1125 Words
Luna's POV I stepped into the training area, the cool morning air invigorating my senses. The vast, open space stretched before me, devoid of obstacles or distractions. I had one goal: hone my skills. Darius and Beta Elias would arrive soon, and I wanted to be prepared. Not because I sought to impress Darius—though the thought lingered in the back of my mind—but because I needed to prove to myself that I was capable. My feet bare and my hair tied back, I began to move, letting my instincts guide me. The familiar rush of adrenaline coursed through my veins as I unleashed my powers. Flames danced at my fingertips, and the air shimmered with heat. I practiced control, precision, and strength. Sweat beaded on my forehead, and my muscles trembled, but I pushed on. With each passing moment, my focus sharpened. My movements became fluid, my thoughts clear. As I trained, the world faded away, leaving only the thrum of my heartbeat and the roar of my inner fire. Suddenly, I sensed a presence. Darius. My instincts flared, and I spun around, flames dying down as I faced him. He stood at the entrance, his piercing gaze locked onto mine. Beta Elias and Aria flanked him, their expressions unreadable. Darius's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched. "You're... impressive, Luna." I felt a surge of pride, but quickly suppressed it. This wasn't about impressing him; it was about self-discovery. "What's the plan for today?" I asked, my voice steady. Darius's smile was enigmatic. "We'll see how you fare against... opposition." With a flick of his wrist, the training area transformed. Obstacles materialized, and shadows took on menacing forms. My heart quickened. This was it. Time to face my true test. Darius gestured to the opponent before me. "Meet Foxy. She's... formidable." Foxy, a striking girl with ginger-colored hair, flashed a mischievous grin. Her eyes sparkled with amusement as she sized me up. "Begin," Darius commanded. Foxy sprang into action, her movements lightning-fast. She dodged and weaved with ease, her agility uncanny. "You're too slow," Foxy taunted, her voice husky. My anger flared, but I focused on the fight. Flames erupted around me, and I charged forward. Foxy danced around my attacks, her laughter echoing through the training area. Darius watched intently, his praise reserved for Foxy alone. "Well done, Foxy. Your speed is unmatched." My jealousy simmered, boiling over as Darius continued to extol Foxy's virtues. "Foxy, your reflexes are incredible. You're a true asset." Foxy's grin grew wider, her confidence soaring. Something inside me snapped. I unleashed a torrent of flames, fueled by my frustration. Foxy's eyes widened, but she dodged with ease. "Good, Luna," Darius said, his voice measured. "But Foxy's still ahead." My anger turned incandescent. How could Darius praise Foxy and not me? With a fierce cry, I summoned all my strength. The flames around me intensified, burning brighter and hotter. Foxy's smile faltered, her eyes flashing with concern. Darius's gaze locked onto mine, a hint of surprise in his eyes. "Luna, you're—" "Unstoppable," I finished, my voice barely above a whisper. The training area erupted into chaos as I unleashed my full fury. Foxy stumbled back, her agility faltering beneath my relentless assault. Darius's eyes gleamed with interest. "Impressive, Luna. You're tapping into your true potential." My flames died down, leaving an unsettling silence. Foxy approached, her expression wary. "You're... powerful." I stood tall, my chest heaving. "I'm just getting started." Darius's smile hinted at secrets. "We'll see about that." The air thickened with anticipation as Beta Elias stepped forward. "The real test begins now," he said, his voice low and ominous. Foxy's eyes flashed with a sudden intensity, their color shifting to a piercing amber. Her gaze locked into mine with a twisted smile plastered on her face as she strived into action. Foxy's speed was mesmerizing, her agility unmatched. Darius watched with a captivated smile. "Fantastic, Foxy!" he exclaimed. "Your reflexes are incredible." My anger simmered, fueled by Darius's praise for Foxy. Why wasn't he acknowledging my efforts? But the final blow came when Darius spoke the words that shattered my composure. "Foxy, you're awesome. I haven't met anyone as fast as you." Jealousy ignited within me, burning hotter with each passing moment. How could Darius say that to Foxy and not to me? My vision blurred, and my powers surged. Flames erupted around me, raging out of control. "Foolish girl," Foxy taunted, dodging my wild attacks. But I wasn't focused on Darius. My anger was directed at Foxy. Why did he praise her and not me? Beta Elias intervened, his voice firm. "Luna, control yourself." Darius's eyes locked onto mine, concern etched on his face. "Luna, stop!" he commanded. My flames died down, leaving an uncomfortable silence. Foxy stood tall, her expression triumphant. Darius approached me, his voice measured. "Luna, what triggered this outburst?" My jealousy still simmered, but I refused to admit it. "Nothing," I muttered. Darius's gaze pierced mine. "Don't lie to me, Luna." Beta Elias stepped forward. "Darius, perhaps—" "No, Beta," Darius interrupted. "Luna needs to confront her emotions." The training area fell silent, the tension between us palpable. Darius's expression turned stern. "Continue the fight, Luna." My anger reignited, fueled by the memory of his praise for Foxy. I directed my attack at Foxy, my movements swift and deadly. Foxy, caught off guard, stumbled backward. My jealousy boiled over, and I struck Foxy with a blast of flames. Foxy cried out, her body crashing to the ground. Darius's eyes narrowed, his expression unamused. "Learn to control your emotions, Luna." He strode toward Foxy, his movements fluid. "Foxy, are you alright?" he asked, concern etched on his face. Foxy winced, her eyes welling up with tears. Darius helped Foxy to her feet, his touch gentle. "Beta Elias, escort Foxy to the sickbay," he instructed. Beta Elias nodded curtly. "Yes, sir." As they departed, Darius turned to me, his gaze piercing. "Well done, Luna," he said, his tone measured. "But you still need to learn control." His words stung, a mixture of praise and criticism. I seethed, my jealousy still simmering. Why did Darius care for Foxy's well-being and not mine? After all, I was also hurt—my feelings were hurt. Darius's eyes seemed to bore into my soul. "You're capable of greatness, Luna. But your emotions will be your downfall." With that, he turned and followed Beta Elias and Foxy, leaving me alone with my turbulent thoughts. The training area, once a battleground, now felt empty and hollow. My anger slowly gave way to reflection. Was I truly jealous of Foxy, or was it something else? The uncertainty haunted me, a constant reminder of my vulnerabilities.
