Chapter seven (7) Meet Vincent Lowan

Kaithlyn wasn't sure if what she had said to Richard was right, but she knew he was angry, so she was awake almost through the night wondering what would happen the next day at school. Even Richard was still angry, he was also wondering why Kaithlyn behaved in that manner but like always he had a plan, so both Richard and Kaithlyn anticipated the next day at school.

Richard still wasn't ready to tell Jack what had happened the next morning, so the ride to school was quiet. Kaithlyn was already in school, she was always punctual, she cited him comiing up the stairs and was going to talk to him.

But Richard walked past her, totally ignoring her, 'I guess he is realy mad at me,' she thought. That was Richard's plan, 'she wants me to stay away, ' he thought, 'so i would do as she wants.'

He didn't stare or glance at her, not to talk of speaking to her. Kaithlyn was feeling bad, she wanted so much to apologize but he wasn't even giving her a chanceto speak to him. It seemed as if the day went by quickly because it was soon time to go home, the closing bell rang.

Richard still didn't say anything to Katty, he just grabbed his bag and walked out of the class, of course he knew the way to the park, he had only been pretending.

Kaithlyn grabbed her bag also and hurried after him, hoping to apologize. Nicole smiled to herself, she had been observing them since school resumed for the day. 'I was right after all, he was just spinning her,' she thought.

Richard wasn't aware Kaithlyn was coming behind him, until she called him.

'Richard wait! ' he heard but he didn't stop, he was close to the park. Kaithlyn grabbed his hands to stop him as he halted and turned around to face her.

'What is it? ' He asked, 'I thought you said you wanted me to stay away from you, that's just what I am doing, 'he added.

'Iknow i said that, but i am sorry,' she pleaded.

'No, there is no needto be sorry, I'm the one to apologize, I am sorry I've only caused problems for you ever since i got to this school, you had to lead me to the park, you got into a fight with the demon Nicole and it's all my fault, like you said,' He said.

'That wasn't what i meant,' Kaithlyn said trying to persuade him.

'It doesn't matter now, i would stay away from you just like you requested, Infact you don't exist to me anymore, so don't worry about getting into trouble with Nicole any more,' he said as he turned away and started walking towards the park.

Kaithlyn just looked dum and sad, the words 'infact you don't exist to me anymore,' rang in her ears, she was however snapped out of her thoughts when she heard her name.

'Kate! Kaithlyn!!' a male voice called.

She turned around quickly ike she recognized the voice and a huge smile was formed on her face. 'Vincent!! ' she exclaimed as she ran towards him.

Richard heard the call also and turned around to see who had called. A guy about seventeen or eighteen, same height with Richard, his hair was black and also neatly combed. He was dressed in T-shirt, black demin jeans and sneakers, he didn't look very rich but one could guess he wasn't from a poor background either.

Kaithlyn ran into his arms, and hugged him, he was smiling and looked happy to see her. Richrmard was watching all this wondering who this guy was.

'When did you get back vince?' Kaithlyn asked. Vincent is Kaithlyn chilldhood friend, they attended the same primary school, but Kaithlyn was given a scholarship to West-Ville high school.

They were very close and knew everyting about each other, one would think they were siblings. Vincent had gone for summer vacation outside the state and was just returning.

'just now, and i couldn't wait to see you, so i came to pick you straight from school to pick you from ' Vincent explained. 'Really!' Kaithlyn said smiling.

Richard watched the whole drama and was getting angry, he didn't even know why he was, so he turned and walked into the park. 'But what were you doing over there?' Vincent asked Kaithlyn.

And then she remembered Richard, she turned around to see him walking into the park. 'he must have seen Vincent,' she thought.

'Kaithlyn are you alright?' Vincent asked worried.

'Yeah i was just....' she replied.

'Never mind, lets go,' Vincent said holding her hands and they both walked towards the school gate. Richard was really pissed when he got to the car, but he was willing to talk to Jack now.

'can you belive this? ' he said angrily.

'Belueve what?' Jack asked, looking confused.

Richard then explained what had happened at the restaurant to Jack. 'No wonder you were so angry, ' Jack said.

'that's not all,' Richard said and explained what happened in school to him.

'So who is this guy?' Jack asked.

'I don't know, who he is but i am guessing he is her boyfriend, and i don't know why i am angry,'

'it might be because you are jealous, and you are wondering if your decision of not talking to Katty was right. Jack said.

'May be, but what do i do now? ' Richard asked.

'Well to know if thay guy is her boyfriend and to make her apologise again, you can do one thing, 'Jack said.

'what do I do? '

'what does a guy do to make a girl know his worth, 'jack said.

'I'm not zure'

You make her jealous Richard, talk to someone else, ask another girl out, just make katty jealous,' Jack explained.

'But what if she doesn't get jealous?' he asked.

'Then she has no feelings for you and you forget about her'jack ,' Jack said. The conversation ended there and they left for home.

The journey back home for Kaithlyn was interesting. 'So how was your summer holiday with uncle Gabe, 'she asked vincent. 'Wells its was fun, uncle's plantation is now huge compared to the way it was before,' Vincebt replied.

'Really,' Kaithlyn exclaimed

'The grapes are now fully grown, as well as the apples and oranges, ' infact the whole environment is now well developed.' Vincent explained. 'No wonder, you at looking fresh.' Kaithlyn teased.

'so what did you get for me?'she asked.

'You know time isn't on your side now, when you get back from the restaurant i would show you. He said.

'So where do i meet you?' she asked.

The garden in front of your house,' he replied.

,'Alright i would meet you there'

She was to close from the restaurant around 8:qm but she was anxious so she begged a friend of hers to cover up for her. Please Tori, do you mind covering up for me today?' she begged another waitress.

'Sure, but where are you going to?' Tori asked.

'Vince is back Tori!!'

'Really! Is that true, no wonder you were so happy this evening, alright girlfriend but you owe me one,' Tori said.

'For sure, thanks Tori,' Kaithlyn said excitedly.

By the time she got back from the restaurant, Vincent was already at the garden waiting for her. 'have you been here for long?' the voice startled Vincent.

'Oh! Kate it's you,'

'If not me, who else were you expecting?' she asked feigning jealousy. 'no one, i was just surprised thats all,' he explained.

'Alright, let's forget about it, what do you have for me?' Kaithlyn asked anxiously seating on the bench beside Vincent. 'Make a guess,' he said.

Kaithlyn frowned,'is that it okay then, maybe it is a scarf or hairbow,'

'Nope you are wrong,'

'So what is it, I'm not good at guessing,' she complained. Vincent then presented her a little box, well wrapped just like a christmas gift. Kaitlyn was anxious, she opened up the box and a broad smile spreads across her face. In the box was a locket, a beautiful chain locket as she lifted it out of the box admiring it, she was all smiles.

'Do you like it?' Vincent asked

'Did you say like, i love it,' She exclaimed.

The locket was opened, it had a picture of both kaithlyn and Vincent, a picture of when they were kids. 'wow, you still have this picture,'she said.

'Yes, i kept it since the day i took it,' he replied.

'it's so beautiful, thank you vince' she said. 'But where is yoours? ' she asked

'it was pretty expensive, i could only afford one,' He answered.

'Really! Alright then i will get you one, ' she said.

'No, dont do that, i will get mine,' Vincent answered her.

'Okay,' she said and put on the necklace, it looked pretty onher, then they both relaxed staring into the sky. 'Infact you don't exist to me anymore " the words rang in her ears like a flash, and then she remembered Richard.

What a coincidence because right at that moment Richard was also thinking about Kaithlyn in his balcony, staring into the sky. The look on her face when he had told her she didn't exist to him anymore was on his mind, when she also hugged Vincent kept bothering Richard.

He sighed and kept staring at the sky, hoping to find solace and peace from the bright moon and twinkling stars. 'Vincent, can i ask you a question?' Kate asked.

'Sure, what's on your mind?' he asked looking concerned. 'are you alright?' he added.

'Actually, at school today when you had come to meet me,' she said.

'Yes, i saw you in front of the park,'

'Well, i had a fight with a classmate,' she said and narrated what happened with Richard to Vincent.

'Oh, what you did was wrong Kate,' He said.

'I know, but i had said that out of anger,' she explained.

'You should still try apologising tomorrow, even i would be angry if you had said that to me, '

'Do you think he would listen to me?' she asked.

'If he really cares about you, then he would listen for sure,' Vincent assured her.

'Who is talking about caring about me or not,' she said laughing.

'If he doesn't care, then he won't be worried' he explained. 'It seems you've got a boyfriend,' he taunted.

'No, thats not it, I guess he just has empathy towards those who are bullied, he is not my boyfriend,' she said.

'Well if you say so, but i thinkwe should go home now, it's getting darker, ' Vincent said.

'Okay'she said gathering her things and they took a stroll home.
