those still on the beach sat in groups, or lay sunbaking or reading on their towels, their bodies sticky and gritty from sunscreen and sand.
