Carson’s POV
“Carrsooon!” Sharon’s voice was like nails on a chalkboard to my ears. Why did she have to screech, we were wolves for f**k’s sake, I could hear everything in just a whisper.
“CARSON!” She screamed again.
I had been ignoring her, standing at the window in my office overlooking the main road as busses rolled in. She had no idea the amount of stress I was feeling with having all of these packs on my land. I was an Alpha and had to remain calm and collected. Welcoming, to all. Even to the pack the threw me away for a weak, annoying pup. I wanted to prove to them that I was better off without them. They needed me, not the other way around.
“CARSON” Sharon stormed into the office. “Why are you ignoring me!?! Are you even ready? We should be outside greeting the packs as they come and set up.”
She had no idea, no one did. Only myself and the Blue Ridge pack knew who I was and about my past. I hoped to keep it that way.
“That’s what the pack is for Sharon, they are all greeting our visitors and showing them where they need to be.”
“You should at least be meeting the heads of the packs as they get settled into their cabins...” She continued in rant. I was barely paying attention to her.
My mind was elsewhere, i could see the Blue Ridge pack, they were placed off to the right, in line with my office window and closest to the surrounding forest. I wanted them in my sights, but not close enough where I would have to listen or smell them.
Sharon started talking about our ceremony happening tonight. We would be mated and she would officially be my Luna. My chosen mate. Because I didn’t have a true-mate, that’s what everyone thought. And none of the pack’s knew of tonight’s festivities, other than it’d be a ceremony, but that term was used loosely and many believed it to be the opening ceremony to the games.
I saw my mother the moment she stepped off of the bus. She all but looked the same as the day my father died. A feeling of sadness rushed through me as I watched Luna Stacey slide her arm in with my mom’s, staying close with her as the two of them laughed. I saw the worry though, my mother’s eyes were searching for me. But I wasn't ready to see her face to face, she spent these years ignoring my letters of pleading her to come live with me.
Then I saw them, the leaders exited the bus last, probably making sure everyone got off without a problem. Max, that piece of s**t, looked like he grew a good foot, was walking hand-in-hand with a she-wolf. Must of found his mate, I thought to myself.
“Who are we looking at?” Sharon suddenly was standing next to me. Her hand sliding up my arm just as Nikki walked out of the bus. I was hard in an instant, from here I could tell she had grown even more beautiful. Strong, but with the most perfect curves. My breath caught in my throat.
“That’s the female Alpha!” Sharon said excitedly. “She’s looks so...I don’t know. She radiates power even from here, and she just looks so strong.”
“Beautiful.” I breathed out, not meaning to.
“Beautiful?! Really…” Sharon said, putting her hands on her hips.
“She is an Alpha Sharon, a beautiful she-wolf Alpha.” I said to her rolling my eyes.
“Well, I heard she doesn’t have a mate....” She said with worry in her voice.
“I already picked you.”
“Yeah, but you have options...strong ones…” she said pouting out her lips.
“I said she was beautiful, not sexy.” I smirked at her and pulled her to me.
Pushing her against the window, I kissed her. I needed her to shut up about Nikki. I also needed to work out with b***r I got just from seeing Nikki. Taking Sharon against the window, I kept my eyes on Nikki. While my wolf Eric grew angry that we were wasting our time with this slut and not going after our true mate.
She’s not our anymore, she rejected us...remember.
But you have the ability to change things, make her fall in love with us again.
She never loved us.
That’s a crock of s**t and you know it.
Drop it Eric.
Sharon was screaming my name as I pounded into her, Nikki looked up, her eyes looking at my office window, Luckily all the windows on the pack house were blackouts. No one could look in, only those standing inside could see out.
Slamming my d**k deeper into Sharon, I roared out and emptied into her.
“What was that about? Not that I’m complaining. In fact, I wouldn’t mind wild f***s like that more often.”
I cleaned myself up and stood there looking at her. “Ceremony begins at 8, you got everything?”
“Yes, of course.” She smiled up at me and quickly gave me another kiss. “I guess I’ll go meet the guests.”
I ignored her again as she walked out and I saw in my chair, staring out the window. The Blue Ridge Pack was getting situated at their tents, but it seemed that Nikki, Max, his possible mate, and some guy I’m guessing their Gamma was setting up their own tent.
Nikki’s face never once showed her emotions, it seems she’s gotten better at hiding those. But what surprised me was when another bus pulled in and she disappeared into her tent.
I watched as Alpha Connor exited the bus and quickly made his way around the tented areas. It seemed like he was looking for someone before he stumbled upon the she-wolf i thought to be Max’s mate. Looked like she wasn’t letting him pass and he, looked the every bit nervous and panic stricken. As much as he was trying to hold it together.
The she-wolf suddenly looked shocked and stood there looking at him, as the tent behind her opened up and Nikki walked back out. A smile gracing her beautiful face.
Alpha Connor watched her, sending her his own smile. Was that lust in his eyes? Where they f*****g, and had a fight?! My inside sources told me Alpha Connor was single and unmated. Had they lied to me?! I had hoped to make a strong alliance with him and his pack, but if he’s connected to Nikki I’m not sure that would work. I’ve never approached Nikki or the Blue Ridge pack with an alliance. I was going to see how this week played out before I even mentioned one.
*Alpha* The voice of my Gamma John came through my head via mind-link.
*Yes?*
*We have two packs where their leaders want to stay with their pack in the tents and be moved closer together.*
*Who? And Why?*
*Blue Ridge...and Red Moon, they did not say why.*
I knew Nikki wouldn’t have wanted to stay in the cabin, that’s just how we were raised. To stay with the pack. Protect the pack, lead the pack. Not one person back home, I mean back at Blue Ridge went without.
But I never thought Alpha Connor would be the same.
*Alpha…* John’s voice came through again.
*Check with the pack next to The Blue Ridge Pack, if they agree with it, then have them move to the Red Moon’s spot.*
*Yes Alpha*
Closing the mind-link I watched as John spoke with the two leaders before running over to find the Alpha for the pack next to Nikki’s.
Nikki and Connor stood there, staring at each other while the she-wolf ate chips and talked. Every once and a while Nikki and Connor would laugh at something she said.
Suddenly members of the Silver Moon Pack were moving their stuff to where Connor’s pack was originally supposed to be, on the other side of the house. The Red Moon pack members bringing their supplies to their new sleeping area.
*All have been moved Alpha, it also seems that the leaders of the Night Hawk Pack have decided to camp with their pack, they are The Red Moon’s closest neighbor pack and closest ally*
*Very well*
Closing the mind-link I stood there watching. My eyes only on one she-wolf, as she moved around her pack making sure they had everything they needed. I had a feeling this was going to be harder than I thought, having to control Eric and not make any claims towards her. She rejected us, we will NOT crawl or beg to have her back. We picked our mate, we would go through with the ceremony tonight and forget all about her.
