A combination of factors prevented Pari from hearing the five people outside at the table, even though she was hidden just inside the hallway and partially obscured between a pillar and an abstract free-standing sculpture of polished stone. From her vantage point, the glass doors muffled their voices and the tumbling waterfalls drowned out most of their words.
About to retreat so she could exit the building and try sneaking up on them from the eastern exterior, Pari noticed Orion Alexander saunter off the lanai and enter the hallway. He strolled down the hallway without seeming to notice her and entered the men's room. When Orion emerged a few minutes later, Pari stood beside the entrance waiting for him.
